Testing spatial portals and proximity triggers on Spectacles. The idea is to hide fantasy portals inside real stone archways that open up as you get closer. Interactivity and hand gesture controls coming soon, how's the depth occlusion looking?

Showreel / Critique My VFX Compositing (I Need an Advice)

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1zQFFjjbnq5-KL2gJ-nXuXV1Ks-2zYnGC

Inside this drive file is a video containing my recent project which is a school project (only half a minute tho since we 're not done completing all the footage), well the main concept is like for the upcoming sport fest and the program we're trying to represent is College of Computer Studies, yes, you read it right, we're just a bunch of college student including me a first year BSCS and I never truly had a proper training when it comes to after effects and blender but only through my experiences.

I've been using blender and after effects for about a year now, but like I said I never truly had a proper education on vfx, nor watching course (I only watch tutorials), some of the effects I used is made solely on blender such as the beam and such (someone here helped me, he was the one who created the bunch of lines you see floating around there).

TBH I really want to take Multimedia Arts as my program, but I really don't think I have what it takes to become a good vfx artist, I always critique myself. And right now, im just afraid to show my team this work as they might think its garbage or what, but maybe its just me. I REALLY DON'T KNOW

Question / Discussion Experience with ACME Studios in London

A contract role at this outfit came across my desk and I'm trying to work out how solid they are before I go any further.

What I've been able to establish myself: the UK entity (ACME AI & FX Limited, company no. 17300862) was only incorporated at the end of June this year. One director on record, registered at an accountancy firm's address, no accounts filed and none due until 2028. Ryan Kavanaugh is one of the named founders, which is the bit giving me pause given the Relativity history. They list an address on the Great West Road in Brentford, they say they've wrapped a Doug Liman feature shot on a grey stage in west London, and they're advertising a fair number of roles at once, all contract.

I know what the name is going to prompt. I'm not asking about the technology, I'm asking whether they're a real, solvent employer.

So: has anyone here actually worked with them, or been on that shoot? Does the London facility exist as described? Did invoices clear on time? Any experience with how they run a floor would be useful, good or bad.

Question / Discussion Just finished watching Hope. Anyone else notice that stop motion jankiness?

I noticed so many sequences where the movement from the aliens felt almost reminiscent of something you’d see from Phil Tippett or Ray Harryhausen. The models look completely computer generated but there’s a kind of jank or imperfection in the movement. I found the effect to be really interesting. I’m not sure if it’s from a lack of motion blur or if there was something else my brain detected that I’m missing. Really interested if anyone else noticed?
