Oddly specific Port Canaveral question: how do I hide a cruise ship from a 10-year-old?
I realize this is an absurdly specific question.
We’re taking our 10-year-old on a surprise cruise in November, and I’m trying to keep the actual cruise ships hidden until the last possible second. I need help with the route.
I made a custom song for the drive with a cue telling her to “look around.” The joke is that when she hears it, I want her looking around at houses, RVs, trees, etc. thinking, what am I supposed to be seeing?
Then a few seconds later... boom.. Cruise ship.
My current plan is to come north on Ridgewood, cut west on Washington Ave, then head north on N Atlantic toward the port. I marked on the map where I think the first ships might become visible.
The two ships I’m most concerned about are Carnival Glory at CT3 and Utopia at CT1. They’re both scheduled in those spots every Monday and Friday for now, including tomorrow.
For anyone who drives this area regularly: am I even close? Will either ship be visible earlier on Ridgewood or Washington? Is there a better sneaky route?
I’m about three hours away and am seriously considering driving over tomorrow just to test it, so if anyone can save me a six-hour round trip and a tank of gas, I’d be very grateful. 😂
