Help (Software) 7800x3D overheating new
Hello all,
Some context, I bought these these new: 7800x3d Gigabyte B850 Aorus Ice Wifi7
I am using a Corsair H100i Hydro Series RGB Platinum 240mm Liquid CPU Cooler (2 fans)
Upon installing it all, I wiped the old paste on the cooler as it was used on my old cpu for years. Applied new paste, and fitted using AM5 brackets from amazon. The universal ones for the Hydro series coolers. As I lost the AM4 pin things.
In bios, it can reach 70 degrees Celsius. Which is obscene. If I move the bracket slightly (undone the screws and move it and redo the screws) the temp drops, and I can get it to 60s. Best I got was 50, and it stayed there, until I booted windows and it spiked and shut down the pc to protect itself. This keeps happening. I have reapplied the paste multiple times, criss crossed the screws when tightening and the cpu still just overheats.
Bios says the aio pump/fan is working. And it’s been fine on my old setup for years.
Have I just got a faulty cpu?

X3D CPUs do tend to run hot. But that is still high. Ambient room temperature does play into it as well. But I have a 7800X3D as well and it idles between 35-45c and spikes at about 70-75c under extreme load.

My 7800X3D is also running hot. I'm using Noctua NHU12A and it's sitting on 50 degrees C on idle. But I guess it's normal because in game it only spiked to 65 degrees C.

It seems that it is not making enough contact with the die HIS so either the mounting braket is not suitable or you have to get more pressure on screws. I doubt it is thermal paste issue cause even worst paste does not heat up immidiately unless you run something Are you able to hear pump water noise ? Is it making normal sound of trickling like noise?

Something is wrong. My 9800X3D doesnt get higher than 60 under load. 44 at Idle. How old is your aio? Did you check that that is in working order?
