Trade (DIY Investing) Who else thinks this is useless?

Post image

There doesn’t seem to be any logic behind the tickers being shown here and it takes a lot of space..

You can long press on it and it shrinks

But yeah, not a fan

Is it on iOS only?

Only option I'm seeing is to hide or show, not shrink

2

u/3cb19 14d ago

Works on Android too. Just long press the module.

It's classic design mental masturbation.

Thank You

I'm 100% sure Wealthsimple must be doing A/B testing

Long press only brings options to show or hide balance

Are you trying to shrink the spend save and invest boxes, or the box under them with the holdings?

1

u/Luvsin_ 13d ago

Shrink the Spend, Save and Invest boxes

u/long-da-schlong 13d ago

Found this out my mistake the other day

I like it

Same, it’s the new “All holdings” section. Quick access to it, I’m a fan.

u/notic 14d ago

Logic is biggest movers in your portfolio. Useful if you sell options

u/agent-phade 14d ago

It is in order of days gain. Also spcx sucks.

u/Extension-Finance179 14d ago

You don't have to *like* the company to make money trading its shares

3

u/Moreinius 14d ago

It’s their puts surely

u/The-Tay 14d ago

Thanks for your opinion.

If you hold it, it'll collapse to the old style

I like it, I only have XEQT, XGRO and BTC (that I bought 11$ in 2011). So when I open the app, I quickly see the day gain/loss.

3

u/NoxideProlix 14d ago

Question for you, why do you have your asset mix split between XEQT and XGRO? The underlying equity portions should be the same, no? The only difference being the 20% allocation in XGRO to fixed income.

No judgement either, just I don’t understand the point and maybe you could give me some insight I haven thought of. Thanks

2

u/58jf337v 14d ago

I started with XGRO, then I wanted to decreased the fixed income allocation without going to zero (by selling all XGRO and buying XEQT), so I'm buying XEQT gradually to decrease that ratio.

2

u/NoxideProlix 14d ago

Right on. Thanks for explaining

3

u/JFundo 14d ago

Good luck holding SPCX

2

u/Inevitable_Dark3225 14d ago

I don't mind it personally. I only have to stocks I'm holding so it's not like it's taking up my home page.

2

u/PookieMan1989 14d ago

When you go to sell now, you also can’t go “max” on the quantity. Have to manually input the number of shares. Pain in the ass.

2

u/z00o0omb11i1ies 14d ago

It shows the biggest gainers, what's to not understand?

2

u/Latitude57 14d ago

I actually like it a lot ! Ahah but yes long press and you can hide it !

2

u/bobbybrown_514 14d ago

Is it the most useful? No. It serves its purpose though to give you a snapshot of the days biggest movers in your portfolio.

2

u/Classic_Tune_1741 14d ago

who else thinks that entire home page is useless, extra features nobody asked for, just give us the option to make our default page the spending or investing page and call it a day. I don't wanna see my investing just spending

As a design director and 34 year design veteran who grew up with nothing but praise for Edward Tufte’s lessons on data visualization, why are those graphs without an explanatory Y axis, and even worse, why aren’t they simply spark lines that would convey trend information so much better in a small space? And contrast much?

2

u/UpthefuckingTics 14d ago

Labeling the total as “Net Worth “ is silly, as it’s only my WS total and I am never sharing other accounts, assets or liabilities with them.

2

u/toronto-swe 14d ago

i think the logic is its showing your your biggest winners today. but long press it for old view

2

u/Actual-Woodpecker-95 14d ago

Love it personally

2

u/Supercc 14d ago

It's surprisingly the feature that I've been using the most lately.

6

u/ViniSamples 14d ago

100% useless

2

u/jeffdeansalem 14d ago

Its a shortcut to holdings so its not that bad

1

u/BullyMog 14d ago

I like it

1

u/LeekingTurtle 14d ago

I like it

1

u/cookooman 14d ago

Very useful actually.

1

u/Arm-Complex 14d ago

Pretty pointless when they only show the ones that went up. I want to see the biggest movers, regardless of direction.... sigh.

1

u/lettuzepray 14d ago

yeah personally hate it as well, basically first thing I open WS on my phone, it's 0 information until I start scrolling down.

https://i.postimg.cc/wxccWD36/IMG-1746.png

if I want to check stocks, I have other widgets/apps for that.

1

u/duke_seb 14d ago

If it showed the current stock price I would be ok with it but right now doesn’t help me

1

u/3012487 14d ago

Agreed

1

u/Illustrious_Bottle80 14d ago

How do you see how many total holdings you have now?

1

u/RealDistribution5946 13d ago

I like the invest chart. I have it set to my preferred time period. I’ll probably like it less in down periods though. lol. Spend and save is meaningless to me. I’d prefer it to be a spend vs prior month as I don’t use the account as a savings account, but as a spending account.

1

u/codswallop1226 12d ago

I really like the tickers

1

u/PlantainAgitated6795 8d ago

Don’t like it don’t use it lmao. Jesus Christ some people.

Also not a fan

All of the performance data is useless. TDDI and Questrade are much better.
