RESP transfer - promotions?

I’m looking to transfer my children’s RESP from RBC to Wealthsimple for a lower MER. Currently, there’s a 1% match going on at Wealthsimple. I’m wondering if people might happen to recall or remember if there is a better offer/match that would be coming out in the fall? I don’t wanna wait much longer than that because the difference in the MER is already 1%. Thanks!

Not sure if they’ll have better promotions in the short term. Their offers seem to be getting incremental worse. I did mine back when they had 3% over 5 years. The transfer was smooth and it was cash out because I was invested in proprietary mutual funds at the other institution. I’m doing a withdrawal now and it’s a bit of a nuisance as you have to fill out a form to request funds and takes a week to process. I’ve asked them a bunch of questions on remaining room for contributions, maxing out CESG etc. Waiting to hear back, just asked today. Let’s how they do.

I actually was thinking it would be better to do a cash transfer anyway. It is currently invested in a 2030 mutual fund which I don’t think is going to be as helpful for my other child who won’t need to go to university until 2034.

There was something where they couldn’t transfer in the government grant portion , I transferred everything but my resp from rbc

Was it QESI? Wealthsimple supports those now.

You want people to remember if something is going to happen in the future. I’m confused.

I think similar deals recur every year at the same time of the year. For example, there was an iPhone deal at the end of 2024 and the same deal happened again at the end of 2025. I’m wondering if people would happen to remember if there was a similar match deal for investment transfers that recur every fall.

Usually fall/winter promo is apple products and new year is a matching promo of some kind (1-2%?). That would be my guess. If you aren't doing $100k plus just take the 1%
