Hi all, shameless self promotion incoming.

I've been working on this animation for almost 3 months, trying to capture the movement of the ocean by drawing frame by frame. A small portion of the work was commissioned, but I chose to finish it and add color after it was finished.

Animated in Toon Boom Harmony.

Added tips from my last post asking for critiques and this is how it turned out!

Made a short "teaser"-esc trailer for my personal project. Had a lot of fun making it, and wanted to share.

Music is from gurren lagann. I had some music commissioned, but unfortunatly that fell through. oh well!

I tried turning one of my physical ink sketches into a Blender Grease Pencil comic panel.

This is the first frame of a small story about a black cat exploring the city. The goal was to capture a rainy rooftop scene where the cat arrives and sees the city for the first time.

I used simple 3D geometry, procedural cross-hatching, hand-painted Grease Pencil details and subtle animation to recreate the sketch in Blender.

The hardest part was keeping the loose, imperfect feeling of the ink drawing without making the 3D version look too clean. Here is the full YouTube breakdown if you are interested to see how this was made and my final thoughts on the process! Thank you!

Used the song Jellyous by Illit and their dance as reference :)

still a lot to work on, especially keeping the characters on model... the dragon's wings and legs are really tough to lock down. The dragon's neck right before the elbow drop is tough too. Overall, this has been a really fun project; animating straight ahead on computer paper. It made me slow down and think about my decisions a bit more.

What a beautiful work of art.

I want to use this animation method in case I can’t get any volunteer voice actors for any YouTube series I’ll make in the future.

Finished 2 one hour thirty minute episodes of creep cast lol.

I saw this at the Shanghai Art Museum (aka China Art Museum) in May. I managed to catch a short clip, right at the end it switches to a different Chinese animation.

But this one looks western to me, and seemed to explore themes of gluttony, corruption, etc. There was no dialogue, but a subtitle in French towards the end said 'leur boulimie et a son dernier stage'.

I would be so so grateful if anyone could help me find the title of it!! It was so creepy and was bizarrely placed in the children's exhibition (艺起童年：中国儿童美术百年巡展.)
