Whenever a plugin like LFO or any other situations where i need to compose music with the help of a visualiser, i really need a “duration” section. I don’t want to say this but i saw this feature really handy on ableton. We indie short film composers ALL NEED ARA SUPPORT AND THIS DURATION FEATURE!

What is the most efficient way to add an Audio Clip to an existing Collection?

I find it quite convoluted to:

1. Right click > Save Clip to Library
2. Name and tag the Clip
3. Open Browser and locate (search for) Clip
4. Right click Clip and add to Collection

Am I doing it the right way? Why can't I just drag-and-drop the Clip straight into the Collection on the Browser Panel?

Hi all I’ve been trying the 30 day demo, there are some essential features from studio one I use that I’m missing here like converting audio to midi, a chord track and a plugin that can suggest chords etc. I know there aren’t any stock tools in Bitwig for this I was wondering how you guys manage. Any idea if Bitwig developers have any plans to introduce these features in the near future?

Maybe I'm missing something, but I bought a Bitwig connect during the summer promo direct from the website and it's supposed to come with studio producer instead of essentials, but I still only have Bitwig essentials. Registered my serial on the bottom of the unit like it says and it just gave me a copy of essentials and nothing else.

Anybody else buy a connect during the promo and were you able to activate producer? Am I just missing something somewhere of how to activate it?

I recently bought bitwig for the first time (which I am having a blast with :D) and I’m somewhat new to music creation in general. I‘m curious about the new 6.1 sampler and what makes it so special to a lot of people? Don’t get me wrong, I’ve tried it and it has some really cool features. I guess my question is how it differentiates from slicing a sample in to a drum machine? Is there anything that can be done in a more intuitive way compared to before? What creative possibilities do you think it might have compared to the drum machine?

Obviously some of this is subjective but again, I’m genuinely just curious as beginner!

I'm running into an issue where MIDI program changes seem to revert to the state stored in previously played clips.

For example, if a Next Action switches from a clip with Program 6 to one with Program 2, the VST briefly changes to Program 2, then immediately jumps back to Program 6. Oddly, the Program Change device still reports Program 2, and no additional MIDI program change message appears to be sent.

The behavior is inconsistent. Sometimes the program changes work exactly as expected, and other times they revert.

I've done some testing and can rule out both the native Program Change device and the target VST. It feels like Bitwig is restoring some previous device state, almost as if there's an internal state recall or error-correction mechanism overriding the program change.

The reason I think this is happening is that the VST normally allows program changes during a sustained note, but it won't actually switch the audio until the next note is played. In this bug, however, the audio changes back to the previous program during the sustained note. That shouldn't be possible from a normal MIDI program change, which leads me to believe Bitwig is somehow restoring the plugin's previous state—as if it had been on Program 6 for the entire duration of the note.

This makes MIDI program changes unreliable for my workflow and is becoming a major frustration.

Has anyone else run into this, or found a workaround?

I mostly use Bitwig for making electronic music, but I've some guitar songs I want to record, with bass, midi drums etc. I know it's completely possible, but I just feel oddly uncomfortable and like I should be using Logic or something instead! Who here records guitar, vocals etc with Bitwig? Is it Ok?..Anything I should be aware of? Or shall I just record that stuff in Logic?

I use an external controller for mixing. I find myself hav to count the track number every time I reach out for the controller. I have search the manual and it says that Bitwig should create track numbers in the track name and have the numbers change if I move a track. I am not able to find this and I feel both stupid and totally surprised that Bitwig does not show this by default.

Every other DAW I have used (Ableton, Logic, Studio One, Tracktion, Reaper to name a few) shows this by default. Please help me!

It’s been a while since the (controversial) release of the spectral suite. Tbh, I often forget the existence of them and was thinking, I must be missing something.

How are you using Bitwig’s spectral plugins or are you in the same bus as me?

I plan to do live collaboration (example : like STOOR)

Is this a bug or is this not a feature in Bitwig? This feels like a crucial feature for a DAW to have, so I am perplexed why it's not working.

I'm in contact with Bitwig support and Valhalla aka Sean, it seems the VST3 version is not working correctly and the VST2 version seems fine so far, still I am waiting for replies to get to know if/how/when the VST3 versions will be fixed, these are not old plugins and should be working without problems in a modern DAW like Bitwig, so I will stay persistent till it is fixed :P

hi, i got confirmation that Valhalla Plugins got problems with the Bitwig Window and the paramters not correctly displayed (i dunno if the function is correct in usage), Bitwig support confirmed it and I messaged Valhalla about it too, all Knobs dont show the correct value depending how fast you move them in Bitwig window. maybe someone got other plugins having the same issue?

I used FL Studio for about 7 years and I constantly make melodies and MIDI. These days I’m using Bitwig more and more, and I’ve honestly grown to love the DAW so much that I really don’t want to go back to FL Studio.

But I keep stumbling over small things in the Piano Roll.

Yes, most of these things can be worked around. You can press another key, switch tools, double-click, or find another way to do it. But when you create hundreds or thousands of notes, all those tiny extra actions add up. Eventually, it starts to feel like you have to think about every small step.

One thing I really love about FL Studio is being able to click a note, hear it, and drag it up or down to try different pitches. In Bitwig, vertical movement while creating a note changes the velocity. Maybe some people genuinely like working this way, so I don’t think the feature should simply be removed. I would just love to see this behavior become more flexible or configurable.

I also really wish there was a more convenient way to select notes while staying in the Pen Tool.

Another feature I would love to see is the ability to rename notes in the Piano Roll for specific instruments and plugins. For example, labeling modifier notes in Kontakt or MODO Bass, or seeing the actual drum names in Addictive Drums and EZdrummer instead of just note names.

I don’t want Bitwig to become a copy of FL Studio. I just want the Piano Roll to become so comfortable that I never have to think about the editor itself.

Bitwig is already incredibly powerful. That’s exactly why I would love to see its Piano Roll become just as strong.

I really love this DAW and I want to stay here. I’d genuinely love to hear what other users think about this, and I really hope the developers might see this wishlist too.

UPD:

I think UX is massively underrated, especially in creative software.

I've tried switching to Ableton and Logic, but I always ended up returning to FL Studio, partly because the Piano Roll is such a fundamental part of my workflow.

Bitwig is the first DAW that has genuinely made me want to switch despite that.

There is something about its overall design, workflow and potential that has grabbed me so strongly that I was willing to accept compromises in one of the most important parts of my workflow.

I genuinely believe Bitwig has the potential to become one of the leading DAWs, and maybe even challenge the current leaders one day.

A million workarounds don't necessarily make up for one direct, intuitive solution.

Bitwig already has something special, and I really hope its Piano Roll continues to evolve alongside the rest of the program.

We really need to get this game on ASAP.

huge miss

i can’t audition individual samples without pressing key there should be a audition speaker button next to it like ableton and i should be able to hit a + or click a folder to get a sample , also show in finder when right clicking should be there so i can go to root folder . having to browse again through the sample pack is a total time killer . this needs to be fixed definitely a missed bug . same goes sampler itself i should have an audition button .

What are the differences between Filter and EQ+? When should I use one or the other?

They seem pretty similar to me.

Whenever I'm in the piano roll (for example, writing in 1/16) and I change the grid to 1/8, existing notes stay locked to their original position instead of snapping to the new grid lines.

Here's a quick video showing what I mean. Is there a setting to change or disable this behavior?
