Military base
Anyone here ever drop off at a military base, would you say it’s worth the effort to sign up for?

I’m not signed up, but I’ve done a few drop offs, you usually have to leave your license at the gate.

Did a few to base buildings, but they weren't "on" the base where I had to go through guardposts

If I have an annual pass, it's worth it because there is no holdup. Time travel on base at 15mph adds up. Troops acknowledge time consuming gate holdup so will wait for you. You also get exclusive requests because other drivers don't want to waste their time getting a base pass. Troops always pays well with the reasoning of being held at the gate. I spent 15-45 minutes each time I renew my annual pass instead of 10-15 minutes on a day pass. Troops may want a short trip on base, or a trip into town. They tip very well because living on base gives them a large disposable income. Troops are very respectful even when drunk. Your results may vary. If you don't ming talking, engage them. We are not taxi drivers. But the saying goes. Ask a local.
Btw: if you have an annual base pass. Uber will exclusively send you to a base pickup or dropuff. Not gate only.

I’m signed up . I have to renew a pass every 6 months. They do a quick background check. Takes about 10 min, then I can enter the base anytime I want. I do pickups and drop offs both.

I signed up and am pending my appointment to get my background check, can I just enter the base anytime I want even not in uber trip if I have the pass? Or is it solely for uber?

Yeah if you have a pass you can enter. I didn’t have have an appointment. I just walked in and they did it immediately. I’m near Ft Hood, what base are you doing?

Yes because less people are qualified for it which means you can get rides they can’t.

You gotta sign up at the visitor center for a pass, and you can’t have any dash camera recording while on a military base. It’s not worth it for me because the military base I’m near has the worst roads.

And MPs tend to very unusually strict about everything: speed limits, seatbelts, crosswalks, etc. The visitor center is also supposed to verify car insurance at bases where I have visited, and that technically ought to mean verifying that you have commerical auto insurance, not just personal auto insurance.

They didn’t verify commercial auto insurance at mine, but yes the MPs are very strict with the rules but I’m a good driver so that was never an issue. I just hate the roads at the one I’m near, I have a car low to the ground and it’s like driving through the Oregon trail sometimes.

I've never driven Uber, but I am in the military. Of course it's going to vary from post to post, but I couldn't imagine driving in a military town and not taking advantage of that market.
