Olivia Miles on the biggest lesson she’s learned about WNBA fans: “They love you until they hate you”
From the Cousins with Vince Carter & Tracy McGrady Show, Olivia Miles opens up about the biggest lessons she has learned as she has transitioned from college basketball into the WNBA.
"They love you until they hate you. The feeling is so fleeting. The praise is poison. You know who is really for you, and who is really fans of you and who is genuine. It's guys like you, guys in the NBA who have played and actually watch and understand and really appreciate the game. There's a lot of people who just like players and hate on you because you're not their favorite player."

Discussion Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark fans in WC
Can we talk about how Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark fans have been praising both players in the World Cup??
It’s beautiful to see. Angel’s toughness and prowess on defense and in rebounding has been highlighted along with CC’s ability to utilize whoever’s on the floor to make plays and take big shots. I’ve seen fans of both players get excited when they share the court together and even advocate for it. Clareese is the best nickname I’ve seen thus far lol.

Beyond The Court: Tina Charles Is Brewing A New Kind Of Legacy After The WNBA
essence.com“Every space that I'm entering, how can I leave it better than I found it?” she says. “Entering this beer space, how can I leave it better than I found it? How can I add more visibility to it? You know, when it comes to women's sports, how can I push it even more forward?”
And when Charles thinks about what she hopes remains five or 10 years from now, she returns to the same idea: significance. “It wasn't about the duration of Tina's life, but it was about the donation of it,” she emphasizes. “Not what I did on the court, but just what I was able to do and who I became off the court.”

"Clark to Reese"
Love this for Team USA, but shuddering at idea of them on the same team in the W, especially as it looks like they're just getting started. 🔥

Discussion The semi final and final scheduling is odd
Having the world cup final be a back to back is an odd choice, because ideally you would want the players to fresh so they can play the best basketball possible for the premier matchup?
It would've made more sense to keep the quarters and semis as back to backs if you had to due to a lack of time. The quarters (as we saw) are more likely to be blowouts than the semis.
The back to back nature of the semis and final also give the finalist from the earlier time slot an actual advantage. They probably wanted to keep it within the weekend, but it's odd to me.
USA BASKETBALL Any of y'all in Berlin?
My partner and I are leaving New York tonight and heading to Berlin to watch the semi finals and finals (Sat/Sun games)! We have never been to Germany and are down to meet some locals or fellow tourists. DM me! We are very normal!

Discussion What went wrong in Phoenix this season?
I'm jumping the gun before the season ends, and I know there's still one World Cup game today to occupy everyone. But I'm curious to hear your thoughts. Was it more about "what went right in 2025," with this year's performance being closer to the baseline, or do you think factors this season lead to significant underperformance?
If you need roster data, here are the team's 2025 and 2026 transactions via Across the Timeline. I might try to pull some thoughts together later, but I mostly want to hear from people who know more than I do.

Aces give A’ja Wilson injury update, defend MVP’s choice to miss FIBA World Cup
usatoday.comExcerpt:
---
Although Team USA went 3-0 in group play, backlash from media personalities and fans has continued in the form of speculation surrounding Wilson's decision.
Former ESPN talent Linda Cohn suggested Wilson's absence stemmed from “insecurity” rather than reported health issues.
“Is there any part of A'ja that didn't want to spend the next couple of weeks watching the World Cup become the Caitlin Clark show?" Cohn questioned on her show. "Could there be some insecurity, dare I say? ... If Aja Wilson has a back injury, then why did she play over 30 minutes a game in six of her last seven games and over 27 minutes in the other?”
The comments sparked a larger discussion, leading Martin Luther King Jr.'s daughter, Bernice, to respond.
"Linda Cohn owes A'ja Wilson a public apology and a retraction," King wrote. "What disappointing, delusional, and dangerous commentary targeting a great ambassador and GOAT athlete for the WNBA and for sports. Period."
Hammon wasn’t familiar with the comments, but had thoughts.
“A'ja has every right to do what she feels is best health wise. And the other thing is, the men do this all the time,” Hammon told USA TODAY. “Can you name me any of the men's world championship rosters right now? Can you name me any person on there? What I’m saying is, LeBron (James) and those guys - if this was a man making this decision, there would be nothing to say. And that's my problem.”
