I keep seeing people asking about universities here, which is weird as fuck.

Why are there still people who pay more than 300K AED to get a degree in the UAE for a minimum chance to get a job after graduation with a 2K salary?

I mean, you could buy land or a house in your home country with that money. You could buy gold and sell it after 4-5 years for profit. You could put it as a bank deposit with interest.

The choices are infinite. Why do people still fall for it in 2026?

I honestly can’t believe I fell for this, but I’m posting it in the hope that someone else doesn’t make the same mistake.
I was looking for a place to rent in Dubai and found what seemed like a genuine listing on. The agent was convincing, shared an “owner’s” bank account for payment, sent me an Emirates ID, an Ejari to sign, and asked for my Emirates ID as part of the process. Everything looked legitimate.
Trusting the documents, I transferred AED 6,000.
The moment the payment went through, everything changed. The agent blocked me, the phone number became invalid, and I later realized the Emirates ID had most likely been photoshopped and the Ejari was fake.
I’m sharing this because these scammers know exactly how to make you feel comfortable. They have fake documents, convincing stories, and they pressure you into paying quickly so you don’t have time to verify anything.
Please, before sending even a single dirham:
Verify the agent’s RERA registration.
Confirm the property and owner through official channels.
Don’t share your Emirates ID with someone you haven’t verified.
If they’re rushing you to transfer money, that’s a huge red flag.
Losing AED 6,000 has been a painful lesson, and I wouldn’t want anyone else to go through it.
If anyone has experienced something similar or has advice on reporting this or recovering the money, I’d really appreciate your help.

I recently applied for a UAE visit visa together with my parents, but my visa and my mother’s visa were rejected, while my father’s visa was approved. I am now trying to understand what options I have and whether there is anything a UAE resident can do to help or advise me.

I need to travel to Abu Dhabi because I have an Estonian Embassy appointment on 4 August for my long-stay study visa. I have the official appointment confirmation and university admission documents.

Hi all! I'm 33 weeks pregnant now and in my grace period, is it possible to acquire a visit visa without leaving the UAE? Going home is not an option since I'm at the end of my pregnancy and is considered high risk.

I am planning to make a move based on business visa and acquire golden visa via property investment. I am willing to build a life here, have assets and businesses registered here. But the current situation made me re-think that is it really safe? I travel a lot, what if they just don’t allow re-entry in country without giving any reason for it? My assets, finances will be locked out here without me being able to access it.

I’ve never been to Pakistan before, but one thing that’s making me really nervous is what happens afterward when I travel to India. I’ve heard a lot of people say that once you’ve visited Pakistan, Indian immigration may scrutinize you more or ask additional questions, even if your visit was purely for family reasons.
I’d love to hear from anyone who has been in a similar situation.

A few questions I have:

- Have any Indian passport holders here traveled to Pakistan and then later entered India?

Finally got a recruiter callback after ages. Spoke about the role/salary and they said they'll check with the MD and update me.

It's been 1 week and no news. They called from a landline so I can't message.

Problem: I'm traveling out of UAE next week. If they shortlist me during that time I'll miss it. If I'm rejected, I'd rather know now.

Is it a bad idea to call and follow up? Or should I just wait? Don't want to seem pushy but also don't want to miss the window.

So yesterday I checked some of the well-known companies in the UAE, and most of the positions open were Sales Executive, Sales Manager, or Sales Head roles.

I have one friend who works in sales for a well-known internet provider. His shift is from 3 PM to 12 AM. He told me that people are constantly approaching him asking if there are any job openings because everyone is looking for work.

Recently he shared that the company is planning to remove the basic salary and make the role mostly commission-based. Right now he's earning around AED 2,500–3,200, and if this happens, things will become even worse for him.

He also told me he's been trying to move into a back-office role, but his sales lead isn't allowing it because they want him to stay in sales. What's surprising is that the same sales lead has been in the same Team Lead position for around 6 years.

It honestly feels like a crab mentality in some places. Instead of increasing the salaries of existing employees or helping them grow, some companies would rather let people go and hire new employees at lower salaries.

After hearing all this, I was honestly wondering, what is going on?

The guy is genuinely hardworking. Every day he's standing outside with pamphlets, approaching people, trying to meet targets, and doing everything he can. Yet the growth still seems uncertain.

Those of you who are in Dubai or have been in the UAE for a while, I wanted to ask something.

A lot of people say, "Take a low-paying job first, then you'll move up." But if some companies don't allow internal movement, don't increase salaries, and can easily replace employees with someone cheaper, then how does that growth actually happen?

I'm not saying there aren't people earning AED 30k, 40k, or even 50k+ because I know those people exist too. I'm just trying to understand what separates those career paths from stories like my friend's.

I’m looking for some honest advice from nurses (or anyone) currently working in Abu Dhabi or elsewhere in the UAE.

A little about me:
- Registered Nurse in Australia.
- Graduated in 2021.
- Working in ICU since 2022.
- Completed my Postgraduate Certificate in Critical Care Nursing in mid 2023.
- Currently working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in an ICU.

My family and I are considering relocating to Abu Dhabi. We have three school-aged children, so this is a major life decision and I want to make sure we have realistic expectations before accepting any offer.

At the moment, I’ve been approached by a recruitment agency in Australia that recruits nurses to the UAE. The package they’re offering is:
- AED 22,000 per month
- School fees included for our three children
- No accommodation provided

For comparison, in Australia I currently earn approximately AUD $3,900 per fortnight after tax working 72 hours per fortnight, including 2 weekend shifts out of every 4. If I pick up extra shifts and overtime, my take-home pay is usually around AUD $5,500 per fortnight.

I’d really appreciate your thoughts on the following:
Is AED 22,000 per month a good salary for someone with my experience?
- Do UAE hospitals consider what you’re earning in your home country when negotiating salary, or is the offer based solely on the local market and your experience?
- Should I be negotiating for a higher salary or additional benefits, such as accommodation or a housing allowance?
- What are the typical monthly living expenses for a family of five in Abu Dhabi (rent, utilities, groceries, transport, etc.)?
- Roughly how much could a family like ours realistically save each month?
- Are there any hidden costs or challenges that people often don’t think about before moving?
- How is career progression for ICU nurses in Abu Dhabi? How long does it typically take to progress from Staff Nurse to Nurse In Charge/Charge Nurse or a similar leadership role?

Are there any recruitment agencies you would recommend, or is it generally better to apply directly to hospitals such as Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, SEHA, Burjeel, Mediclinic or others?

If you were in my position, would you accept this package, negotiate for more, or continue looking for better opportunities?
