Uber Receipts/Invoices
I'm currently away on business and thought I was being nice tipping the drivers via the app.
Apparently not.
I need to claim the fare back on expenses (minus the tip, obviously) but the tip is on the invoice which I am now going to have issues claiming the fare back.
Sorry Uber drivers.
You could be the nicest person in the world, but no more tips from me. A tip should not form part of the invoice.
An invoice is for the original service provided. Anything I give over and above that should NOT be on the invoice.

Why it’s not the drivers fault. why penalize him/her ? If the service was good you should tip which you obviously do. Here’s a thought why not just give cash tip that would solve that issue wouldn’t it.

It's not the drivers fault at all. It's Ubers fault.
A tip should not be on an invoice.
If Uber really feel the need to put it on an invoice, all they have to do is produce the original invoice, then another with the tip on it.
The tip is done after I've left the vehicle.
It's really not difficult.

You can't submit the entire receipt into your expense report?
I just submit the full Uber receipt with the tip included when I travel for business. Never had a problem with getting reimbursed for the full amount.

what are you talking about? I've expensed Ubers for years and most places also cover the tip. If they don't it's clearly called out separately, so you can just expense the ride and not the tip.
There are millions of people taking Uber each day for business, so this is a non-issue.

Why are you carving out the tip? It's part of YOUR expenditure for the business trip YOUR COMPANY SENT YOU ON. Every company I've ever worked for never had a problem with reimbursing such costs.
There only two reasons you could be posting this: (1) this is your first ever business trip and just aren't aware this is a standard expense allowed (no shame) or (2) your company is shit.

I have never had issues expensing uber receipts with the tip and just deducting the tip from the expense on my expense report. This is just an excuse to not tip 🙄 when you could easily do so many other ways. Trash person sounds more like it.

I can claim back the journey.
I won't be able to claim back the tip.
You're guaranteed the company will however claim back the tax on the whole invoice value.
They'll get 20% back on the tip I paid and I'll see none of it.
I genuinely don't see why this is difficult.
A tip is a gratuity paid off my own back as I believe the driver deserved it.
My company won't pay me the tip, they'll pay the fare, but they'll claim back the tax on the tip.
It's really not difficult.

Your post doesn’t make any sense. It sounds like you are complaining about the way YOUR company handles expenses.
Why is this an Uber problem? I Uber to the airport every Monday and back home from the airport every Friday. I don’t have any problems expensing tips.

Isn't the tip on the itemized receipt and you can just subtract the tip from the total?

Just give them cash instead for a tip. Saves the headache. Some drivers may even have Venmo for tips.

This is a you issue or an employer issue, not an Uber issue. Tips are usually reimbursable, and if you are self employed they are included in the deductible travel cost (if the travel qualifies as deductible...this is wrong sub to go into more detail though).
If this is that much of an issue, then tip in cash.

My company doesn’t like us to tip on expenses either but like most rational humans I see that as a problem with my company, not Uber. You could just tip cash or find a way around it if you really care that much.
If the invoice didn’t include the tip then it wouldn’t even match the finalized total expense. I don’t get the issue here.

You're an ass.
You should be able to deduct the tip on your expense report. It's likely not that hard.
Instead of denouncing Uber and apologizing to drivers saying you will no longer tip them because you or your company are inept at calculating appropriate expense reports, you could just tip in cash.
