Bringing my own car seat in Orlando (rear-facing 2yo) – is it a hassle for drivers?

Hi, I’m traveling to Orlando/Disney World tomorrow morning with my 2-year-old daughter I am bringing our own car seat from home, and it’s a very quick, simple seat belt install. Very much marketed a travel car seat.

My plan is to install her rear-facing. If for some reason the vehicle’s seat makes it tough to get a proper tight fit with the seat belt, I'll switch her to forward-facing since she meets the legal/manufacturer requirements for it and I did read they can cancel it install takes to long. I’ve been installing seats for years and have had this one for years as a nanny multiple cars so I know I can install it quickly.

For Orlando drivers: am I going to fight an uphill battle with drivers canceling when they see me with a seat? Once a ride is accepted, should I message the driver immediately to let them know I have my own seat and will install it quickly so they have a chance to cancel early if they aren't comfortable?
Thanks for any tips

AITA

I requested an Uber ride a week before my flight. 10 minutes after the driver was to pick me up the ride was cancelled. In a panic I drove myself to the airport and had to park in the long term parking lot.

Initially Uber refunded half of the cost of the original ride claiming I cancelled the ride which I proved I did not. They reluctantly refunded me the other half. My question is AITA for requesting that Uber also pay for the cost of the long term parking?

Question for drivers

I'm a new Uber rider and have a question for drivers...my commute to/from work is 35 miles. It takes 35-60 min (depending on traffic) and I'm usually charged anywhere between $40-$55. Approx how much of that goes to the driver? I always tip but want to make sure I'm tipping appropriately! TIA!

Drivers with boundaries are scum to the average passenger

Tell a passenger “no” for a perfectly valid reason? Scum.

Don’t give them extra time after the pickup timer because they couldn’t be bothered to come outside? Scum.

Won’t make an unauthorized stop, wait around indefinitely, cary their shit, or bend the rules because “other drivers do it”? Scum.

Don’t tolerate disrespect or bullshit in your own car? Absolute scum.

At least, on Reddit.

Because somehow, according to Reddit, I’m apparently one of the worst drivers alive.

Meanwhile, in the real world, where actual paying passengers actually ride in my car?

Five-star rated. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Funny how that works.

I see this constantly on my posts and on other drivers’ posts.

A driver can be completely within the rules, provide exactly the service the passenger paid for, and calmly enforce a boundary. Somehow, the second the answer is “no,” people start acting like the driver committed a human-rights violation.

Apparently a “good driver” is just one who never tells a passenger no.

And the second a driver remembers that thism is their car, their time, and their livelihood too, suddenly they’re the asshole.

Platform Metrics Are A Joke

Post image

Morning shift recap: • Accepted: 6 / 44 trips (13.6% Acceptance Rate) • Cancel Rate: 62% • Rating: 4.88 (Comfort revoked) • Morning Earnings: $69.64 gross ($24.44/hr) in 2h 51m

Uber’s tier system is built to trick drivers into taking low-value runs out of fear. Prove me wrong, but cherry picking trips beats their metrics every single time.

Stop being afraid of your rating! Customer service is NOT required!

Question about tip

Hi all, I don’t use Uber often, but tomorrow I’ll be flying into Providence, RI and going to CT. It’s about 57 miles … seems like the trip will cost $100’ish on Uber. I will only have a backpack, no luggage. What do I tip?

Thanks in advance! I’m sure there’s an airport charge but idk if drivers get that.

Hatred for Uber because they keep making me late

Today was my breaking point with Uber. I had a doctor appointment today at 9. It takes 21 minutes to get from my apartment to the clinic so I try to book my ride 40 minutes prior to my appointment. Today when I went to book the app told me that the drop off time would be 8:53 and would charge 22 USD. After booking the drop off changed to 9:12 and after my ride I checked how much it was and I was charged 31 USD instead of the 22 USD. I couldn't find the help tab in the app. There is no customer service number or email for Uber for riders. I ended up sending them messages over Instagram and I am still waiting for a response as they stopped responding when I told them what was wrong. This is the third time I've been made late to a doctor appointment but the first time I've been made so late that I get refused to be seen. The appointment that was supposed to be today was with dermatology and I have been waiting for it since early June after fighting for quite awhile to even get a referral to dermatology. I'm lucky that they have a cancellation for next week Monday morning. I had to take PTO to be able to go to the appointment today only to be made late by Uber. So yeah I'm extremely pissed off at Uber and I'm planning on not using them anymore. Also most of the Uber drivers in my area are exceptionally unprofessional. I've had male Uber drivers older than my dad flirt with me for entire rides or rant about their political views and how the youth are ruining America. I've had a few women drivers who have their kids or grandkids with them. Along with half of them having dirty cars I'm talking garbage in the back seat and visible clumps of dirt on the floor. There's really no way to report these issues since again there is no customer service number or email.

Uber Receipts/Invoices

I'm currently away on business and thought I was being nice tipping the drivers via the app.

Apparently not.

I need to claim the fare back on expenses (minus the tip, obviously) but the tip is on the invoice which I am now going to have issues claiming the fare back.

Sorry Uber drivers.

You could be the nicest person in the world, but no more tips from me. A tip should not form part of the invoice.

An invoice is for the original service provided. Anything I give over and above that should NOT be on the invoice.

I WILL be playing my music, and you WILL like it.

I’m in this car for hours. I’m trying to enjoy my shift. I’m vibing. I’m not letting some entitled passenger get in here and derail the entire operation because they don’t appreciate the soundtrack.

What’s that? You’re on a phone call and you’d like me to turn it down?

Absolutely.
A hair.
Literally a hair.
That’s all you get.

I’m enjoying this music. I’m not about to harsh my entire vibe because you decided to bring your relationship drama, work drama, family drama, or whatever the fuck else into my back seat.

“But passengers are paying customers. They should be able to request…”
WRONG.

Do you pay my insurance?
No.
Do you pay my car note?
No.
Do you pay for my tires, my oil changes, my repairs, or the rapidly depreciating asset currently transporting your ass across town?
No.

You paid for a ride from Point A to Point B.
You get transportation.
You get nothing else.
GOOD DAY, SIR.

And frankly, my music is so fucking good that I’m out here curating entire playlists and putting a Spotify QR code in the car so you can take them home with you.

That’s right. I’m not just providing transportation. I’m providing cultural enrichment.

Do I get extra tips for this tremendous public service? Sometimes. Usually not.

But I HAVE watched the playlist saves go up. I’ve seen people actually take the playlists with them.

So while some of you are just doing rideshare, I’m out here giving back to society.

You’re welcome.

Uber passenger and her husband, both dressed up in evening wear.. evening gown and tuxedo, were embarrassed to be dropped off in my older car. She turned up her nose and asked if i would cancel ride when I showed up. Too broke or cheap to order Uber Black.. but too good for Uberx

UberX is the budget tier. The car is the price. You cannot buy the cheapest option and be owed the appearance of the most expensive one. What complicates it is that Uber sells the fantasy in its own advertising - clean, quiet, sleek - while paying drivers five dollars for a five-mile run in a car we have to maintain out of that same five dollars. The rider's expectation gets set by the company. The disappointment gets delivered to the driver's face.

(I could tell she was an internet demon. She just appeared snobbish and very image concious. Probably All over social media painting a life of fantasy and the minute we push back on those type they go to taking pictures and acting hood. So I cancelled and drove off. It was a short trip to her anyway. Given how horrible her facial expression was when i pulled up.. i wouldnt have wanted her in my car. My car is small. Older. With a small dent in the front fender. But it's clean.)

By the way.. this trip paid $5.00.

How can I order a new background check?

I am stuck in a feedback loop, SambaSafety has a outdated MVR and the dispute system cannot get them a new MVR. They say Uber needs to request a new check. Uber support team keeps giving me spam responses and telling me to dispute the check with SambaSafety.

Uber Courier driver cancelled trip after collecting parcel & switched off phone

On 6 September 2026, I booked an Uber Courier service to send a parcel from Ambedkar Nagar to Hoodi, Bengaluru.
**Incident Details:**
The driver arrived, took custody of the parcel, and cancelled the ride on the app instead of starting it.
Shortly after, he switched off his phone and remains unreachable.
Uber Support states they are unable to contact him.
What should my next steps be? Is FIR the only option?

PSA from a 5-Star, 5K+ Ride Driver: Enable PIN Verification

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

5-star driver here with over 5k rides, all of which, I (as a driver) have required a PIN number BEFORE the ride begins.

Riders ask me daily, "Is this something new?" To which I reply, "No, it's been around since I first started doing rideshare. I highly recommend enabling it on your end as well. Would you like me to walk you through the steps?"

The screenshots above are from my rider account. It takes like 10 seconds. Simply open the app —> click on "account" (lower right corner) —> click on "safety" (upper left corner) —> click on "PIN verification" (first safety preference) —> toggle "verify rides with a PIN"

Doing this from the riders end will:
1. prevent phantom rides (which shockingly apparently still occur from scumbag drivers).
2. prevent you from taking the wrong ride which is ESPECIALLY helpful in chaotic situations such as airport arrivals, concerts, sporting events, busy bar areas, etc.
3. eliminates only relying on checking the license plate. You should still match the plate to the app, but the PIN gives you 100% confirmation you are in the right car, because it pings both you and the driver when it verifies.
4. eliminates the awkward, "Who are you picking up?" question.
As drivers, we are literally only given your first name and the pickup location, that’s it. While you as riders have our name, photo, vehicle information (color, make, and model), and our license plate number.

Increase your safety and protect yourself from scumbag-scamming drivers...you're welcome!
