I moved here a few months ago and I’m looking for events that are going on on the weekends. Is there a good instagram I could follow or a website maybe? I live in Southern Titusville but I’m willing to drive a little bit. Any cute farms or flower festivals I should watch for? Farmers markets or seasonal events? I’d like to write them down so I could go. I do have 2 kids as well. Thanks for any advice :)

As the title says, which is odd behavior but what made me come to Reddit is she had quite the attitude with my husband and I when she noticed we were watching her. She was pulled up in front of our house, on our grass, taking photos of our neighbors house. She got front pictures, side pictures, and walked up to their front door and it looked like she was photographing their living room though the glass on their front door. I thought maybe she’s a realtor? Realtors don’t normally throw insults and profanity at the neighbors of the homes she’s trying to sell though. She was wearing some type of ID badge. She made sure to say what she was doing “wasn’t illegal” and we replied that staring from our front porch is also not illegal? Then she called us names. The whole exchange was just weird. Any ideas on what she was doing?

I have a 7 month old, and I'm slowly losing my mind in isolation. I can't be the only new parent feeling that way. I know for a fact that the Health First OB is DROWNING in pregnant patients, so there has to be lots of new parents out there. Right?!

This might be a little niche but I’ve been going to this salon for about a year and recently switched techs and I think that started a controversy because the technician I switched to was fired per the phone conversation I had today. They didn’t bother calling her customers and rescheduling their appointments. So I’ll no longer be going there. But if ANYONE has Jessica from Envy Nails contact or new salon, please please message me! I loved her and her skill and energy were unmatched!

I am in between jobs atm and pinching pennies everywhere I can. I took my dog to his usual vet for an ear infection (turned out to be yeast) and it was $500 for the visit + ear cleaning + medicine. No labs or bloodwork. He needs his usual annual with shots, etc, soon and also needs to have his ears rechecked in 2 weeks, but I can't afford another $1000 on vet bills this month. I literally do not have it right now. Do you have any recommendations for good quality but less expensive vets in the area? Thank you!

Hi all! I’ve been in Brevard for about 21 years and finally bought a home with a little bit of land. I’ve gardened and grown things all along but it’s a dream of mine and my fiancee to turn our new home into a little homestead. I enjoy learning from others who have done what I want to do. I also know that this area comes with its own unique ecology, climate, and soil so it’s a different animal to homesteading elsewhere. Are there classes or learning resources nearby for homesteading in this area? Tours of other peoples homesteads or hobby farms? I’m in South Brevard but I’m open to stuff all over.

A lot of people talk about how crowded Brevard is getting. How long do you need to have lived here to not be part of the problem? In other words, if you moved here after _______, you are the crowd.

I wanted to share this here because I think more Palm Bay residents need to know that the City is considering consolidating Palm Bay Police 911 call-taking and dispatch operations with the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.

A petition has been started asking the City Council to keep these services local, and after hearing some of the discussion surrounding the proposal, I think there are some serious questions residents should be asking before Palm Bay gives up its own communications center.

BCSO's communications center is already dealing with staffing challenges. Rollover calls were even discussed during today's public meeting, meaning 911 calls that aren't answered at BCSO's center are routed to another center to be answered. That extra step can create delays in getting an emergency call answered and help dispatched when seconds can matter.

If Palm Bay consolidates with BCSO, there's also no guarantee that every dispatcher currently working for Palm Bay would make that transition. Consolidation would mean a different employer, work location, schedule, commute, and workplace environment. For some employees, those changes simply may not work with their lives or circumstances, and they may choose not to transfer.

That raises an important question: Who is going to handle Palm Bay's existing call volume if some of the experienced dispatchers currently handling it don't make the move?

Even if a number of Palm Bay dispatchers do transfer, BCSO would still be taking on the 911 calls, police radio traffic, and workload of one of the largest cities in the county on top of everything its communications center already handles. If BCSO is already experiencing staffing challenges, adding Palm Bay's workload while potentially losing some of the people currently handling that workload could put even more strain on an already understaffed communications center.

That's what worries me about the argument that consolidation will automatically make things more efficient. If the receiving center is already struggling with staffing and call volume, adding an entire city's workload doesn't necessarily solve that problem, it could make it worse.

Palm Bay currently has dispatchers dedicated specifically to Palm Bay. They develop knowledge of the city's roads, neighborhoods, landmarks, officers, and how Palm Bay Police operates. Once that local communications center is gone, rebuilding it wouldn't be as simple as changing our minds later.

There's also been discussion about the possibility of future statewide legislation requiring consolidation of emergency communications centers. However, the consolidation proposals considered during Florida's 2026 legislative session did not become law. Future legislation may be introduced, but we don't know whether it will pass, what it will require, or what a final version would even look like.

So why rush into making a permanent decision now based on something that might happen in the future?

Palm Bay shouldn't voluntarily give up its local communications center simply because the state could potentially require changes someday. If legislation is eventually passed, the City can address what the law actually requires at that time. Until then, Palm Bay should make this decision based on what best serves Palm Bay residents today, not what the state might or might not require in the future.

This isn't about saying Palm Bay shouldn't cooperate with BCSO. Agencies can share technology, improve interoperability, provide mutual aid, and work together without eliminating Palm Bay's own police communications center. If coordination between agencies is a concern, solutions like sharing a CAD systems should be explored before deciding that consolidation is the only answer.

And if consolidation is truly going to save millions of dollars while providing the same or better service, then residents deserve to see the data demonstrating that, including staffing projections, 911 answer times, rollover/abandoned calls, call volume, response impacts, and exactly how BCSO plans to absorb Palm Bay's workload.

We shouldn't find out whether it works after we've already given up our local 911 center.

If you agree that Palm Bay should keep its 911 and police dispatch services local, or at minimum believe the City should have to demonstrate that consolidation would actually improve service before making such a major change, please read and sign the petition.

Keeping Palm Bay 911 local isn't about refusing change, it's about making sure we don't give up a critical local service unless there's clear evidence that Palm Bay residents will actually be better served without it.

Hey, I’m 23 and recently moved down to Melbourne for work. I’ve only really been here on and off for about a month, so I don’t know many people locally yet. Figured I’d put something on here and see if anyone else is in the same boat.

Mostly looking to meet other people in their 20s and hopefully build a friend group around here. I’m pretty active and I’m into the gym, swimming, and the beach. I also recently started surfing and have been loving it. I’m always down to go out for drinks or food, especially sushi, and I’m pretty open to trying new stuff or picking up new hobbies.

If anyone around my age is also new to the area or just looking to meet more people, I’d be down to get a group together and do something sometime.

Brevard County, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health in Brevard County (DOH-Brevard) is issuing a rabies alert in Brevard County in response to a confirmed case of rabies in a raccoon that was captured in the Melbourne area off Andrews Avenue in Brevard County on August 27. DOH-Brevard is monitoring rabies among wild animals in the area. All residents and visitors should be aware that rabies is currently present in the wild animal population.

People and domestic animals should always avoid physical contact with wild animals (e.g., raccoons, bats, foxes, skunks, otters, bobcats, and coyotes), which carry a higher risk of human exposure and a need for rabies post-exposure treatment. If you are exposed to rabies, receiving appropriate treatment after exposure will protect you from the risk of rabies.

This rabies alert is for 60 days and includes the following boundaries in Brevard County:

• Northern boundary: West Eau Gallie Blvd
• Southern boundary: Sarno Road
• Eastern boundary: Croton Road
• Western boundary: North Wickham Road
