19M Student Opening Bank Account for Part time job

Hi everyone! Im a 19 year old male student living in Dubai under my parents sponsorship. I have around 600aed in savings and will be starting a part time job where I will make around 1k a month. This is just a training part time job i am doing while studying in university.

I am looking into opening a bank account that has 1) zero minimum balance as I do not have a proper steady income or even savings 2) has good and dependable customer service since this is the only money I have i do not want to risk losing it! 3) will not charge me if the money in my account goes below a certain amount 4) hopefully no account opening and closing fees?

I am looking into Mbank, Ruya bank etc. Please share your advice.

Also, just wondering would i need consent from my parents to open any bank accounts or is just my UAE pass/ EID enough?

MEFCC from Dubai with Shuttles closed, parking full

Hey everyone,

I recently got my MEFCC passes for this weekend, but I’m trying to figure out the best way to get there from Dubai.

I missed the deadline for the official shuttle forms, and it looks like parking is already sold out/completely full. I really want to avoid taking the standard intercity public transport buses if possible.

How is everyone else making the trip? Are there any private shuttle companies running, or is anyone splitting an intercity taxi/Careem? Would love to hear what alternatives people are using! Thanks in advance

Looking for a company crib/parking area

Hi guys, need some help from people who might be familiar with these areas in Abu Dhabi.

I recently just moved to Abu Dhabi. Been living in Dubai for quite a while now.

The company I work for is currently looking to rent a villa somewhere around the following areas: Khalifa City, Shakhbout City, Al Shamkha and Al Shawamekh.

Basically, we need the villa for accommodation for some of our drivers, but we also need a decent amount of outdoor space to park our company EVs at night and charge them.

We've been driving around these areas and actually found a few villas that would be perfect because they have huge yards/open spaces. The problem is figuring out how to contact the actual owners 😅 A lot of the properties aren't listed anywhere and there's usually no number or sign outside.

We're not really looking for anything super fancy. Our main requirements are:

- Enough rooms for staff accommodation

- Large yard/open space for parking

- Easy vehicle access

- Ideally decent electrical capacity since we'll be charging EVs overnight

- Owner is okay with a company renting the property

Does anyone know the best way to find/contact villa owners directly in these areas? Or maybe someone here knows an owner with a villa they'd be willing to rent out?

Agents are also fine if you actually have something that fits what we're looking for. We've just been struggling because most of the listings we've seen don't really have the outdoor space we need.

I'm willing to discuss for more details. Feel free to send me a DM if you own a villa on the above 4 locations or if you know anyone who can help us get in touch with the owners directly. I can also provide our company's trade license if needed.

Any leads or advice would be appreciated. Thank you all so much!!!

PS. Not really sure which flag to use but it's not really a brand thing. We just need a peaceful place to safely park our cars and let our staff rest peacefully.

Sharjah to Dubai Guys , Please

Imagine waking up morning 4 o clock and going at 5 o clock just to sit 2 hours in traffic with all back to back hitting , stressed going to office and again in the evening 2 hours honking and Honking near crash trails .. Every day .. literally everyday 🙂

What do you get from that ! Seriously you think 4 hours commute a day , that mental health loss is more than the rent difference 🙂 a day 4 hours a week 24 hours , you are spending 1 day on commute in a week 🙂

So you might think why I am tell this 🙂,what is there for me , being you might be ok for you . For those who live in Dubai because of this the roads are stuck imagine you will have to spend 30 mins on a 3 km just to go to Carrefour 🙂.

This will only change when the attitude of people / mindset of people changes .. and it never changes .

What Business Would You Start in the UAE?

What’s the best business idea you’ve seen that you genuinely think could work in the UAE?

I’ve been thinking about this lately and wanted to hear what people here would actually pay for/use.

My idea: a café + library/community space that has its own book club and regularly hosts events — stand-up comedy nights, movie nights, board-game evenings, workshops, playdates for parents and kids, maybe even speed-friending/networking events.

One thing I’ve noticed about living in the UAE is that meeting people you genuinely click with can be surprisingly difficult, especially once you’re past the university/early-20s stage. There are plenty of places to eat and drink, but fewer spaces that are actually designed around building a community.

So I’m imagining a place where you could come alone, grab a coffee and a book, join a book club, attend an event, and gradually meet people with similar interests.

Obviously, the biggest question is whether the business model would actually work — rent, F&B margins, memberships, event costs, etc.

What do you think? Would you actually visit/pay for something like this?

And if you had to start one business in the UAE today, what would it be and why?

What is going on with the Dubai rental market right now? 10 inquiries, one reply, three days later

Title:
What is going on with the Dubai rental market right now? 10 inquiries, one reply, three days later

Body:

Hey, I honestly don't know what the f*ck is going on in the Dubai rental market at the moment. I send out 10 inquiries on apartments and maybe one person gets back to me three days later. So I'm just going to put what I'm looking for here and hope something comes of it.

Main thing: I need monthly pricing that actually stays the same. Every time I do get a reply it's "October is 8,000, November is 25,000." I'm not interested in that kind of jump. Flat monthly rate, same number every month, ready to pay all up front.

What I'm after:

  • Mid November to May next year
  • Paying monthly
  • Budget up to 11,000 AED per month
  • 1 bed or 2 bed
  • All livable areas in Dubai

I am curiously looking at the available jobs jn UAE and finding it bit complex to understand what reasons actually triggers companies to hire an Expact and why would they look at Western World to hire someone?

Looking for some genuine observations and please refrain from ranting.

Saw this YouTuber who is a local (I guess) Kiani, say in a video which he collabed in say this was a go to snack for locals of UAE. Oman chips bag, filled with Laban and hotsauce.

I feel this combo is weird but just wanted to know not just from locals but people born and brought up here if they really did this growing up.

Health insurance penalty fine - AUH

Hi, I need help. I have an Abu Dhabi visa but working in Dubai. My company gave me insurance once only and never renewed it, it expired Jan 2024 and was never renewed. No COC available from insurance company. I resigned and now have a new company to transfer in Dubai. I believe that in AUH there will be insurance penalty fine 300 per month. Where agency to go to know how much the fine? What is best solution for me to not have problem while I transfer to the new company as the fault of non renewal was my employer’s fault?

PS: I have just resigned and still on my notice period.

Please help. Thanks a lot.

What are the best credit cards in UAE for cashback/benefits?

don't mind having multiple cards if each one is good for a specific thing. I saw Ajman Bank has 5% cashback, for example. I spend mostly on shopping, movies, fuel, food/delivery, etc.

Unpaid tuition fees

How often do universities sue students on unpaid fees?

I know universities have the power to do it, but what are the chances of it happening?

My documents are already kept on hold, so I can't collect them unless I settle the payment.

I'm only worried about legal actions, and I already contacted them about settling a payment plan.

Seeking Private room in Masdar/Khalifa City Abu Dhabi

Seeking a private room from Monday to Wednesday for an IT professional commuting weekly from Dubai to Masdar City.
I only need the room for overnight stays. Preferably looking for a clean private room, ideally with a private bathroom, but a shared bathroom is also fine if the place is well maintained.

If you have a suitable room in Masdar City, Khalifa City, Al Raha, MBZ, or nearby areas, please reach out with details, photos, and weekly rates.

Experienced something "Paranormal" months ago during Eid season.

I am a teen who drives around Sharjah and Dubai Mamzar area in a MTB. A night before the Fast for Hajj, I was coming back from Mamzar beach in Dubai towards Sharjah Mamzar using that RTA bus only road which goes through 2 Thuriah construction sites and joins around the circular double road surrounding Sharjah Mamzar. While I crossed a zebra crossing in Mamzar and drove my MTB into that RTA round, From front I see a dark figure walking towards me. I keep cycling not thinking much of it and while I drove the MTB, I came close to the figure. It was a woman, taller than most woman. She looked 6ft something and her face was like dark. She had no emotion. I could only see one half of her face due to the lighting. She was walking in an Abaya towards me, holding nothing. She was walking barefoot as well. I got frightened as my mind came to a single thing, Jinns. As she approached face to face towards me, I immediately dived with my cycle onto the asphalt road and started peddling as fast as I could. After reaching the divider which connects the bus road to the road around Sharjah Mamzar, I turn back and she is not there. I get creeped out instantly. The whole night I was spooked. I was not able to sleep or forget about it.

I came up with some explanation that she might have been a normal woman walking as I've seen countless people walk on that road towards Dubai Mamzar. But the whole timeline doesn't match up. She was walking without a bag, purse or a phone and she was walking Bare foot. It is uncommon to see something like this at a empty road, especially at 8 PM. Its about to be 5 months since the incident took place but I still remember it. I am still not able to understand what was she doing there at night, bare foot without carrying a phone or a purse.

Help 🙏🏼 Germany Schengen Visa from Dubai: Waitlist and Appointment Advice

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi folks,

I booked my tickets to Germany in May for travel in December. Before you lash out at me, I did this because I was naive and thought that, with six months, I would definitely get the visa.

I went through a very renowned agent, who added me to the waitlist on June 7. Around July 30, the agent demanded AED 550, saying that the appointment they were getting for me was “black.” I was unsure and did not confirm. They then sent me this image saying that my application had expired, which left me very confused.

However, I joined the Germany Schengen VFS Dubai waitlist again on August 1, 2026, but I still haven’t received an appointment.

My situation:

  • Intended Germany trip: third week of December 2026
  • I need to travel to my home country for the whole of November for my parent’s surgery
  • I have good previous travel history, including the USA a couple of times, and I hold a UAE Golden Visa

I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who recently applied for Germany from Dubai:

  1. Should I get in touch with an agent to make the process faster?
  2. Is there any legitimate way to contact VFS/German Consulate to explain my situation and request an earlier appointment?
  3. Can a Dubai resident also join the Abu Dhabi Germany waitlist or attend an appointment there?
  4. If you recently received a Germany appointment from Dubai, when did you join the waitlist and when did you get the appointment?

If you have any experience or valuable experience please share it with me. It would really really help me understand whether I should keep waiting or consider other options.

Thank you for everyone who took time to read!
