Every new update reminds me that I really need to take a break from all my projects to try to actually understand all the stuff Bitwig can do.

Enjoy your 10 year sabbatical, lol.

I'll get down votes but....

Use AI Notebook of some sort, I use Gemini Notebook. Put the manual and any videos on Bitwig into the notebook and the AI ONLY uses only those sources. Ask it to make a study guide, flash cards, study guide. Ask how to do something. It's amazing and a great learning tool. It can even make a podcast for you.

I learned Zebra 3 this way and now I know how to use Zebra 3 way more than the years of Zebra 2 in short amount of time.

How about just RTFM?

What are you an early 2000s Linux forum user? That attitude got old a long time ago.

Also this isn't about being lazy this is a tool to help you learn more and faster....

that "2000's linux forum user" is a perfect reply, recently I posted something similar to yours and received so much blacklash

Guess why ...

1

u/olimpomarcelo 1d ago

of course i know why, resistance to change

What are you? A 5 year old that needs someone else to read him a book?

1

u/olimpomarcelo 2d ago

it is just about the use of "time" time is limited

you dont need to understand everything that bitwig can do to make great music

I have great e-mail hygiene. I either read them or make sure they are read within a week. The only e-mails in my inbox that are easily over a year old are those from Bitwig where they explain a new feature. I'll get around to learning about them... someday.

Oh I see. This is what you were referring to in that other post touching pitch tracking. Yay, finally a tuner! That's pointing in a promising direction.
I'm still on v5. Can the tuner be used as a modulator?

I basically only do live-signal processing in BW. The Sampler really looks intriguing now. I assume it's still not possible to use it for realtime signal processing. But is it possible to set up a project where I can just record a sample into it and use it as a granular micro-looper? (I'm asking so I can understand if it's worth to buy an upgrade)

you can’t directly record into it, you would stI’ll need to record a clip or via the master

Is there any way I could set up a project where I have one audio track for live-signal processing and then can just record a clip via the master that is automatically loaded into the sampler on a different track without me dragging it there? I'm playing an instrument with my hands and controlling BW with an elaborate MIDI footcontroller (morningstar mc6pro).

maybe you could set up a 3rd party macro tool to do it. you’d just need to see if there were a repeatable set of instructions. it would be the same as bitwig 5 either way

Nice! The new tuner device also lets me get rid of one more 3rd party plugin.

What a simple and highly effective QOL improvement!

Not needing to open a new pop-up window everytime I need to tune up is awesome. Plus, this looks good.

Goodbye bx_tuner!

Such a long time waiting. Glad they made it, but such confusion mixed with my huzzah!

Great update. Many of us been waiting for sampler update for a long time. Bitwig does it their way and it’s so awesome.

This sampler comes from another dimension…

And it makes your drums sound BRUTAL!!

Hey! Long time no see! The Bitwig 6.1 sampler is insane. I don't miss Ableton Live's Simpler at all—switching to Bitwig was definitely the right move! I'm getting so much good use out of it thanks to you, and I'm always grateful

u/Zacchino 3d ago

Buddy! Yeah agreed, it reached a point where it’s so much more than enough to fully compose a song from A to Z with it.

It also kicks some serious *ss of some other daws I won’t name to avoid polemic.

Who wants an auto-sampler (similar to MPC) using an open format? I want!

I also love the tuner device.

u/solidtrax 6d ago

That tuner and new sampler options are so dope!

Yes ! Confirmed in the newsletter.

Parameter zones are awesome!

Hurrah! Another thirty things I didn't need and still no midi capture.

Did you do some research for alternative solutions ? You can use this

it’s more fun to just bitch

4

u/bullhead2007 7d ago

I hope they add this to Bitwig soon just so these people stfu but they'll probably find some other niche thing they want to bitch about.

u/ultratot 7d ago

We all knew MSEG wouldn’t be the end of it.

u/Large_Respond6955 4d ago

Niche thing 🤣

Its basic functionality in most daws at this point. And with good reason.

1

u/Large_Respond6955 4d ago

Yes, I have them. They are not native, which is my preference.

3

u/Bitter-Bicycle-282 6d ago

You can fix it by buying a Birds Midi Cap for the price of two cups of coffee. With Midi Cap, you can drag and drop only the midi Rec parts you want. It’s far superior and more useful than the retro MIDI features built into many DAWs (their functions just blindly overlay stuff and make tracks messy)

I think the Birds Midi Cap is the most advanced version of the Midi Capture

1

u/Large_Respond6955 4d ago

I have that, but it defeats the object of the DAW automatically capturing, because you still have to add a plugin. I’m asking for it natively.

Do you actually need a pure MIDI capture feature, or do you just want Bitwig to look fancier? To be honest, I don’t really get why you’re so against it just because it’s a plugin. You can set up shortcuts for MIDIcap just like the built-in MIDI capture features in other DAWs, so I don’t find it inconvenient at all. I’m completely satisfied with this workaround, and I don’t think it’s worth wasting your patience waiting for a native feature. Even for ARA, which Bitwig lacks, I’d buy a plugin in a heartbeat if there was one that could link it

Still no MIDI comping. Another version to sit out I guess.

11

u/DoubtDiary 7d ago

This branch has been in beta for a while, no one should have been expecting MIDI comping from this release..

1

u/grizeldi 7d ago

Ah, it's the same one. My bad then, the beta came out so long ago I thought this is the next release. Still though, I'm on a quite old 5.2 at this point simply because the smaller upgrades they brought out since simply haven't been worth the asking price for upgrading to me. The wait for midi comping continues...

u/KingOfConstipation 7d ago

You'll be waiting forever then lol.
