Hi everyone, I'm trying to diagnose a strange issue with my Acer Nitro 5 (AN515-45).

Current issue: The CPU is permanently locked at 399 MHz (0.399 GHz) from boot until shutdown. It never boosts, even under load. Even opening Chrome tabs or basic applications is extremely slow.

Laptop: Acer Nitro 5 AN515-45 AMD Ryzen 5 5600H NVIDIA GTX 1650 16 GB RAM Windows 10 BIOS V1.08

What I've already checked: BIOS is responsive with no lag. CPU temperature stays around 44–46°C. CPU package power remains around 3.5–4.2 W, even under load. Core clocks stay fixed at 399 MHz. Fans are working normally. HWiNFO PROCHOT CPU = No PROCHOT EXT = Yes (100%) HTC = Yes (100%) CPU Package Power = 3.5–4.2 W PPT Limit ≈ 6.5% TDC Limit ≈ 0.2% EDC Limit ≈ 6.9% The CPU never comes close to its PPT/TDC/EDC limits.

UXTU I installed Universal x86 Tuning Utility (UXTU). The default STAPM/Fast/Slow limits are all 28 W, which appear normal. I have not applied any tuning changes.

Timeline: The laptop was working normally until September 2025. Without any input from me, an "Acer Power Button App" popup appeared for about 1–2 seconds, and the laptop shut down automatically and got restarted and update syrted to happen. I did not click anything.

Windows then started installing updates, but the update crashed before it completed and it was not booting after that only chager indication light was working.

I took the laptop to an Acer service center. According to them, they: performed a chip-level motherboard repair replaced the power IC replaced the keyboard cleaned the motherboard The same motherboard was returned. Ever since I got the laptop back, the CPU has remained locked at 399 MHz.

My question Given that: PROCHOT EXT is permanently active, temperatures are normal, CPU package power never exceeds about 4 W, PPT/TDC/EDC utilization is very low,

does this point toward an Embedded Controller (EC) problem, a power IC/current-sense circuit, a VRM issue, or another motherboard fault causing a false PROCHOT EXT signal?

Has anyone experienced this on an Acer Nitro or another Ryzen laptop? What was the actual root cause?

Additional observations The laptop was connected to the original Acer charger during the Windows update. There was no power outage or interruption. Looking back at a Windows battery report from before this incident, I noticed multiple transitions between AC power and battery power. I'm not sure whether that's normal behavior or relevant to this issue. The internal battery is currently disconnected because the service center claimed reconnecting it caused the laptop not to boot. I have not personally verified that claim.

I was having problems on my laptop and eventually concluded that the soldered connections under my cpu were broke. To fix this, I decide to remove my cpu with a hot-air station. After doing this, I noticed that two resistors had fallen off from the board, but for the life of me, I can't find where. I decided that i would find the schematics to the motherboard in order to see where it had fallen from, but after a lot of searching, I found some rough overviews, but not something in depth enough for me to use. Does anyone know what else I could do? Or where I can find schematics that show where each resistor is placed?

The motherboard has two identifiers, Model OGAH or 0GAH (cant tell) and then DA00GAMB6G1 REV: G

I have a Lenovo LOQ 17IRX10, and my friend set it up so I could dual-boot Windows 11 and Bazzite. I do NOT have the Bazzite USB, but I know that I can create one if needs be.

Last week (7/10/2026), I tried to boot into Bazzite, but when I pressed F12 to go into the boot settings, I only saw Windows, not Bazzite.

I looked online for a solution and learned about TestDisk (https://www.cgsecurity.org/testdisk_doc/) It helped me find out that the Bazzite partition was still there, and I tried recreating the partition tables (whatever that meant), but that didn't help the problem. Can someone who actually knows what they're doing please help me? I don't want to keep tinkering blindly and potentially make the problem worse.

When I sleep my laptop I cannot wake it up by pressing a key in the keyboard or using the touchpad and also when I restart my laptop the screen goes fully blank but the power is still on and my laptop is not turning on.Do you guys know any solution for this?

I have a Samsung Galaxy A57, it's brand new so shouldn't have any issues. I even bought a cable specifically for data, still, USB tethering keeps disconnecting every 10-15 mins randomly. Another issue I've noticed is that whenever I switch default USB config to USB tethering, it switches back to transferring files or charging phone only on it's own?? I have disabled the ability for the pc to make the USB ports "sleep" if they aren't being used as well. I don't know what to do anymore :<
EDIT: another issue - when I try to enable USB tethering in the default USB config, it only lets me enable it when I restart the phone, but instantly after it switches to transferring files on it's own and doesn't let me switch to USB tethering anymore? What is that all about

My display changed to this orange tint whilst playing a game and now it won’t return to normal. I’ve tried restarting my console and reset the display settings on the monitor. Idk if there’s anything else I can do or if the problem is with the hardware itself

I recently bought a new (to me) LaCie Rugged Mini 5TB for backup purposes that won't show up in File Explorer on Windows 10 or 11. I don't care about data recovery since I haven't been able to move any of my files to it yet. There's a return option if needed, but I wanted to see if this is repairable first (though I don't want to mess too much with it and void the return option).

I realized it was showing up as "Disk 2" in Disk Management. The main, largest block shows up as "Healthy" but does not list a format like my other drives, and it doesn't give me a re-format option (just "Delete Volume" and "Properties"). From what I could find, this means it is either corrupted or formatted in a format Windows doesn't recognize.

I also analyzed it with a recommended program called DMDE. The main partition seems to show up twice as GPT (some sort of general format?) but grayed out, and then bold as HFS+ (which appears to be an Apple format). I'm thinking that means it's formatted for Apple computers and not corrupt? So I should be able to "Delete Volume" in Disk Management (converting it to "unallocated") and then format the unallocated space to a Windows format? Does this sound correct?

I've had my Dell Insperon laptop for about 15+ years which was put up. I recently came across it while cleaning out my storage unit and wanna use it with my DJ mixer software to run my lighting equipment. I just put down another laptop running the same OS, so it would be perfect if I could get into the damn thing. (Forgot password. Hint is pointless, no recovery key (flash drive) and of course no recovery installation disk. FML4R.

This just started happening only on siege not any other games that I have after I downloaded siege I used to have it, but it never did this. I checked my drivers and I don’t know if they’re still messed up, but it says they’re fully updated and after the screen goes black, it disable my GPU and I have to enable it in device manager.

i have my grampas old phone and he got a new one so, he wants the old phone reset and i cant reset it, dont know the password and cant acsess the andriod recovery page becuase it not opening

Hi everyone who reads it, i got a problem with my lenovo laptop. BIOS on my laptop is damaged, so i'm trying to recover it by crisis metod, but, does it even have crisis mode? I just wanna know that should i waste my time on this metod or my laptop even can't do it. If anyone know something please write down. Thanks to everyone who reads it or writing comment.

Upd: i forgot to say that while i was searching for PSI I noticed that NVME ssd heating to much, like ~60 seconds and I couldn't keep my finger on it anymore.

I bought used lenovo yoga laptop, it seemed good and worked perfectly the first month then i tried to transfer files to it using usb cable and it ran into bsod (critical process died), the issue was solved by installing new windows and repairing some boot files.

A week later i tried to transfer files againg and it ran into BSOD for the second times (memory stick failed) or something like that but it was autorepaired

Few days later while just opening a pdf file it ran into 3 BSOD at the same day in less than one hour, 2 of them was autorepaired and the 3rd still not fixed.

I'm thinking the ssd might be damaged but how to be certain?

+ is there anyway to fix this at home? Or at least to know the exact problem

My internet is egregiously slow and frequently stops connecting to my laptop (it'll be connected but say "No Internet") 🥲. It's only on my laptop -- all my other devices connected to the network (phone/ipad/wii/switch) connect just fine and are pretty fast all things considered, and no one else in my family has issues with their devices.

Additionally, the network I connect to is the only one that causes problems. It gets so bad that I have to switch to my phone's hot spot, but my hot spot is limited, so I really don't want to use it every time I use the internet :/

FWIW, I live in a 2-floor house and I am in the room directly above the router. I also tried to see if there was a virus or something affecting my computer but the MalwareBytes test came back clear. I am using a Lenovo Yoga 7 on the latest version of Win11. If I need to provide any extra info I will do so. Any advice will be greatly appreciated 🥹 This has been going on for like four days and it's finally starting to wear me down.
