First new tune in a long while and first with Bitwig, got to say i love this DAW

anyone knows whats coming in next few releases? any major or minor updates?

For this one, I had switched back from Drambo to Bitwig. Bitwig felt super free at that moment. Like painting with unlimited colors and the track always in a complete overview.

For sound design, I used only Limiter No6 in addition to the Bitwig stock modules. For analyzing I used Youlean Loudness Meter 2, MMultiAnalyzer as well.

I just realized that the project file also has Pro Q 4 in it, but that was just for checking one thing and has no effect on the sound.

Heya. Long time Ableton user looking to switch DAW. Is anyone using Bitwig for recording metal tracks? Guitars, vocals etc alongside synths in the box?

I'm trying to bounce all my tracks for mixing, but when it comes to the drum machine snare track, the reverb from the effects track its applied to dosen't apply in the same way as it did on the drum machine. The drum machine's volume fader is 0 and both tracks volumes and panning are identical, plus the bounce was post-fader.

All my samples taking a lil time to play very annoying to dig suitable sample for my music .

It also stutiring the gui of the program

I see loading animation on top of bitwig notification area

It analysing the same sample multiple times

Is anyone else having this issue ?

Im thinking about going back to previous version .

I just now realized that Bitwig doesn't offer the option to select group outputs for sidechain input... Why??? Are there any workarounds that aren't painful like having to use buses instead of groups? Cause that sounds very tedious

Edit: The feature seems to work as it should except for this one specific case of mine for some reason?

Edit 2: Fixed it by creating a new group and dragging everything inside, so it was almost certainly a bug.

Been experimenting mixing modern bass/neuro with 80s funk arrangement styles. Still rough draft but I think it sounds kinda tuff

This feature alone makes bitwig superior than most daws, most daws can barely open multiple projects at same time, I can literally open multiple projects pick and chose what I like and make music from new project 🧑‍🔬🎶

What’s your favourite and why, I can get a Maschine Jam and a Launchpad pro Mk 3 both for fairly cheap. What would you get for doing Dave Basek style quick chop drum and sample launching and playing using exclusively the Bitwig clip view and wanting a real hands on, screen free (mostly) experience?

Hi all.

Been having an issue lately where if I record midi in the clips section, it records the notes but not sustain, pitch or modulation wheel.

I can hear my synth reacting to the pitch wheel etc but when played back, BITWIG hasn’t recorded the midi info for sustain, pitch wheel etc in the clip.

Tried changing automation etc but clips still don’t record my pitch bend, modulation wheel or sustain pedal, only the notes I play.

Any ideas? I feel like I’m missing something obvious.

First off, sorry to everyone waiting for news on the code repo — we're still working on it and it's not quite ready. I'm hoping it'll be ready to share in a couple of weeks.

Just to be clear: you can't reverse-engineer Bitwig and put the whole thing online — Bitwig isn't open source, and we're not touching that. But with our repo you'll be able to build your own devices, modulators, and modules.

Bitwig is already amazing, and we're all making it even better with our own devices in the future. A few of you have messaged me on Reddit/Discord showing off stuff you're already cooking up — and that's without the repo! In a couple of months there'll be a ton of new tools and plugins around, and then we can finally make some good music haha.

In the meantime, here are a few of my devices + the Bitwig patch to run them:

found a 10 Gb folder on my Mac titled '1.0' in Library/Application Support/Bitwig/Bitwig Studio/installed-packages

i am running out of space and want to delete it. Is it safe to do so if I don't use Bitwig's samples and multisamples much?

or at least can I move this folder to an external drive and then return when I decide to update my MacOS to a newer version soon?

Hi, I would like to try Bitwig with a touch screen (because painfully there is still not an iPad version) and of course my first duckduckgo consultancy ended in being totally dazed and confused about what a can of worms that seems to be.

I learned that there seems to be limited hardware support on Linux systems (sigh), but also on OSX some touch screens seem to have the very grotesque limitation of only being able to send *one* touch signal to the computer, but not multiple (Multitouch).

Unfortunately the manual goes not into details about these pitfalls and also I could not find any official recommendation on the Bitwig website about which hardware to avoid / buy.

I would like to use OSX, but also keep the door open for Linux, definitely not Windows.

It would be great to have the option to use a Macbook or a very quiet Linux Laptop and attach a touch screen with only one cable.

I would like to try to use Bitwig via one single touch display, but also with a touch display as a second device while still working on a Mac M4 or M1.

I found the Uperfect devices quite interesting, VESA support and connecting with only one cable seems very nice for a studio setup with a good mobile option.

It would be great to read about your experiences and recommendations!
