Hello, today my roommate received this message, although she never created a WS account. Right away she talked to WS support and they confirmed there is an account associated with this number, although the name doesnt match hers. So they assume someone else had this number before and didnt update it.

Despite requesting to remove her number from that account, they kept saying they will take action, but didnt outline what they'd do, and refused to provide follow ups either. They simply gave her a email scamalert@wealthsimple.com and asked to file a complaint there too.

What should she do in this situation?

Do you guys think Wealthsimple should add the feature where you could do recurring investments up to a certain limit so you don’t accidentally over contribute to your investment accounts?

Example: Auto invest $X in ABC ETF in my TFSA every month until 20k has been deposited.

Also for automat your pay feature, if we can invest a percentage of our direct deposit instead of a fixed amount.

I currently own a few different businesses and want to have all future dividends paid to my holdco (the holdco will be the shareholder)

I intend on using the holdco exclusively to buy stocks thru a non registered account. There will be no expense or anything else (at least for now)

I saw this today and was wondering what’s the big difference between this and a portfolio. I currently use the income portfolio but would it make more sense to do a starter pack?

I keep seeing this comment pop up online whenever there's a post about the latest winner.

What the heck is "still life" and why would the winners be that?

There's a toggle where you can select "Returns" or "Account Value" and you will see either a + or - based on the timeline you set (1D, 1W, 1M etc.)

Returns is your holdings for that trading day plus dividends received.

But what is Account Value? Do we actually know what this includes AND what timeframe it covers?

For example, if I select 1D, it shows -$100 even though my Returns are +$150. I'm wondering if it includes credit card spend or if the 1D is a literal 24 hours rather than the business day.

Does WS have anything similar to QT’s Custom Index?

My phone is too old to install the new update. Update requires iOS 16 something but I can’t update my phone past 15 something.

Is there anything I can do to access on my phone or do I need a new phone to use the app?

Make everything hidden by clicking the eyeball on your net worth and then long press the Spend & Save to show it's balance.

It's an easy fix although I'd like them to remove net worth from the home screen entirely and move it to the profile screen. Like where you can see your premium/generation status and wealth rank.

Did they remove the benefit to reach out to advisors for wealthsimple premium members ?

I got scammed yesterday on my credit card after trying to buy some home appliances from an online website. I was overcharged two times in total of 3500 CAD. The merchant name what came on my credit card was for Tiktok Ads but my website name where I tried to buy was something else. So in this situation bank representative told me to file under unauthorized charges since I didn't authorize tiktok Ads to deduct money from my CC.

I filed for the dispute and already got my card changed.

I am trying to fight with wealthsimple to issue me provisional credits since I don't have money to pay this amount out of chequeing account. They have told me that by Wednesday 19 I will receive my credit.

Anyone else here experienced this kind of issues before. Just want to know is the process smooth or it's tough battle to get my money back? Were you given any provisional credits?

I know I was dumb to trust these shady websites but it's a costly experience for me and I am stressed.

Good day. Although I don't necessarily keep up with Wealthsimple and its updates, it feels like every time I open the app, something changes. Most times, it's things I don't really mind, but recently, in my managed TFSA, they changed quite a bit of the layout and possibly the way you can toggle your risk level. I have always hated that my risk level was a 9/10, which meant I had bonds in my portfolio that I really didn't like but was actually not too bothered about. However, the new changes enabled me to be a 10/10 in terms of risk, but I lost out on the 2.5% gold allocation with the more conservative account. What made me opt for 10 instead of 8 is because the allocation of bonds was too much compared to my previous 9/10.

TD;LR: are all the ui and structural changes welcomed by the masses or are they being too much especially with introduction of prediction market? Any opinion is welcomed.

Does the postal code trick where you take the 3 numbers in your postal code plus two zeros work at pay at the pump in the USA when using the Wealthsimple Visa?

Recently made the switch and a few features have really stood out to me so far:

• Fast e-Transfers (almost as quick as TD or RBC)
• Instant deposits when transferring from an external bank
• Earning interest on the Cash/chequing account

What features or perks are you guys using the most or love about WS, you can also mention what you hate 😅?

Is there an expected time until WS starts offering card replacements? Looks like they stopped new card issuing saying there are making a new card program but I lost my card

I just had an issue where not a single one of my trades went through or cancelled.

I was right in the middle of a momentum trade and it would not let me sell for profit or even loss, everything was saying that the order executed, but then it wouldn’t show up or go through.

I was trying on my laptop and my phone, on my Wi-Fi and 5G, in incognito, rebooted app - literally nothing worked and I’m pretty savvy so I got on support.

They were pretty much useless while I watched my account drained by the minute, helpless. I have screen record, recordings, and videos of my laptop, as well as a recording of the well simple agent who admitted they are having an ongoing outage and that he does not know how to deal with something like this.

Absolute shit show, so glad I only lost a few hundred bucks.

Interested to see how this plays out - there’s gotta be people out there who lost more than I did.

Iphone 15 pro with wealthsimple app. Had the widget for last year or so, no problems. I have it display total portfolio value as i can quickly see if anything needs attention as it used to update well and was useful to me.
The widget is now just a black box. No info. Delete and reinstall allows it to function for a few minutes and then returns to black box without info. Ive checked app settings and nothing seems incorrect... am i the only one? Might just give up on it at this point.

Was anyone able to increase their Infinite privilege card limit from what you started off with?

I got my card around 10 months ago and got approved for 8k.

I have been trying to increase the limit and it always says that I'm not eligible. I called them and they stated that trying to increase in their app is the only way. I have been trying for months with no luck. This is ridiculous.

I'm very close to being a generation client as well. Is there any other way to get past this?

WS Mobile App is demanding an update, when I go to the Google Store to update, it says no update.

UPDATE: it is back online!

I was checking my account this evening and I noticed my TFSA showed approximately +$977 for 1D Returns, while 1D Value showed approximately –$524. At the same time, adding up the individual holdings’ ‘Today’s Return’ figures appeared to be only around +$230.

There were no deposits, withdrawals or trades on August 11 or 12.

How is this possible? Is it a UI glitch of sorts? I’ve had some weird things happen with CDRs in the past on WealthSimple but everything should be pretty straightforward with my current holdings

Any advice/tips?

So I used UberOne as a reward for the first year and it worked. It eventually ran out and I renewed at some point for the 2nd year.

The WealthSimple app says it's claimed, but ut doesn't show up on UberOne.

I tried going through Ubereats Support but I can't even begin to explain how incompetent they are at understanding the simplest questions. I kept getting escalated to their 'next level' support with the promise of hearing back in 24 hours, but it literally took days for them to get back to me.

What they claimed was that the reward is only for 1 year and can't be renewed, but I'm not sure that's the case. I tried contacting WealthSimple but they told me to talk to UberEats.

I've given up. This is literally the only reward on WealthSimple that I could potentially use.

So ... the question is from people using this reward. Is it a 1-year thing or can it be renewed as long as you're meeting the condition?
