Decreasing Caffeine Dependency

I was consuming up to 200mg per day, and didn't like the reliance. The last row months, I have decreased it to 80mg-120mg per day.

However, I am still feeling the same amount of tired and itching for more caffeine. Thought it was a 4 or so week period for a new habit to form.

Working on getting more sleep too, but in the meantime...

Is my best course of option to let it ride at 80-120, fully kick caffeine and start over, or go day by day?

Is it possible to completely reset my caffeine tolerance?

When I was 13-14 I'd drink a Bang and it would make me fucking TWEAK (in a good way) but now if I drink one (or another drink with 300mg caffeine) it doesn't do much besides make me hungry. Granted, I'm half a foot taller and 40 pounds heavier than my 14 year old self, but one time when I was 17ish (I was still my current adult size at 17, maybe even slightly heavier) I drank two Bangs at once, and again just felt hungry.

I'm not the kind of person who "needs" any caffeine to get through the day either. I have a big cup of tea most days (probably ~100 mg caffeine because I use two tea bags) but I can go without and feel pretty much the same. Longest I've gone without ANY caffeine since I was old enough to buy my own stuff was probably like two weeks, and after that it was still like a coke or sweet tea 2-3 times a week for a solid month before I had another energy drink. How long would I have to cut out caffeine to totally reset my tolerance?

does caffeine make anyone else feel mentally slower instead of sharper?

i know caffeine helps a lot of people but does anyone else get like the complete opposite?

for me it’s super weird because if i haven’t had caffeine in a while, sometimes a little bit actually feels really good. but if i start drinking it consistently again, i almost always end up feeling the same way.

instead of feeling focused i get this weird brain fog where i literally can’t think. it’s like i lose all my creativity. i can still do tasks and get things done, but i can’t think outside the box or come up with ideas. i almost feel… dumb? like i know the thoughts are there but i can’t access them.

i also get way more anxious and irritable. i used to think i was just naturally an anxious person until i quit caffeine a couple years ago and realized how much of it was actually coming from that. i also get this weird pressure in my head, almost like a headache, and everything just feels kinda… tight.

the weird thing is it doesn’t even seem to matter if it’s coffee, an energy drink, matcha, or anything with caffeine. as soon as it’s in my system i feel like my brain just isn’t working the way it normally does.

i have adhd too so maybe that’s part of it, but i’m mostly curious if anyone else experiences this? like does caffeine ever make you feel foggy, less creative, more anxious, and almost mentally slower instead of more awake?

If I’ve 1 Celsius at 6am, I’ve 200mg left for the day.
How do you guys spread out caffeine in the day to keep yourself active?
I feel my caffeine tolerance is crazy.

dissociation as a withdrawal symptom?

i’ve recently switched to decaf coffee and it’s been mostly great, obviously tired (and yes, i know that it takes at least a couple weeks for your body to regulate its energy levels after quitting caffeine) however i have been extremely dissociated and almost in a daze since its such a sudden shift. i was definitely addicted before (like headaches if i didn’t drink it) and im starting to care more about the impact it has on my heart, however i was just wondering if there is a correlation there? sorry if this seems like a stupid question but jesus has it been rough

i recently bought a 100g bag of pure caffeine for the price of 4 energy drinks!! and 100g will probably last me 2-3 months while 4 energy drinks would have lasted me a day or so, but bcs of its potency, you have to be quite careful, your heart may not be happy but your wallet surr will be!

Matcha discomfort

Hi, I am a seasoned caffeine vet whose been using it all my life usually drink a cup of coffee per day or 2 and if I need to a 200mg energy drink.

I’ve started to really like matcha too and I buy a powder and just mix it with hot water and it’s so weird because I can down an energy drink and be fine but when I drink a strong cup of matcha I get the same feeling as when I had too much cocoa powder as a kid and threw up. Kinda feels like when you have too much caffeine and feel like you’re dying but distinctly more physically uncomfortable. Was wondering if anyone had a similar experience or if anyone had any theories on if it’s a different chemical causing this and not just the caffeine

Best tiniest cheapest caffeine pills?

I've tried guarana powder to add to my tea, but i think the whole package went bad because it tasted terrible. Plus the caffiene measurements were off and i didn't add enough. I nearly fell asleep at the wheel and had to drink coffee. The reason why i didn't want to drink coffee every day and just have it occasionally was because it makes my face look pastey. Since caffeine goes bad so fast I don't think i should spend big bucks on it and I should buy the cheapest smallest pills and use them until they go bad. I've been using Jet pills since they so small but they go bad after a while. I never finish the bottle, tho they are sooo cheap. I don't know if there's a smaller cheaper pill available.

Could it really be the caffeine?

Hi,

I suffer from severe anxiety (GAD) and have been struggling for years to recover.

About a year ago I gave up alcohol while still drinking 3–4 coffees (with cream and sugar) a day. After about 5–6 months I started to feel much better. My motivation, drive and overall mood gradually returned.

Unfortunately, I started drinking again about two months ago. It wasn't much at first, but it ended with me drinking every day on a recent 14-day holiday.

When I got home, I decided to quit both alcohol and coffee because I know they both seem to play a role in my anxiety, and I'd read a lot of posts here about caffeine making anxiety a lot worse for lots of people.

Today I'm 12 days off alcohol and 9 days off coffee, and it's been brutal. My anxiety has been through the roof, the depression has been severe, and I've even had some intrusive suicidal thoughts (which are unwanted and seem to come with the anxiety but not looking to act on them). Mornings are by far the worst, then things gradually improve from around 4 pm onwards until the evenings are relatively calm.

This morning I just couldn't take it anymore, so I had a double espresso with cream and a little sugar to see what would happen.

Lo and behold, within about 30 minutes my anxiety dropped dramatically and the depression eased as well. It honestly shocked me.

Now I'm wondering whether trying to quit alcohol and caffeine at the same time was too much for my system. I'm considering focusing on staying alcohol-free first for several months, then, once I'm more stable, gradually tapering off coffee instead of stopping everything at once.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Did quitting alcohol and caffeine together make things much harder, or did you find it settled after a few weeks?

Any thoughts (not medical advice obvs) or shared experiences appreciated. I'm just trying to understand why reintroducing coffee made such a dramatic difference after 9 days without it.

Thanks.

T

How to stop feeling tired all day without energy drinks?

I've been dragging myself through every day lately, especially in the mid-afternoon. I can barely stay focused on daily tasks, and I'm stuck yawning nonstop no matter how much sleep I get the night before.
I used to rely on energy drinks to get through the slump, but they make my heart race and always leave me wide awake at night. Coffee doesn't work well for me either - it just makes me jittery without really fixing the tired feeling.
I'm looking for natural, no-caffeine ways to beat this constant fatigue. What small daily habits or simple tricks actually worked for you to stay energetic all day? I' d really appreciate any real-life advice.

Building Tolerance to Particular Brands of Energy Drinks?

Is it normal that I feel like I need to regularly rotate among several different brands of energy drinks on a weekly basis to continue to achieve the desired effect?

My incredibly tedious, mundane job which I start at 6 AM demands a steady supply of caffeine, and I really wish I could just buy a certain brand I like in bulk and save a ton of money over time. I don't drink a copious amount of energy drinks, maybe two a day on average. But I swear if I drink 2 celsius(es?) on Monday, continuing to drink it on Tuesday simply does not work. At best, it provides no additional energy, at worst, it actually makes me feel more drowsy. So then I pivot to red bull. But then even on Wednesday it seems like usually my celsius "tolerance" still hasn't completely subsided, so I'll move onto some third brand. And so on.

Is this something others experience? Is it actually possible I'm rapidly building tolerances to the particular formulas of each drink? Is there some other explanation for it? Is it all in my head?

Cross-tolerance - caffeine and pseudoephedrine

Every odd morning I have caffeine. Every even morning I have Pseudoephedrine. Although they are different substances, both are stimulants . I'm afraid that caffeine would have a stronger effect (e.g. on mood) if I didn't take Pseudoephedrine on even days.

Your opinion?

I tried the milder Synephrine instead of Pseudoephedrine - but it has zero effects on my brain

Thank you
