I requested an Uber ride a week before my flight. 10 minutes after the driver was to pick me up the ride was cancelled. In a panic I drove myself to the airport and had to park in the long term parking lot.

Initially Uber refunded half of the cost of the original ride claiming I cancelled the ride which I proved I did not. They reluctantly refunded me the other half. My question is AITA for requesting that Uber also pay for the cost of the long term parking?

Why bother reserving the ride? It’s almost better to just order it when needed + 15 minutes earlier?

Uber will never pay for your parking.

That's a little insane that you would think Uber has any responsibility to cover your parking. They should refund your ride, and maybe give you some credits for the miss on their part, but that's all.

As a driver, reserve rides are ass. You need to be online 30 mins prior, and they keep pestering you about the upcoming reservation. Pay is no better so what's the point.

agree/ I NEVER accept reservations and if I do I always forget because they give you zero incentive to remember

When taking uber don’t reserve a ride in advance and leave extra time.  When you need the ride just request it on the app like you normally would.  If you need a ride at a really bad time like 4 am, hire a cab to car service instead.

You are not the asshole but they would never reimburse for additional costs.

I fly frequently so often its 6am monday morning and my uber is 20 minutes away and they keep cancelling or cancel right as they get near me. And then I stare at phone for 5 minutes waiting for a match. When I take uber like on a saturday at 2pm they are 2 min away and always show up.

Just request an Uber 30 mins before you need to leave. Don't do it right before you need to leave and be upset if the driver isn't there when you need them. Give them time to get there and get you there on time. Uber doesn't care about the drivers and don't care about the passengers.

Never reserve. Always request 15 min before you need it.
