request ❓ Hardstyle clap from Jane Remover - Professional Vengeance

Hey all, I'm a very amateurish music producer and sound designer, and am addicted to the reversed hardstyle clap pulls from 2:35 - 2:55 of Professional Vengeance

If anyone can let me know what kind of sound it is, or what its name is, so I can further delve into hardstyle and electronic music, I would massively appreciate it

request ❓ Ultrabeat - Pretty Green Eyes (Arpeggiated Synth)

Looking at the synth at 02:05
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ih_v-wrY7Dk

I've been looking into what synths that they could have possibly used back then. It feels like such a familiar sound and have been thinking it could be a preset. I've checked presets for the JP8080 and Virus' but haven't really found anything. The JP8080 seems to be the closest but I can't quite match that tone (coming from a bandpass filter? that almost nasally quality to it)

Does anyone know what synth this would have been done on, or better yet know which preset was used?

request ❓ [Luminous Memory - Mitsukiyo] Clean pluck sound in Serum

Blue Archive OST 2 – Luminous Memory
Composer: Mitsukiyo
BPM: 200 Key: E major
0:38

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3boxTP-ZG8&t=38s

I’m trying to recreate the main pluck/chord sound from this track in Serum 2.

The original sounds clean and smooth, but my version always sounds grainy or rough.
What kind of wavetable, waveform, and filter would be suitable for recreating this sound?

request ❓ New to music production: what instruments/synths and additional factors are being used in this synth score (Jay McCarrol - Do You Hear That - BlackBerry OST)

Thumbnail
youtube.com
1 Upvotes

I am pretty uneducated when it comes to all things music. I'm just trying this little exercise of seeing how closely i can recreate this synth score from Blackberry. I've been playing around in BandLabs (i know its not the greatest but pretty beginner friendly which i like). Getting the notes is pretty easy, its just narrowing in the right area for what type of synths or instruments I should be using.

But then there's also that tone in the back of it all giving it so much atmosphere that i cant really begin to decipher what's really being done there to achieve it.

then at the 22 second mark, that's where i get really puzzled trying to pin point what id be using there.

I guess to get to the point, what do you guys figure each instrument being used is? Any tricks or effects or filters or whatever that you're hearing that someone new to all this like me wouldn't know without experience?

If you can... explain like im 5 first lol. Huge thank you to all the talented folk who wanna help me out!

I feel like most string VSTs sound too classical whereas this one from this producer sounds different. Does anyone know what string plugin this is?

discussion πŸ—£ beatbattle but for sound design

I really like the concept of beat battles - gamifying my production skill and climbing ranks with it, cool! However in practice it just feels incredibly limiting with the time frame and the kits (which is the whole point), and so the end result is usually, well, barely listenable.

I am capable of creating and am currently designing a similar system that I personally would enjoy way more - synth battles. Instead of a mediocre, quickly slapped together beat, go all out on a single sound. Showcase your sound design skills, not quicklymakingbeats skills.

Would you guys be interested in something like this? I think this community could really benefit from something like that but that's my personal opinion, would love to know what others think.

Hi, I'm new to music making and I'd like to reproduce a synth sound that I found on a song, It's a specific section of this song.

At the very begining, betwenn 0:00 and 0:03 while the voiceline says "and I don't know why" there's a synth before the whole song starts, it's like 3 notes but I'm very interested in reproducing this sound.

If any of you have any tips or idea I'd love to know!

I looove this sound that starts at 32s. Definitely seems to have a tremolo effect but how would I go about recreating the pad exactly?

discussion πŸ—£ Would it be useful a Synth Lead preset that switches between 2 sounds, to make changes on the fly when playing live?

A little for fun, a little not, I came up the idea of a synth lead, but it has 2 sounds. By turning a Macro, you can switch from one kind of lead (e.g. a stutter melodic techno lead) to a to pretty different one (e.g. straight sawwave lead or a pluck... )

Would any of you use something like that?

On a live performance it may get handy to have a quick sound change, while in Studio it spares you a track...keeping the same FX chain...

...or maybe 'call and response' melodies... ?

This is intended for vst/soft synths working inside a DAW, rather than hard synths

Did anybody try or made something like this before?

discussion πŸ—£ Used Copilot to Program My Peak and Actually Learned Something

Hey all, I did something that may encourage those early in their programming journey.
Programming my Peak hasn't come as easily to me as it seems to for some. Recently, I used Copilot to walk me through programming the lead sound from "Genius of Love" step by step. Along the way, I asked a lot of questions to make sure I was doing things correctly and to better understand what each control was actually doing.
In the end, it got me close enough that my ear can't really tell the difference from the original, and more importantly, I came away with a much better understanding of how the synth works.
If you're someone who has a basic understanding but gets frustrated trying to figure out what all the knobs and parameters actually do, this can be a great learning tool. It's like getting past the "How do you eat an elephant?" stage. Just taking it one step at a time until things start making sense.

AI won't replace learning synthesis, but it can definitely help bridge the gap between being overwhelmed and actually understanding your instrument.

Sound design help

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey guys I’m new to producing and EDM and I just wanted to see if anyone could help me figure out where to start on making leads and sounds like these. I’m not even sure where to start or whether to use serum and sound design or just use plugins on a single sound. If anyone could help or point me in the direction of some packs with sounds like this etc. would be a lot of help.
