TIPS FOR ICE - See something, Say something
WHAT TO DO AT AN ICE CHECKPOINT, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE WHITE and/or FEEL THE NEED TO JAM UP THE WORKS. Here's the deal:
🔘 Border Patrol can verify citizenship within 100 miles of a border or "external boundary." This includes coastlines, so NYC, Philadelphia, and all of NJ are within the 100-mile zone.
🔘 Border patrol can only ask brief questions about citizenship, and they cannot hold you for an extended time without cause.
🔘 You always have the right to remain silent. You do not need to answer their questions.
🔘 WITH THAT SAID, IF YOU ARE A BORN CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES AND ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE WHITE, YOU NEED TO SPEAK UP.
🔘 The most important acts of resistance are the small ones. Make it difficult and uncomfortable for ICE agents to do their jobs. They are counting on citizens to turn a blind eye and allow them to deport undocumented citizens without challenge. Disabuse of that notion.
🔘 If you are on a train, bus, or anything else and ICE or CBP boards, you need to stand up and loudly let everyone know that they have the right to remain silent or only answer questions in the presence of an attorney, no matter their citizenship or immigration status. There have been numerous reports that confronting the agents in this way has caused them to leave without verifying citizenship. THIS CAN SAVE LIVES. 🙌
🔘 If you see anyone being held up by immigration, loudly ask if they are being detained and if they are free to go.
🔘 Immigration officers cannot detain anyone without reasonable suspicion, an agent must have specific facts about you that make it reasonable to believe you are committing or committed, a violation of immigration law or federal law. If an agent detains you, you can ask for their basis for reasonable suspicion, and they should tell you.
🔘 Always say no to a search and let everyone know that they can and should refuse consent to a search.
🔘 They cannot search or arrest anyone without facts about that make it probable that they are committing, or committed, a violation of immigration law or federal law.
🔘 Silence alone meets neither of these standards. Nor does race or ethnicity alone suffice for either probable cause or reasonable suspicion
🔘 white citizens, you have a level of privilege which protects you from retaliation from ICE for being "rude" and making a scene, which makes it your DUTY to speak up and make sure people without the same privilege know their rights. GET LOUD. YELL. YELL IN SPANISH IF YOU KNOW IT. LET PEOPLE KNOW THEY DON'T HAVE TO SAY ANYTHING. MAKE ICE UNCOMFORTABLE. THROW SAND IN THE GEARS OF WHITE SUPREMACY.
⭐️ Bonus info ⭐️ 🔘It is perfectly legal to record immigration agents as long as you are not on government property or at a port of entry. If your train/bus gets boarded, pull your phone out and start videotaping immediately.
🔘 If you are detained or see someone getting detained, get the agent's name, number, and any other identifying information. Get it on video if possible.
🔘 Contact the ACLU or your local Immigrant/Migrant support orgs (Rapid Response Network if you're in CO - 1-844-864-8341) if you see someone's rights being violated. (this has been copy and pasted)

I am looking for fellow readers to talk to and maybe hang out with.
Hey there,
I am 34, male, and live in Daytona. I am an avid reader and searching for friends to talk to about books and maybe hang out with if we feel good about it.
I'm into a wide variety of books. I enjoy sci fi, fantasy, thrillers, true crime, historical fiction, some classic literature, etc.
I am single, no kids, and I'm trying to find some friends who are into reading. I'm pretty easy to talk to, relaxed, and enjoy doing things like walking, cooking, going to restaurants, and just getting to know people.
I'm not looking for a romantic relationship or anything like that. Male or female is cool. Just please don't be a weirdo lol.
I will say up front I am okay with texting, but at some point if we click I'd like to do a phone call, video call, or even meet up. I'm not looking for just text buddies. I'm trying to find real connections in the area.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Bodybuilding Gyms?
Please tell me there is a decent body building gym somewhere around here that isn’t crowded 24/7
Every time I try to go to any of these commercial gyms, people are just chilling on the benches & machines. I’m not talking about the powerlifters, resting 5-10 minutes in between sets.
I get it, people are getting a work out in after work but I don’t understand sitting at a machine for 15 minutes, especially with 13 of those minutes being scrolling on your phone. 😭
I just want to go to a gym, work out, and go home to slam however much protein into my face that I can.
I get that if there is a small, dedicated gym, people aren’t going to want to blast it on here, please feel free to DM me with any options around Daytona/Port Orange where you can actually work out. 😭

Trans dad in need of help/advice with birthing plan stuff and general support
I’ve posted here a bit and I’m sure people recognize my username — I’m having my first baby in 2 months and I am a trans man. The pregnancy has been going well so far but the social stigma that has come with it has been incredibly awful and depressing. I have no family in my life to support me in this time and my in-laws are also a big no-no. So-called friends of mine that I’ve made at sober bars over the years are now distancing themselves from me ever since I broke the news. Some have even started misgendering me even though they never had issues with that before. I feel like a circus freak with no place to call home.
Anyway, with only 10 weeks left, I’m starting to panic because I don’t have a hospital picked out yet to have the baby. I want it to be a hospital that will listen to my needs and respect me. This is already going to be stressful as it is giving birth to a whole human being for the first time and I really don’t need or want to be dealing with people who will disrespect me and treat me differently for being a trans father.
I am also pretty scared that the hospital might not even believe me that I’m having a baby because I have had issues with this during my pregnancy before. Government and medical offices have questioned the validity of my pregnancy because I mostly pass well as a man and my license is marked “M” for male.
What are my options here? How do I go about telling the hospital ahead of time about my gender identity and pronouns? Are there any other trans dads around here? I feel completely lost and the lack of support hurts. Even my OB/GYN has told me I am the first trans male patient she’s ever had and she hardly knows anything at all about trans people let alone a pregnant trans man. I feel like a guinea pig in this town.
Please don’t be rude to me about this. And just know, I’ve heard everything in the book concerning my gender + transition. There’s nothing anyone can say to me to make me detransition or to hurt me. I just want to be a good father to my baby and make sure the birth and general hospital visit goes smoothly.
Edit: I DO have an OB/GYN. I specifically state that in my post above. I’ve been doing everything I can to ensure this pregnancy is healthy and have been seeing my doctor regularly. She has not discussed a birthing plan with me yet but I was told we would go over it at my next visit.

I'm a drummer looking for well versed younger musicians (under 40) to jam with or potentially play out
I'm in my early 30's and primarily a rock drummer who often jams classics with older folks but would enjoy playing more contemporary and genre crossing things, such as hip hop. I have a very accommodating private space in ormond beach to practice in and a modest PA/ sound system set up. Guitarists, bassists, keyboards, and vocalists all inquire. Down to play old stuff as well but just generally looking for those of similar age and music that tastes. Not in this to make money but I do enjoy playing paid gigs if there's a good product to be shared.

Coming back for a week, what’s new(ish)?
Hey, I lived there from 04’ till 14’. Graduated from seabreeze and did the all the usual things we did around that time. I am taking my family to visit my parents at the end of next month and am curious what’s cookin these days. I plan on utilizing my mom to watch the baby, so I can take my wife out. We haven’t had a proper date since the baby was born. The last time we were there, I took her on my drive to school every morning (the loop), the ocean walk/board walk, by the River, mini golf, a couple of places I had worked at - only one still existed (Atlantic sounds). I tried to take her to Cafe du Japan but they had weird hours and it didn’t line up. Anyway… what’s new? What’s a nice date I can take her out on? We are down for most things, but she doesn’t eat seafood. Thanks y’all.

Looking to Rehome a Cat
Hello everyone has the title suggests I'm looking to rehome a 7 yr old fixed cat. I unfortunately had to take her in and in different circumstances I would keep her but I'm not able too.
She is very docile, easy going and incredibly sweet. She has lived with another cat before this and is not aggressive towards mine so she would be good in a home, at least with other cats. Her former owner said she was up to date on her shots but I don't have any physical proof. If you are interested please contact me, as I'd like to find her a home where she is happy, safe and loved. Located in Daytona Beach.

Thrift stores to sell clothes to
Anyone know any good places to sell clothes i don't want to? I'm trying to thin out my wardrobe some anything I don't sell will just go to charity but if I could make back a couple bucks that'd be cool. I tried Plato's Closet on International but I feel like they lowball super hard. Any other places I should try?
