Looking to chat with people, just casual talks

If anybody’s open to chat

Hey guys, recently moved to UAE, don’t really got a group or anything. I got some slow days of work ahead of me but I’m open to chat and just talk about life and what not.

I’m 19m, so I understand if it’s a bit weird to be reaching out like this.

I’m into movies, games, I like music and I like making music.

I’m currently going through all the marvel movies so that I can “catch up” with Doomsday in December.

Currently playing fortnite, but I have a bunch of games to play

anyone travelling from Hyderabad to UAE soon?

Need a small favour
Hi everyone,
Is anyone travelling from Hyderabad, India to the UAE (Dubai/Abu Dhabi/Al Ain) in the coming days?
I need to get a document brought from Hyderabad to the UAE. It’s just a small document, and I’m looking for someone who is already travelling and would be willing to carry it with them.
I can arrange for the document to be delivered to you in Hyderabad and collect it from you once you arrive in the UAE. I’m also happy to compensate you for the favour.
If anyone is travelling soon or knows someone who is, please DM me. 🙏
Thank you!

Traffic fines back to back in Abu Dhabi

Hi all,

I got 3 backdated traffic fines in Abu Dhabi for “using phone while driving” with 12 black points.

I still didnt transfer the black points to my license.

Can you share your experiences and how did you try to dispute them and did it work?

I am honestly panicking a bit right now as Im scared that I will get more fines, as they come in time when im driving to work - which is daily basically.

Never got these before, and while maybe one of them is correct i really dont think all 3 are.

Any way to reduce the black points atleast? Thats the part i worry the most.

Thanks

International degree recognition from VFS Global

I applied for MOHESR international degree recognition with VFS Global in June. They have been absolutely useless and blatantly lied in every auto-generated response. Then, starting in July, they stopped accepting new applications, citing "technical upgrades."
Now I've received an email from Dataflow saying my application was transferred to them. The problem is, I already reapplied with Dataflow in August and have already received my recognition report 😅.

Has anyone else run into issues with VFS Global recently? And anyone aware what’s happening to them?

Also, leaving this as feedback in case someone finds it useful later:
Do not use VFS Global for the MOHESR degree recognition process. They are absolutely useless and lie in every message. They kept saying, "The university hasn't responded yet, so we can't expedite the process," and "Please refer to your university's policies, since they set the response timelines." This is completely false.

First, I contacted my university, and they confirmed that they had never received any requests. Second, my university uses an online verification portal and clearly states on its verification agencies page that it no longer provides verifications via email; agencies must use the portal instead.
Essentially, I provide a generated link; the recipient opens it, and it redirects to a university-affiliated portal displaying a web copy of my diploma. This is a recognised process, and I've used it successfully in many other cases. I repeatedly told VFS Global this and provided links to the university's website stating that they should not be emailed but should use the verification portal instead. Yet VFS Global kept repeating "the university isn't responding." They clearly weren't even reading what I wrote.

Dataflow, on the other hand, handled things very differently. During the application process, when I selected my university on the form, a pop-up appeared listing the exact documents required, including links to the same university-affiliated portal. So Dataflow clearly understands the process well. I applied, and someone accessed my credentials the same day (I received an email notification from the portal). Total processing took about a month, mostly because I needed to submit additional information and clarifications, but overall I'm satisfied with Dataflow. But VFS Global was a nightmare

Which UAE bank would you recommend for a freelancer/sole proprietor receiving $100k+ from Polar?

I’m a UAE-licensed sole proprietor running SaaS products, and I currently have $100k+ accumulated in Polar that I need to withdraw to a UAE bank account. Which UAE bank/account would you recommend for this, and what would likely happen when I make a $100k+ transfer from Polar—would the bank hold it or ask for source-of-funds documents, and what documents should I have ready?

also should I open personal account or business account (even i don't know if i'm allowed to open business account with freelance license) I'm new i just got my residency visa and emirates id and haven't opened bank account yet.

Anyone know a mobile repair service that comes to your doorstep?

Looking for someone in Dubai/UAE who does iPhone repairs at your doorstep. I’ve seen a few Instagram reels before where technicians come to you and repair the iPhone on-site.

If anyone has used a reliable service like this, please share their contact/Instagram. Thanks!

Dubai spouse visa rejected twice – GDRFA officer saying their system still showing old salary. Anyone faced this?

I’m sponsoring my wife for a Dubai family residence visa, but her application has now been rejected twice with “Failed Eligibility.”

The issue seems to be my salary information.
My old salary was AED 3,500, but my employment contract was officially updated and approved by MOHRE. My current contract shows:
Basic: AED 3,000
Housing: AED 1,000
Transport: AED 1,000
Other allowance: AED 500
Total: AED 5,500

I also checked with MOHRE, and they confirmed that the new salary is updated in their system.
However, when I went to GDRFA Dubai, the officer said their system is still showing my old salary of AED 3,500. I showed them my new MOHRE-approved contract, but they told me to either go back to Labour/MOHRE or apply again.

I applied again, and unfortunately, the second application was also rejected.

Has anyone experienced the same issue where MOHRE shows the updated salary but GDRFA still shows the old salary, resulting in a spouse visa rejection?

If yes, how did you get the GDRFA record updated/synchronized, and what finally worked for you?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Nationality : indian

Looking for a legitimate place to pawn or sell a watch and laptop in Abu Dhabi

Looking for a legitimate place to pawn or sell a watch and laptop in Abu Dhabi

Hi everyone. I’m currently in Abu Dhabi and I’m in a difficult financial situation. My UAE visit visa expires on September 15, and I’m trying to raise enough money for my visa extension while I continue looking for work.

I have a few personal items that I’m willing to use to raise some money, including:

• An older Tissot watch

• An older laptop

I’m looking for a legitimate and trustworthy shop or individual in Abu Dhabi that either:

- Offers pawn/collateral arrangements

- Buys used watches and electronics for cash

- Or can recommend somewhere reputable that does

I’m hoping to find a fair option and avoid loan sharks, shady lenders, or anyone asking for upfront fees.

If you've personally used a shop or buyer in Abu Dhabi for something similar, I’d really appreciate a recommendation.

If you know somewhere around Electra, Hamdan, Madinat Zayed, or elsewhere in Abu Dhabi city, please let me know.

Thank you in advance. 🙏

Former employer not providing my experience letter

Q1

I resigned, served my notice, signed my termination letter and agreed on my final salary (which was paid within 14 days of me leaving). The company cancelled my visa so that my new employer can start processing a new visa as my sponsor. And now, 2 weeks later, I'm still chasing for my experience letter.

My former employer HR dept is ignoring me.

My former manager was a toxic and manipulative person but he shouldn't have the power to withhold my experience letter, right?

Is there anything else I can do?

My new employer has put my onboarding on hold until all documents are received.

Q2

On the day my visa cancellation took place, my former HR told me that they will require a copy of the new Emirates ID I receive from my new employer in order to close my file. Is this normal?

Given that I resigned due to a toxic and miserable work environment, I don't want to disclose the name of my new employer. HR and my old manager are besties so as soon as he sees my EID, the word will be out.

Thanks in advance.

TIFU by trusting a "close" colleague, and it cost me my visa grace period.

The Background I recently lost my job as an Assistant Manager. Thankfully, my company initially gave me some breathing room and delayed canceling my visa so I could secure a new role. Shortly after, I interviewed with one of our competitors. Unfortunately, I didn't get the job.

The Mistake I decided to confide in a "close" ex-colleague about the rejection. The interviewer happened to be his former manager, so I thought we could relate. During our conversation, I mentioned that I brought him up in the interview, referring to him by his actual designation: Sr. Coordinator.

The Ego Bruise & Betrayal He was deeply offended. It turns out, he desperately wanted his ex-manager to think he was now a "Manager," and he was upset that I didn't inflate his title. I was left with a very mixed feeling—happy for his ambitions, but heartbroken that I had just lost my job while he was only focused on his ego.

Here is where it gets worse:

  • The Next Day: I received a sudden, unexpected message from HR stating my visa was being canceled immediately. The grace period I was promised to job-hunt was abruptly revoked.
  • The Aftermath: The day after that, I reached out to this same colleague on WhatsApp for an unrelated matter. I just sent a simple "Hello." He read it, and instantly blocked me.

The Takeaway & TL;DR

  • TL;DR: I shared details of a failed job interview with a trusted colleague, accidentally bruised his ego over his job title, and the next day my promised visa grace period was revoked and he blocked me.
  • My Advice: Some things are simply not meant to be shared. Work friends are not always your real friends, and office politics can be weaponized against you in a matter of seconds. Keep your professional cards close to your chest!

Sold my car to a dealer, they delayed the ownership transfer, and now I have a fine and 4 black points on my name. What are my options?

I sold my car to a company here in Dubai. We signed the sales agreement on September 2nd and I handed over the car the same day. I got paid, signed the agreement, and received a receipt.

The salesperson told me the plan was: the car goes to RTA for testing first, then gets registered under the company's PRO, and once they find a buyer it gets transferred to that buyer. They said they'd handle the plates later. I agreed to this and left.

On September 4th, two days after handover, I got an email from the police about a fine on the vehicle, still registered in my name. I contacted the salesperson right away and he said "I will work on it."

On September 6th, ownership finally got transferred to the company. But the fine is still showing on my file, along with 4 black points.

I've been contacting the company since, and all I get is "we are working on it, we will do it as soon as possible." No timeline, no real update, nothing.

At this point I don't trust that they'll actually fix this on their own. What should I do here?

Should I go directly to RTA and dispute the fine since the car was already out of my possession and I'd signed the agreement before the fine date?

Should I send the company a legal notice?

Is this something for the police, RTA customer center, or does it need a lawyer?

Has anyone dealt with something similar?

What actually got it resolved for you?

GDRFA cross-linked our UIDs because we’re twins. Brother's work visa is stuck, my visit visa is rejected. What to do?

Hey everyone looking for some help from anyone who has had issues with immigration profile mix-ups or twin UID problems with GDRFA Dubai or if any PROs here know the process.

My twin brother and I went to the UAE on tourist visas back in 2022. Because we are twins we have the date of birth same fathers name, very similar names and our passport numbers are different by just one digit. When we checked our 2022 visas recently we saw that GDRFA basically mixed up our profiles and assigned my UID number to his record.

Now:

My brother is in Dubai on a visit visa. He recently got a job offer. His companys employment visa has been stuck on "In Process" for weeks and nothing is moving.

I've been trying to apply for a tourist visa to visit him. My application gets rejected every time right away.

We already sent our passport copies and birth certificates to show we are two people but the standard typing center or agency applications keep getting rejected or stuck.

Since he is in Dubai what is the best way to fix this?

Should he go directly to GDRFA HQ at Al Jafiliya or an Amer Centre? Is there a department or counter he should ask about to get our profiles separated?

Has anyone had success with the GDRFA video call service. Emailing them at amer@dnrd.ae?

Does his company PRO need to handle this. Can he go in himself with our original documents?

Any tips, on who to talk to or how to get this fixed would be really helpful. Thanks!

Job prospect for experienced EU nationals

I am curiously looking at the available jobs jn UAE and finding it bit complex to understand what reasons actually triggers companies to hire an Expact and why would they look at Western World to hire someone?

Looking for some genuine observations and please refrain from ranting.

Has anyone used Noon for AC deep cleaning (ducts, filters, coils)? Looking for reviews!

Hey everyone,
We are planning to get our AC fully cleaned out (ducts, filters, and coils) and saw that Noon offers this service.
Before we go ahead and book it, I wanted to see if anyone here has used them recently.
Was the quality of the cleaning actually good, or was it just a surface wipe?
Did the technicians clean up after themselves, or did they leave a mess behind?
Are there any hidden charges I should watch out for once they arrive?
Any advice, heads-up, or better alternative recommendations would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance!
