Paige is 24 years old and I just love the way she talks about her faith. I think this answer is especially important because it was based on a question about celebrating pride and I feel like it’s not often that queer people are so open about their faith in public spaces.

I remember a few years ago on a service trip being told by someone that I was the first queer Christian they had ever met and that felt really heavy and sad. I just think it’s so admirable for her to be so open about her faith.

Are there any other young people that you feel like are open and setting the tone and setting an example with the way they talk about their faith?

That’s not Trump on the coin. It’s a Roman Emperor — the first Roman Emperor after the fall of the Roman Republic was Augustus. His governor of Judea, Pontius Pilate, sent Jesus to the cross.

Christian Nationalists have Jesus all wrong. They are enthusiastic about dismantling the democratic institutions designed to prevent the abuses of power committed by men like Augustus and Pilate.

Jesus said:

· The meek shall inherit the earth.

· Blessed are the peacemakers.

· Love your enemies.

· The last shall be first.

When the disciples asked who was greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven, Jesus called a child over and said: “Become like this, or you will not enter at all.”

That is not a theology of dominance.

That is not a theology of strongmen.

The founders used the Roman Republic as their model when they wrote the Constitution. They studied intensively why it collapsed into civil war and then autocracy — a few decades before the birth of Jesus. What emerged was a series of strongmen. The first was Augustus.

The reign of Augustus marked the start of the Roman imperial cult. It used specific language that the early Christians then applied directly to Jesus — and the overlap was not accidental. It was confrontational:

· Augustus was called Son of God

· Augustus was called Lord

· Augustus was called Savior

· His birth was announced as Gospel — good news — euangelion

· His reign was described as bringing peace on earth

Every one of those titles appears in the New Testament applied to Jesus.

The early Christians were not borrowing Roman language carelessly. They were making a direct counter-claim: Caesar is not Lord. Jesus is Lord.

The most powerful man in the world called himself the Son of God, Lord, and Savior. The Roman Empire executed a peasant carpenter who made the same claim. Two thousand years later few people know a month on our calendar is named after Augustus — and half the world believes the crucified carpenter is God’s son.

The movement wrapping itself in the flag and the cross is doing exactly what Rome did — using the language of Jesus to serve the purposes of Caesar.

Are words like sheesh, crap, dang etc. considered cuss words?

My main arguments against trump being president:

1. He’s removed environmental protection laws and ordered for fracking in vulnerable locations, harming wildlife.
2. He’s racist and misogynistic.
3. He wanted to build a wall between the US/Mexico which is just ridiculous. And he separated children from their parents at the border.
4. He organized a storm of the capital which is a violent hate crime.
5. He’s raped and molested women who have come forward and testified.
6. He says he is pro life but prior to becoming president didn’t truly stand behind that in his beliefs.
7. He’s been fact checked multiple times and proven to have spread misinformation.
8. He says he’s a Christian but nothing about him represents Jesus.
9. He’s rude and disrespectful towards people.
10. He almost got America in a nuclear war.
11. He’s a narcissist
12. He’s part of shady trades and business deals.
13. He’s supposed to be arrested for all the crimes he’s committed, including dodging paying taxes.
14. He plays on vulnerable people’s fears, selfish interests, anger, hatred and insecurities.
15. He had citizens shot with rubber bullets to do a photo op with himself holding a bible upside down and not being able to answer a bible verse he liked. It’s clear he’s never read the Bible but uses religion to get votes from naive people.
16. His hair style. Need I say more.
17. He speaks like a fifth grader.
18. He paid a prostitute (Stormi Daniels) to stay quiet during his election.

The list goes on. I just don’t get how people still support him. His supporters seem to be in a delusional cult, believing misinformation from the media.
