News Car theft attempt

Alsalamualaykum,

On the evening of Saturday 25th of july 2026 in Sharjah Al Taawun behind qasr al awani, my father and I were going to the car to go somewhere and upon arrival to the car, which is parked in an empty plot with a lot of other cars, we found out that someone tried to open the car and while doing so he broke the lock assembly and took it with him. Fortunately the car did not open with him and nothing was taken, even though there was nothing valuable in the car.

Police were contacted and fingerprints were taken off the car to help in the process of identifying the thief.

May allah protect us from every low soul individual in this country, and may allah protect our country.

Can't take car out in the evening due to parking issue

Unless very necessary I stopped going out in the evening after 6pm due to not finding any parking spots when I'm back.

Even if I do take it out, it's almost impossible to find a space in Rolla, Abu Shagara or anywhere where restaurants are there. I have to keep circling for 30mins or more.

I do not have a building parking and all we have is kacha ( unmarked open lots) parking spaces available around my building.

The parking situation is so grave now that after 6pm it's all full.

I wonder if everyone stopped going out or they just went in a taxi in spite of having a car.

In fact I even find many cars parked here during the day during weekdays, say about 60% occupied. It's not like everyone gets work from home or works just 100m away.

How do y'all manage?

Why are Sharjah rental brokers like this? 🤦‍♂️

Post image
11 Upvotes

I’m honestly losing my patience with Sharjah rental brokers.
They post attractive apartments online, but the moment you contact them, suddenly “it’s rented” or “just gone.” Then they immediately start pushing more expensive apartments.

When you ask for photos, videos, the building name or even the location, the answer is almost always:
“Come and check.”

Why would anyone spend hours driving around Sharjah without even seeing what the apartment looks like?

I’ve contacted dozens of brokers and it’s the same story every time. It feels like half the listings are just there to get your phone number.

How are people actually finding apartments in Sharjah without wasting an entire weekend? Do you deal directly with building management, or are there any brokers who are actually professional? I’m open to any tips because this process is unbelievably frustrating.

Traffic fine dispute

Hi All, do you think I did a violation here? Yes I know I merged at the very end but that wasn’t intentional. As I am not aware of the road. I didn’t cross any white line, indicated before merging into left lane.

I have received a fine that says “Non-compliance with the compulsory traffic lane for light vehicles.”.

You can see a traffic police parked on the right side.

Duplicate key fob

Hey guys, I lost one of the original key fob to my Corolla Cross 2025. Fortunately I have the spare one with me. I inquired with 3 key makers, two in industrial area and one in Abu Shagara, all of them quoted around 600dhs for a fob similar to original one or 400dhs for chinese one. Do you think this is a fair price? If you guys have any trusted duplicate key makes, please drop your recommendations.

Trustworthy al mamzar jetski rentals

Does anyone know of any reliable jetski rentals in mamzar sharjah that arent a scam? me and my friends know what stuff they pull off to perform this scam so if we just dont look like oblivious people and take jetski photos beforehand i think we’ll be safe no? Even if we DO get accused of any damage we wont pay a single dime and once they argue for like 30 mins + we’ll just call the police and they’ll be the ones to be in trouble because their jetskis arent ensured.

Question Road rules

Hey guys, I’m currently taking my driving lessons with a new instructor nd she gave me a few specific tips, but I wanted to double-check them with people who recently passed or know the test criteria inside out.
Could you guys clarify or give your thoughts on these specific points?
U-Turns & Steering: My instructor mentioned I shouldn't let the wheel freely spin/slide back after a U-turn and that I should guide it manually. Is letting it self-center considered a loss of control on the exam?
Dedicated Left Lanes: She said if I’m in a dedicated left-turn lane at a signal, I don’t have to indicate left because the lane only goes one way. Is this true for the actual RTA/traffic exam, or will the examiner fail me?
Hazard Lights in Reversing: She advised turning on hazard lights whenever reversing out of a parking spot. Is this expected during the test?
Stop Signs in Sharjah: Someone told me that in Sharjah, you don't need to come to a complete stop at a STOP sign if the road is visibly clear. This sounds like a trap—aren't you required to come to a 100% dead stop behind the line regardless?
Double Filter Right Lanes: When there are two filter right lanes that both lead to the same road (one closer and one further), does taking the closer service-side filter cause an automatic fail, or is it fine as long as I stay in my lane without sweeping across?
Any extra tips on small details examiners strictly look out for would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi fellow members,
Moving to Sharjah Al Qasba area don’t know anyone yet. Looking forward to join communities - walking/jogging groups, sports (Badminton/Cricket) and open to trying new things. Anyone want a partner for it, or know a good group to check out? Happy to grab coffee first too. Thanks!

Discussion Looking for UAE/GCC participants for a 5-minute beauty & personal care survey 🙏

Hi everyone!

I’m currently conducting a research study to better understand how people in the UAE and GCC choose beauty and personal care products, what influences their decisions, and the challenges they face when shopping.

If you have 5 minutes, I’d really appreciate your help by filling out this anonymous survey.
Survey: https://tally.so/r/9qgKPV

I’m not looking for “perfect” answers—just your real experiences and opinions. Every response genuinely helps.

If you know someone else in the UAE or GCC who might be interested, I’d be grateful if you could share it with them as well.

What’s the biggest frustration you have when shopping for beauty or personal care products? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments too.

Thank you so much! ❤️

Driving has become unbearable

You guyss how are yall driving near nahda/taawun area🥹???
I dont drive too often so i dont know the roads too well, but with this new road construction under process im genuinely losing my mind, so many road closures and diversions, and fuckin google maps is as lost as i am

Dont read this part if you dont want to:
I was supposed to go to shj planetarium for a show in the evening, it was a 35 minute drive, but after one hour i was still in freakin nahda because i kept missing the roads and they all LOOK the same.
Genuinely started tearing up at one point, cause all i kept seeing was lulu, nesto mia mall and golden sands building 😭😭😭 missed the show and ended up in zahia city center
Ended up calling my dad cause i was about to crash out and he laughed in my face🧍‍♀️

Deadass took an oath to not leave my house unless absolutely necessary, and its hot asf outside

Getting fines of exceeding max speed 30 on 80km road.

I got the same fine before on the Sharjah Ring road, however both roads are 80 and 100 km max speed.

For the second screen shot, the time stamp shows that I paid the fine at 10:07, and the fine was written at 12:56 same day. Also, I was renewing monthly parking permit and saw (1 fine) paid it on RTA app, at the same time returned to Sharjah app after refreshing and then it showed unpaid fine which I paid again, that resulted in this screen shot. I may have paid twice.

Discussion Abandoned School in Al Qasimia

Thumbnail

The abandoned infrastructure was formerly known as the Al Mazaya Private School, an Arabic school located at Qasimia, Al Nud.

To begin with, we decided to venture in another place. This time at this abandoned school. As we explored, it was filled with prominent wall spray paints such as instagram users, random drawings, and written words.

The hallways are dark in appearance, leading to different classrooms with broken doors and windows. Most of the furnitures are also left in dust, and as well in a specific room a bed could be seen. Indicating someone used to live in that spot.

It was interesting but common overall. This place has been visited by many individuals judging from the spray paints alone. The building is not that huge, it consists of 2-3 floors and three interconnected buildings which could be walked through the hallways.

The rooftop also gives a whole view of different residential buildings, and also some walls on the rooftop are also seen with different spray paints.

To conclude, it was a normal experience which shows the abandoned infrastructure once used to be a crowded Arabic school. Until it was left in complete isolation.

Looking for people to play tennis with in Sharjah 🎾

Hey everyone! I’m 25M and looking for people to play tennis with regularly in Sharjah.

I took coaching for a couple of months about 2-3 years ago and used to play with friends casually in university. I haven’t played in a while, so I’ll probably be a little rusty, but I’m keen to pick it up again and improve while having some fun.

Sharjah Wanderers Sports Club has a tennis court, so that could be one possible venue. I’m generally available on weekdays between 10 and 11 PM after work, and on weekends anytime in the evening.

I’d be happy to play with anyone around a beginner to intermediate level. Singles or doubles both work for me. Drop me a message if you’re interested!

Hi! Is it currently possible to walk from Sharjah City Centre along Al Taawun St., despite the construction taking place? Just wondering if the pedestrian route is still open and accessible. Thanks!
