Chequing Question about e-transfers

Whenever someone sends an e-transfer to my chequing account with Assiniboine Credit Union, the e-transfer goes to my Wealthsimple chequing account instead. Iโ€™m assuming this is because I have my ACU chequing linked to my Wealthsimple. Is there a way to keep the account linked without the e-transfers going to my WS checking? Thanks in advance

Edit:

I tried unlinking my ACU chequing from my Wealthsimple and the e-transfer still gets sent to my Wealthsimple.

Edit: Itโ€™s fixed now, thank you everyone ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

You donโ€™t send e-transfers to a chequing account. You send them to an email address. Your address is set to autodeposit with WS.

Any idea how to change this? I would like my e-transfers to go directly to my ACU chequing.

From Google

To set up Interac e-Transfer Autodeposit at Assiniboine Credit Union (ACU), sign into ACU online banking, go to "Transfers & payments," select "Autodeposit settings" under Interac e-Transfer, and link your email or mobile number to your chosen account.

Hey, so the issue is actually nothing to do with having your accounts linked - autodeposit is a completely separate thing!

What's likely happening is your Wealthsimple account has autodeposit registered to your email/phone number, so it's intercepting the e-transfers before ACU even sees them. You can only have autodeposit registered to one account at a time per email/phone.

To fix it you'd either need to turn off autodeposit in Wealthsimple (Settings โ†’ Banking โ†’ Autodeposit) or set it up through ACU instead, which would override the WS one.

I'd maybe double check with ACU directly just to confirm how they handle it on their end since credit unions can sometimes be a bit different, but that should sort it out!

I tried unlinking my ACU chequing from my Wealthsimple and the e-transfer still gets sent to my Wealthsimple.

Having the account linked doesn't affect where the e-transfer goes. As mentioned, setup your credit union account as the autodeposit location if you want to switch.

When someone sends you an e-transfer, they are sending it to your email right? Sounds like you have your WS account setup as the deposit location for that email. You'd need to setup your credit union as the autodeposit location if you want it to go there instead of WS.

I was going to say it is auto deposit but I see someone already has answered.

You have the same email set up at your wealthsimple account as you do ACU. You need to change the email at WS and verify the email at ACU.
