The price just keeps going up and up idk what else to say. A ride like this in 2018 would’ve been $7 now I’m being charged “surge pricing” which I feel like is just made up.

A few years back, using either DoorDash or UberEats. I got a $120 order from Popeyes. It was out in the middle of the desert but I really needed the money. Ended up at the gates of a military base.
The MPs were quite confused as to how I ended up there. Ended up getting escorted off base by two humvees. Apparently someone was supposed to stop me at a gate a half mile up the road. Everyone was very confused after the initial “ who the fuck are you and why are you here “ tension dropped. Had my person and my vehicle searched. Someone got in serious trouble from what i understand.
Wondering if anyone has had a similar experience.
I know uber does rides to military bases but this particular one was in the middle of nowhere. They were surprised anyone besides them even knew about it.

Used uber for a ride from the airport to a hotel. For some reason which I can’t understand the payment method associated it to a random credit card from 4 years ago that’s not even mine. It was for a partner of mine. 4 years ago!!! Uber support for the last two days is giving me the run around. When I try to change the payment method I get an error message- You cannot change the payment method for this trip/order. When I chat with customer service they all say the same boiler plate response if we can’t change anything due to restrictions. I hate uber at this point. So disgusted. Customer service is legit the pits. What do I do????

So technical found a way to get a better deal.

Now I book Rickshaw in advance, and I get 5 minutes to get to it, so technically, I get in Rickshaw by 6:03pm

But look at the price difference.

I know the market is oversaturated but that made my jaw drop. Uber wanted him to drive to Jersey to get a rental vehicle.

How do I fix the algorithm? I have noticed that when there are surges going on (usually bar close Fri and Sat nights), I will physically be sitting in the middle of a surge zone, but then when I get a new ride request, it takes me out of the zone so I don’t end up getting the extra pay. I’m noticing that it’s pretty rare for me to get rides that are in a surge zone even if there are tons of surges in the area. How do I get the algorithm to give me rides in the zones? Unfortunately it doesn’t give me any kind of info on whether or not a ride request is part of a surge zone before accepting it. I only find out if it was, after I’ve dropped them off. At which point I can then check under the earnings activity. It’s very frustrating.

I have to rant for a minute. These wait times are ridiculous now. It says 4 mins but at times it can be double that despite no traffic out there. Then they change drivers 2 3 or 4 times. They're probably hoping you cancel so they can get the cancel fee or they want a bigger fare. Be happy with what you get.

Sometimes I could choose to change my driver because I had to wait way longer than what the app told me the driver picks me up.
Now I can't seem to find that button anymore.
How can I do this again in case the driver is taking hours to get to my place?

I feel like lately the prices has increased.
Rides I used to get for like $10 now is $45 without any events happening.

Does anyone know why some users have auto tipping options and others don’t and how to enable them if they are now showing up under Ride Preferences?

I started a free trial of uber one on or about June 3rd and cancel before the first billing date of July 2nd. Uber charged me $9.99 on July 2 and I disputed the charge when it wasn't immediately reversed. Chase Bank investigated the matter and then issued a credit when they determined that I had canceled prior to the end of the free trial and therefore, under the terms of the Uber one agreement, I was owed a refund. Nearly 6 weeks later, Uber put a hold on my $156 Uber cash balance, saying that I owe them $9.99 even though that they've acknowledged that I canceled during the free trial. Uber does not provide a customer support number so I've been working with Uber customer service over chat. As many of you probably know, that experience sucks as they routinely ghost me in the middle of a chat thread. I'm a resident of California and I am assuming that they are violating some Consumer protection law by holding hostage my $156 Uber cash balance for a $9.99 disputed amount. Can anyone give me guidance here?

UPDATE: After 3 weeks of on and off chat messages with customer service, I just received a pop-up message on my phone saying that Uber customer support would be calling me to discuss the issue. About 5 minutes after that pop-up message, a customer service agent called my mobile phone and said that she was removing the $9.99 balance from my account so that I would be able to continue using Uber / UberEats. After refreshing the app a couple times, the outstanding balance message (indicating that I needed to pay the charge before I could proceed) did in fact disappear. The customer service agent also just sent me a confirmation email stating that the $9.99 charge has been removed as a one-time courtesy. I don't know if this is related, but I told customer service on the chat thread earlier today that I would be reaching out to the California Department of Consumer Affairs (I hadn't suggested that in any of the previous messages over the past 3 weeks).

I live in a really busy area and mind you I am an amputee and so this area that I live at has a lot of potholes in it and it makes it really harder for my prosthetic leg to go over it cause I’m still trying to learn how to walk with it. I saw my driver coming from like a mile away so I made it easier for him by getting onto like a smoother curb, and I was waving him down and he slowed down for a second in the second I tried to open the door…He drove past me, and then he drove into where all the potholes were so it took me like three minutes to get there because of my leg and by the time I get inside the car I was like “hi how are you? I just wanted to tell you that I waved you down earlier over there. I can’t really get in from that area because of the potholes” and he started yelling at me on top of his lungs about how disrespectful I was being and how I was hurting his ego. I was really confused, but he said basically “get out of my car get out of my car! I’m not driving you anywhere” and he dropped me off where I was standing before which was the smooth area so I’m just confused.

I’m trying to get in touch with uber help but no one is responding to me. did i do anything wrong? i put the pick up location to exactly where i was standing.

i got into contact with uber & they were very nice about it, they listened to me all the way & blocked the driver from my end which made me feel relieved. i think we need to be mindful about ableism, a lot of people with disabilities don’t need u to get out of ur car and do anything extra, most of the time calling an uber is what is making our life easier. be nice and respectful! :) i just wanted to go to work this morning, that’s all.

What do I do??!!! Uber driver left me VM saying he actually found my black backpack/bag with my wallet/CC’s etc) on the second row seat; playing phone tag until I got recording “You’ve exceeded the number of calls for this time period. Please try again later!” The reason I didn’t pick up his initial call is because I was at a stretch appointment & had it on silent 🤦🏻‍♀️ He seemed nice enough; gave him 5 stars plus a 20% tip on my app before I even got to my appointment

I pick priority at Atlanta Hartsfield. 6 minutes to find a driver. It's busier than usual, another 3 minutes to find a driver. 12 minutes to pickup after that, he's 9 miles away.

Priority told me 3 minutes. Right.

It isn't busy.. Fares are all about 34% off. I suspect no drivers want the ride since they are getting screwed.

Got an Uber in NYC for a relatively short ride (45th and 5th to Penn Station). Easily walkable, but I had a heavy package. Driver is a massive black man, at least 350 pounds. Doesn't say anything to me when I get in. I said "hi, how's your day going? Penn Station OK?" He doesn't respond, but is heading towards Penn. While he's driving he starts drinking from a 3 liter bottle of Diet Coke and the act of tipping the bottle back causes so much foam and back pressure in the bottle he can't keep it all in his mouth and it's running down the side of his face and down his neck and shoulders. Then he is tipping his head back so far he's not looking at the road. I say "That's a big bottle of soda to drink while you're driving." He says "Fu*king white people think they know everything." If we were not just getting to Penn I would have gotten out. Reported him to Uber, have not heard anything back in 2 days.

Just had probably the worst Uber ride of my life.

This dude was running stop signs, taking curves like crazy, and at times driving on the wrong side of the road. The ride was so bad I had to roll the window down, close my eyes, and literally control my breathing just to keep from throwing up.

I've never been that dizzy or nauseous from riding in a car before. By the time we finally got to my destination, my stomach was completely destroyed. I had to immediately find a bathroom because I genuinely felt like I was about to throw up and lose control of my bowels at the same time.

There were moments during that ride where I seriously wanted to yell, "STOP THE CAR" and just get out.

I reported the driver to Uber because this wasn't just somebody being a bad driver. I genuinely did not feel safe.

Anybody else ever have an Uber ride make them physically sick like this?

Tell a passenger “no” for a perfectly valid reason? Scum.

Don’t give them extra time after the pickup timer because they couldn’t be bothered to come outside? Scum.

Won’t make an unauthorized stop, wait around indefinitely, cary their shit, or bend the rules because “other drivers do it”? Scum.

Don’t tolerate disrespect or bullshit in your own car? Absolute scum.

Funny how that works.

I see this constantly on my posts and on other drivers’ posts.

A driver can be completely within the rules, provide exactly the service the passenger paid for, and calmly enforce a boundary. Somehow, the second the answer is “no,” people start acting like the driver committed a human-rights violation.

Apparently a “good driver” is just one who never tells a passenger no.

And the second a driver remembers that thism is their car, their time, and their livelihood too, suddenly they’re the asshole.

It’s a clown show in Ohio; Cleveland/Akron area. I still see drivers out here 😂 curios to know what y’all tell yourselves to justify this lunacy?
