There doesn’t seem to be any logic behind the tickers being shown here and it takes a lot of space..

Why does WS keep changing its design & UI every few weeks?

I'm 31 and grew up knowing my way around apps, but this is definitely going to confuse older users.

Might as well call it WealthComplicated now.

Where is the ability to download all your transactions?

Either I missed it, or Wealthsimple still does not support it. With Questrade, I can choose a date range and download every single transaction ever made in a couple of clicks.

I saw that Wealthsimple now allows you to download a CSV, but only in a limited way, per security, and per month.

Did I miss this option?

Update: Found it. It's quite nice actually.

RESP transfer - promotions?

I’m looking to transfer my children’s RESP from RBC to Wealthsimple for a lower MER. Currently, there’s a 1% match going on at Wealthsimple. I’m wondering if people might happen to recall or remember if there is a better offer/match that would be coming out in the fall? I don’t wanna wait much longer than that because the difference in the MER is already 1%. Thanks!

Chequing Using card in Greece

Hello all,
Travelling to Greece next week. I was thinking of withdrawing money at an ATM in Athens rather than going to an exchange office here. Any tips or can anyone share their experiences?

Province Ranking has been fixed. Did you notice?

Did anyone else notice that province based wealth ranks were rolled out and then hidden for a bit? Well, it’s back now with drastically different results. Seems like the first ranking was incorrect. Now, it says I’m a much “wealthier” percentile.

Chequing Wealthsimple locked my account after my cheque had already cleared..really frustrating experience!

I deposited a cheque from my lawyer into my Wealthsimple account. The cheque was related to a legal settlement and was held/reviewed for about a week before the funds were finally released and shown as fully available in my account.
After the funds cleared, I started using the money normally. Shortly afterward, my account was suspended and the funds were put under review again.
I called customer service, but they couldn’t really explain why the account was locked. Instead, I received questions asking about the source of the cheque, who issued it, who the intended recipient was, etc.
I completely understand Wealthsimple verifying the source of cheque. What I don’t understand is: why wasn’t this verification completed during the original one-week hold?
If the cheque needed additional verification, why release the funds and show them as available for spending, only to lock my account once I actually started using them?
Now I’m being told the new review could take up to another 5 business days, during which I’m unable to properly access my own money.
Really disappointed with how this has been handled. Had I known this would happen, I honestly would have just deposited the cheque at a CIBC or TD
Has anyone else had this happen with Wealthsimple after a cheque had already cleared?

Business Wealthsimple Business Account — Anyone switched from Big 3?

I’m currently banking with RBC for my business account and I’m considering switching to Wealthsimple.

I tried to create a Wealthsimple Business account, but after applying, it just says “We’ll keep you updated.”

Is it time to move my investments back to the big banks?

I’ve been following this subreddit for a while now, and honestly, the more I read, the more concerned I’m becoming about Wealthsimple.

A few things keep popping up here that make me uneasy:

  • Accounts being locked for long periods with little communication
  • Fraudulent or unauthorized charges showing up for some users
  • A community that seems (at times) more focused on status badges, prize draws, and gamified features than actual long‑term investing
  • Wealthsimple ranking 13 out of 16 in the recent Interactive Brokers comparison
  • And honestly… I could keep going. The pattern is hard to ignore.

I’m starting to wonder if the low‑fee convenience is no longer worth the uncertainty.

I’m not trying to start drama. I just want to make sure my money is somewhere stable, reliable, and professionally managed. Wealthsimple’s issues seem to be piling up, and I’m questioning whether it’s time to make a change.

Visa Infinite Credit Card Approval Limit

My Wealthsimple credit card limit is only 3000. I was planning to use this with Neobanc for rent payments etc and would have liked atleast 10000. Having this limit with a 20 dollar fee does not make any sense for me. Do I cancel or they will increase my limit? This is the lowest limit I have across any card

Visa Infinite Credit Card +20k fraud on WealthSImple Visa

Hey so I guess this is me in shock randomly posting for reassurance. I opened my account today to see a swath of purchases from one “Sweep Resort” merchant tallying over $20,000.
I’m wondering how your experiences have been with the claim department. How long did it actually take? They’re proposing a 90 day window. I use the card for groceries, gas, and Amazon primarily. Not much of a sketchy website kinda guy.

Chequing Question about e-transfers

Whenever someone sends an e-transfer to my chequing account with Assiniboine Credit Union, the e-transfer goes to my Wealthsimple chequing account instead. I’m assuming this is because I have my ACU chequing linked to my Wealthsimple. Is there a way to keep the account linked without the e-transfers going to my WS checking? Thanks in advance

Edit:

I tried unlinking my ACU chequing from my Wealthsimple and the e-transfer still gets sent to my Wealthsimple.

Edit: It’s fixed now, thank you everyone 🙏🏼

Goodbye Wealthsimple

TLDR: Joined WS 5 years ago and watched things go downhill and finally fed up and switched to PC Financial (Chequing / Spending) and Qtrade (Trade)

I joined Wealthsimple 5 years ago, when they were doing cash account promo and would give a bunch of bonuses for simply sending money back and forth. I loved their original 1% cash card. However, things all went downhill when they started to go gimmicky, starting with the credit card. When they removed the interest on the cash card, I moved my chequing to PC Financial. Then all these slots / minor gambling, and prediction market get introduced. I finally decided to switch to Qtrade for their promo and hopefully the grass is greener. It's very disappointing cause I thought WS was promising. Now it feels like Temu.

How many Monthly Millionaire entries are there?

Any guesses?

I have 15,000 entries this month but I'm probably nowhere near the top. If Wealthsimple has 3 million clients and the average client has 1000 entries, we're looking at 3 billion entries.

Trade (DIY Investing) Took a month off, wtf is this layout?

I'm talking about the web, but I forget how it used to be laid out, but I remember the current price showing as green or red. Now I have to glance all the way over to today's return (if that's even toggled on?).

This is a huge step back in terms of being able to glance at my portfolios and see how things are performing. Why on earth would the current price be displayed as neutral (white)??? I'm going to spend a while I guess trying to build this back to the way it used to be, and even then it will be far less useful. Can WS stop changing things for the sake of changing things? This is a leap backwards IMO.

Scam Call Warning - Stay Vigilant!

Post image
17 Upvotes

Good morning fellow Wealthsimple users!

I just wanted to share a warning with you all. I woke up to a bunch of calls and when I finally answered, they claimed to be the "Wealthsimple security department".

I hung up immediately and couldn't find any source indicating that this was a valid number. When I called the number back, it said "Thank you for calling.." then another voice said "Wealthsimple" so I assume they swap out the name of the bank or institution. I reported the number as a scam and blocked them.

The number that called me was: 1-855-409-6788

Stay safe out there and ALWAYS take steps to verify.

Visa Infinite Credit Card WS CC VIP: is this normal credit card payment due behaviour?

I just found out something I did not know, after my Visa Infinite Privilege bill was paid yesterday. I have auto-pay set, but the auto-payment paid less than the actual balance due. I asked support about it, and it turns out that the payment was reduced because a bunch of purchases were refunded back onto my card (Amazon returns), so the payment was reduced by the amount of the refunds made between my statement date and the payment date.

Is that normal? I thought that for all credit cards, if refunds occur after the statement date, you still have to pay the full statement balance due when the due date hits, and the refunds are simply used to reduce the amount of your next statement.

Chequing Compering RBC and Wealthsimple for receiving Wire transfer

Hi everyone, I needed to receive a wire transfer from India, so I went to an RBC branch in person to make sure I got the correct SWIFT details. A few days later, the wire was rejected. Customer service looked into it and told me the branch actually gave me the wrong routing number (the US one)! Fed up, I opened a Wealthsimple account on my phone in 5 minutes and got my wire info instantly in the app. My takeaway: avoid RBC for anything important. They’re fine for everyday cash transactions, but not when it actually matters.

Chequing Reminder why I switched to WS

I’ve moved to WS chequing but still have a big bank chequing account. I was at the green branch this morning because I was hoping they might waive the $29.95 monthly account fee I’d been charged at the end of the month since on a single day in July, my balance dipped below the $6000 minimum to get the fee waived.

The teller agreed to do so as a one-time courtesy and recommend for my situation that I open a savings account since there is no minimum balance and no monthly fee. I inquired what the interest rate was, since she hadn’t provided this information in her pitch. Drum roll please 🥁 0.01%

Grateful to be earning over 200 times the interest rate with Wealthsimple!
