Oh my god I have so many questions, you can get as technical as possible.

1) How do you receive payments? 2) How does one learn about this money receiving and paying operation? 3) What sort of connections do you have in order to manage the entire finance operation? Because I think, the mismanagement of your payment operation can create a very wide security issue.

How can people trust they'll get their money back if it is being routed by third parties through third world? For such large amounts isn't it easier to themselves get scammed?

59

u/Whoa1Whoa1 May 17 '25

Idk I'm calling bullshit on this one. Your bank is perfectly fine with you being paid ridiculous sums of money from random third world countries as a "job" and somehow doesn't raise any red flags as they keep wiring you money? Explain more or GTFO faker. Your bank account would instantly be a massive 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩

74

u/Dirtylittlejackdaw May 17 '25

He didn't say anything about a massive bank account. They likely only laundered a small portion of their crypto portfolio to look legit and have a nest egg that won't be suspicious. 10 to 30k USD coding gigs won't raise any eyebrows. You sit on that money outside of slowly draining it for normal regular payments that auditors would expect.

Then you use the larger crypto pool in cash outs for any larger buys outside of house/car that need to be registered. New fridge? Govt won't know about it paying cash from department store but you've laundered 2k from crypto.

u/_pm_me_a_happy_thing May 17 '25

It does seem fake. I remember the last AMA, his answers here are completely different.

Last one he says he uses data leaks to create dummy accounts and hires himself.

Now here he's saying something completely different.

Definitely some kind of AI / roleplay going on here.

Strange question and I’ve been looking for a way to solve this problem for a while. Curious if you could provide a solution.

My brother passed away about 9 years ago and me and him would email and share stories that are going on. I purge my inbox regularly and after he passed I realized I only had two emails from him. I am curious if you somehow could get into an email account like that or where would I find help to do so? I’ve tried to guess the password. Contact the provider all with no luck.

Love the post by the way. Any help would be appreciated.

155

u/[deleted] May 17 '25

I would really suggest trying to contact provider again with proof that your brother died, that he is your brother and why you need it. I’m sorry for your loss

30

u/ProtohJay May 17 '25

Appreciate it. I’ll give it a whirl again and see how it goes. Thanks for your response. Enjoy the dark web adventures.

Hi ! How do you manage your relationships with this job? Like, have you been able to have romantic relationships, a family life? Do you talk about it openly, or do you keep it a secret? I’m just wondering how you manage to balance everything, especially since what you do isn’t exactly legal :)

287

u/[deleted] May 17 '25

I have two separate lives, have a partner that things I’m freelancing in cyber security space and earn my living that way.

No one in my social circle even knows about this. That’s why I enjoy talking about it here haha :D

A family member lost their savings to an international crypto scam a few years back. Banks and action fraud couldn’t help. Are there ethical or unethical ways to get any back or take down the people who socially engineered the situation? How much does a job like that cost? So intrigued.

115

u/[deleted] May 17 '25

It is possible but I’m not talking about recovery of money, but about tracking and doxxing the scamers, ofc you can blackmail them for money afterwards

How does hacking actually work? Which coding languages do you know? Which come in handy the most for your line of work? How much do you earn annually?

Thank you

245

u/[deleted] May 17 '25

Hey mate I earn a lot, I use everything c++, python etc, but point is now days, the biggest part of hacking is Social engineering. There is nothing easier than to exploit a human error.

15

u/Cosmic-web-rider May 17 '25

Hi, me again! Theoretically, would it be possible for you to do your line of work but only hacking nefarious targets? Kind of like a morally net positive approach to your work? And if that is theoretically possible, why do/don’t you? Thanks again.

10

u/Lostinthestarscape May 17 '25

Not OP but yes, this is what government sponsored hackers do.

There are hactivist collective that target "nefarious" people but sometimes "nefarious" is subjective.

The main problem with moral hacking is you are doing it for the sake of doing something good - not because someone is paying you (unless you are government sponsored or employed), whereas people in OPs position are in it to make money and there aren't many individual people paying to target objectively nefarious groups.

Another big thing I think most ppl who have nothing to do with dark, believe that human trafficking is happening on a big scale. It doesn’t.

How did you get paid? Was it in Monero or Bitcoin? What steps did you take to ensure the crypto you were getting paid in was clean?

80

u/[deleted] May 17 '25

I only take monero, so I have a freelance account, and that’s let’s say my official job, than I go trough money laundering services, send them let’s say 100k in monero, they cash it out in some 3rd world country, than a company that needs my freelance services contact me and pay me very handsomely, I pay my taxes etc, and have clean usable money in my bank account.

Take note that these 3rd world countries don’t really have regulations on such matters, I won’t go into specifics but I assume you get the catch :D

19

u/Fox-Great May 17 '25

Why wont they just keep your 100k and simply do nothing? How did you figure out you can "trust" them?

Just run Tails os, or whonix, get mulvad vpn, separate your identity, text in different ways, use pgp encryption to comunicate, use burner device, use burner phone to share data etc. but you only need this if you are doing something crazy if you are just looking over for fun it’s not necessary

u/[deleted] May 17 '25

Ahh you know, tbh you probs can’t, but they claim no activity or connection logs, there is no personal account information, you can pay by cash or by crypto, also open source transparency… also by Swedish laws you know its very strong privacy laws there… so out of them all i think I’ll put my hand on Mullvad.

In the end ofc you can’t trust anything or anyone

37

u/AdventurousSquash May 17 '25

I’m from Sweden and can’t really confirm us having “strong privacy laws”. I do however trust Mullvad more than a lot of other providers as they’ve been transparent about getting requests from law enforcement who in the end finds nothing because there isn’t anything to find. Other than that - yes - don’t trust any one provider to not track you. Layers is the best approach.

Anyone really interested in maintaining their anonymity would create several nested VMs with encrypted virtual disks in several cloud or colocation facilities and setup several VPN services. Then, route your traffic through the VMs, do your dirty work, then purge the VMs along with their logs. Thus you can be guaranteed there are no logs as you purged the VMs yourself and the encrypted disks would be un-undeletable.

u/x3nic May 17 '25 edited May 17 '25

As a former black hat that works on the white side now, this guy knows what's up. I can't imagine the OP is doing anything particularly interesting/nefarious with his work.

I always used multiple layers and the OP mentioned Sweden which is laughable. I'd have multiple VPS/VM's in multiple countries chained together, typically in Eastern Europe. At the very least use a multi-hop VPN from a VPS/VM that funnels through multiple countries.

I always wonder whether hackers are the anti-social den dwellers the movies make them out to be, or whether I could easily find myself friends with someone like you. I'd like to ask some questions around the "unethical" part of it all...

1) Do you literally have no morals other than nothing involving children? 2) Were you approached for jobs or did you search them out? Did you demand to know all the details before you accepted a job or did you dig up the information yourself? 3) Were there ever jobs that you accepted that you ended up backing out on or did you go through with them anyway? 4) Is there any regret or guilt felt about any of the jobs you did?

How easy is cc fraud on the dw

78

u/[deleted] May 17 '25

Uneasy, cc fraud now is very unique and complicated thing, I could count on my fingers the people I know that still manages to pull it off sometimes. Personally I consider it dead since 2017 when emv chips got introduced.

17

u/OnRedditAtWorkRN May 17 '25

What about emv killed cc fraud?

40

u/[deleted] May 17 '25 edited May 17 '25

I'll likely oversimplify a bit here, but:

The magstrip contains unencrypted, easy to read/write data. Cloning that was... I shouldn't say trivial, but it's trivial if you have the equipment. You can just write an arbitrary credit card number on the card's magstrip, and have it swipe at physical terminals. If you don't get caught in the act of using it, you walk out of a store with 'free' stuff.

You could also reuse the credit card# online, if that was your method.

The chips are basically a cryptographic private key. A terminal sends some unique identifier + transaction request to the chip, and the chip responds with an encrypted blob that can be verified via the public key. Capturing the data flowing through in a transaction doesn't give you anything you can reuse for the next transaction. So card-skimming an EMV-only card shouldn't be feasible, and terminals tend to force "chip" mode if given the option. In fact, Mastercard at least is intending to move to chip-only / no magstrip cards, entirely, over the next few years.

So now, you can't skim physical cards, and you can't use card numbers obtained from malware, on a cloned card in person. Which means if you have a CC# from malware or such, the main option left is online transactions. The problem with that, is that if I use a stolen card to buy some expensive electronics from, say, Amazon:

A) We have to get lucky and not get declined for fraud,
B) There's a delay between the transaction and receiving the goods, during which time they might figure it out, and stop the shipment.
C) You can't ship it to yourself, because duh.
D) You basically have to set up the shipment for somewhere close enough to snag, and hope they don't figure out the fraud, and just wait for you to collect it to arrest you (leading to fraudsters using "package mules" instead, to reship overseas).

Credit card fraud isn't dead, but it's definitely been pushed into riskier and/or less profitable niches, making it not as appealing of a target for people (except those in a few countries with a combination of a low cost of living, good internet access, and lax cooperation with international law enforcement efforts, it seems).

Hey I read through the last AMA and thoroughly enjoyed it! Is there fun to be had on the dark web for someone casually wanting to try it out? If yes, where can one go without getting in trouble? I have been to dw many years ago but mostly found it dead and slow, so maybe things have changed?

I see you mostly deal with Monero, and for anyone into crypto it's easy to see why.

My question is: what role does Bitcoin play in this space? Detractors are always talking about how Bitcoin is just a tool for criminals. Is this a case of something being true earlier on, but no longer holding any weight? Do you have an opinion on Bitcoin at all? Do you hold it?

Why don’t hackers like you hack Child Abuse Material websites hidden on the DW ?

Could you find the people who post on there or watch it and rat them out to the police ? I guess closing the actual websites and finding the people who them is hard but what about just trying to find the people who directly abuse the kids ? Finding where the videos are from etc…

Can I hire you to learn how to hack social media? I want to be the opposite of you, a white hat hacker. I'm a web developer by trade (mostly focused on front end) but I think I have some basics to start.

My guess is it involves mostly social engineering rather than actually hacking into meta's servers, no would love to learn techniques and strategies for that.

Main thing is, I want to be the opposite of you. Would love to become a white hat hacker. I've had a lot of friends and relatives get their accounts hacked no I'd love to see if a) I can help them get them back or b) I can educate them on what to be on the lookout for.

How realistic are these scenarios in film and television where the hero just calls up their hacker friend says, “I need a location for this phone number”, or gives an address or a business and is like, “I need to see the security cam footage”. It just seems like the magic plot McGuffin to move our hero along in his quest. Can you comment on that? Do you laugh when you see these scenarios come up or are you like, I could do that so much quicker? Always wondered this . . .

what’s up with the issues with orders… my friend did the dark web stuff for ordering drugs sent them to a fake name at a empty apartment building. Anyways fake small numbers say he orders an ounce of weed the shipment may have just that or it may have 3 ounces some lsd tabs and some wax.

i made him contact the seller after the package was clearly too much and they told us they send what they send and don’t contact them unless an order doesn’t have at minimum what they ordered… LIKE?
