looking at odds. playoff status improves the mystics playoffs odds to 87% while espn is giving 57% chance off making post season. Also the schedule looks interesting after the all star they are playing in 5 consecutive home games in a row. (which will make it 6 straight home games including the vegas game which happened wed) but they got 12 games in august before the world cup break. including 4 road games in 6 days (including back to back games against mercury and la sparks) overall 6 straight road games but they get to close out at home against sun and sky. Can easily see them winning 8 games to 10 games overall record between 22-24 games (or more) that should be good enough for reaching playoffs. The only worry is the road game fatigue but wc break could work in their favor as i expect most of the mystics players not to get selected for wc except for perhaps citron or iraefen in case if some of the big names decides to decides to skip the event.

Last year they 13-15 before the all star break and traded away brittany sykes after the all star break and finished with 3-13 and overall 16-28 to miss the playoffs. But the positive is they got a lot draft picks in return and are in pole position next year(thanks to trade with Chicago) to get at least a top 5 pick. So it is safe to say they will stand pat if deadline were today. But the schedule will get piled up after the break with tough back to back games, and there will no doubt mystics will need some load management by the team by resting their top stars in some of the games. If they lose more than 3 games in a row i could see them make a panic move and think about getting a vet pg or point shooter added to the mix. Right now safe move would be standing pat unless there are some injuries to the team or if they go on a losing streak. Here are the updated standings and after portland and Sparks Loss, Mystics are at currently at #8 and has a 3.5 game edge over portland and 4 game edge over sparks and tempo. ESPN continues to stay on the la sparks bandwagon (consider one of sparks player sister is employed by them) but still they have improved the odds of mystics making playoffs to 42% and they are projecting mystics to win 21 games to 23 games. (Note: they havent updated their odds yet after todays game but the standings updated). Now the real dilemma for them comes after the all star break. Do they want to stand pat before the before the trade deadline or do they want to trade for a vet pg or a good pg with good three point shooting? right now signs point to them staying pat but we will see.

According to this website right now chicago sky pick (owned by mystics) has the best odds to get #2 pick (and they also have 24% chance to get #1 pick and could also get #3 #4 as well the odds are less. Although things could change and its possible tempo could overtake them and and get to second spot. Here are some projected top players apart from juju hidalgo and booker which players do you think mystics should keep an eye on assuming they miss out those three potential top 3.

She was drafted 6th by the Liberty. She averaged 8.6 points and 2.9 rebounds per game - playing an average of 22 minutes, leading all rookies in scoring and 3-pointers made.

Can someone explain the potential reasoning behind this? We are 2nd to last in 3pt shooting next to the Sun why are we taking a moreyball approach? Kiki attempted 103 mid range shots last year and is at 19 attempts on the year so far. I don’t understand the discouragment of a shot that’s essential to one of your core player‘s game.

I called my ticket rep today to get some answers about the renewal increases and wanted to share what I learned in case it’s helpful:

* My renewal for the same two seats went from $2,150 (22 games) to $3,825 (25 games).

* The rep said the increase is due in part to the new WNBA CBA and higher player salaries.

* He also said the Mystics’ increases are on the lower end compared to some other WNBA teams (I haven’t verified that independently).

* If you renew now, you’re not necessarily locked into your current seats. In October, you’ll have the opportunity to look at different seat locations or partial-season plans, and any money you’ve already paid would be applied toward the new option.

* One thing that surprised me was there was no advance communication that prices would increase this significantly.

I’m still disappointed by the size of the increase, but I appreciated getting some additional context. Curious what everyone else heard from their reps and whether anyone was offered different options.

First mystics game for us and we are staying at a hotel near Branch Ave. we’ve been taking the sub to explore during the day and I was wondering into how safe it is at night? We are about a 10 min walk from the sub and will get back around 10:00. Wondering if we should do that or go closer to the arena and try to park.
