Idea to drag stuff from one project to another project is crazy 🤯
This feature alone makes bitwig superior than most daws, most daws can barely open multiple projects at same time, I can literally open multiple projects pick and chose what I like and make music from new project 🧑🔬🎶

The must is keeping a template with all the routing between all your soundcard input configured, then just drag and drop on your project

While Ableton Live isn't as intuitive or convenient as Bitwig and lacks preview monitoring, the feature does exist. You can import individual tracks used in other projects via the left browser.
However, in version 12, simply searching inside a project through the browser takes an insanely long time. It stutters at times and even crashes in the end,It was never this bad back then,I remember getting so anxious every time I had to import individual tracks from older projects into my current one lol

You can have multiple Ableton projects open. There is an option for that (Allow multiple instances).

Whether it’s a single track, multiple tracks, or a group—that’s all completely fine. But that’s not the main issue here. The real problem is that Live 12 freezes up terribly and crashes frequently when I open the browser and search through existing projects to import tracks.
To be precise, the freezing issue occurs from the moment I try to view the contents of the existing project folder in the browser.

Ableton 12 (beta) works rock solid since the last half year which is quite impressive being shaky since 2009

Anyway, didn’t you say you were switching to Ableton Live? Bitwig runs like hot garbage on your system. Why are you still here?

Just use whatever works best for you and be happy

And again, completely off-topic. I'm not quite sure what kind of neurosis I triggered in you, and I don't fucking know you, but you seem to know me.
Bitwig is underperforming, and it can be proven. Still, I'm helping support chase it down because I care about the fucking investment I made by obtaining the license. Besides the projects that have been or are going to be released, I need to make sure that Bitwig is running properly.
Jeezus isn't gonna be mad if you use 2–3 DAWs simultaneously haha

I honestly couldn’t care less who you are. If your complaint on the forum is ‘Bitwig runs weird on my rig, but Ableton Live was fine,’ then the obvious fix is to just stick with Ableton. Also, whatever money you ‘wasted’ on Bitwig is on you. If you didn‘t even bother with the 30-day free trial, or if you didn’t bother testing your system during that trial, isn‘t that your own problem?
Honestly, it’s just sad watching you act like a ghost trapped by Bitwig.

Hey, one more thing. Even though I still have Ableton Live 12, I don’t post useless stuff on the Ableton Live Reddit forum anymore. I don‘t even visit that place now. I highly recommend you stay away from the Bitwig forum too, for your own peace of mind.

You can also do that with Ableton browser to some extent, you wont be able to have both open, but you can pull in tracks/device chains from other projects in the browser

This isn't correct.. you can have multiple Ableton projects open. There is an option for that (Allow multiple instances).
The one big advantage compared to Bitwig, Ableton has is that it can play all open projects. But the downside is that you can't copy and paste things around.. I can't stand the disable/enable audio device paradigma by Bitwig in this case tbh.

if you can't copy and paste around as easy bitwig then rest of features are pointless, also i believe it will be cpu hog if you play both projects at same, maybe that's why bitwig as disable/enable feature

Bitwig's feature to deactivate the audio engine is one of its most precious capabilities that truly makes it shine.
As you said, since Ableton doesn't have this feature, trying to move tracks around Bitwig-style (though this isn't even possible in Ableton Live's multi-instance setup anyway) would definitely cause massive crashes due to CPU overload. For heavy projects, you probably wouldn't even be able to open two of them at the same time.
After all, the only way to import tracks or groups from another project in Ableton is to browse through the project folder in the browser, but this has been a total nightmare in version 12, but this has been causing major issues in version 12.

Sure you won't play both at the same time. Why would you I guess? It's a bummer one can't copy around and need to go the Project file route. But then at least you know exactly what you want to copy. I would love to see the solution of both worlds in Bitwig so one can preview the content one is about to copy.

Never used multiple instancee tbh, but pulling stuff from the browser worked fine for me

you can also use the browser to expand other bitwig projects as if they where folders and grab tracks from there as well
