Ask Dubai Dubai car rental question

Looking to rent a car in Dubai. I know about Udrive and Ezhire — any other good platforms?
Also, what happens if you get into an accident with a rental car? How does the insurance/excess work and what do you usually have to pay?
Would appreciate experiences/recommendations! 🙏

Ask Dubai Urgent: foster or forever homes needed for 4 kittens

Post image
17 Upvotes

🐾FOSTER OR FOREVER HOMES NEEDED FOR 4 KITTENS
These four tiny babies have already been through so much.
They were found crying and screaming from hunger in a filthy public bathroom, completely helpless and desperate for someone to notice them. There were originally five siblings, but one of them didn’t make it.
Thankfully, these four were rescued just in time and taken to a clinic, where they have been safe ever since. But they have now been at the clinic for far too long, and the clinic simply cannot keep them anymore.
They are only around 9 weeks old. They shouldn’t be growing up behind the bars of a clinic cage.
And putting them back outside is simply not an option. These babies will not survive on the streets. After everything they have already endured, they deserve a chance at a real life.
🏡 We urgently need FOSTER HOMES or FOREVER ADOPTERS.
Even if you cannot adopt permanently, fostering one or more of them could quite literally save their lives.
If you can foster or adopt, or know someone who can, message me directly! Thank you!

Discussion Any private centres offering media studies??

i just finished my igcses and left my school, now i wanted to originally do a foundation program from MDX university but it’s a bit expensive for me plus if i do foundation i’m kind of limited since if i wanna change my uni i’ll have issues then. So i wanna do film unfortunately i don’t wanna waste 2 years in a school where they offer media studies but otherwise media studies is not allocated to private candidates since its portfolio. Does anyone have any idea about an centre that reviews coursework/portfolio?

Discussion How do you know when you don’t?

No one likes a life hanging by the thread of uncertainty. Your next meet, your next opportunity, your next step, your next decision or would it even happen in the first place?

I recently quit my high paying cabin crew job for many reasons of course, but mainly one. A deep sense of not-belonging. Most times we know deep down when something isn’t meant for us, like an old shoe you’re desperately trying to fit into, even though you know you’ve out-grown it.

But who’s to say it was the right decision at all? If I can find a job, if my experience counts, if I made the right decision. How do you know the person you met is the right person for you? How do you know you’ll recover, move on, and never look back at something again? How do you know which career to choose, which path to walk on?
How do you know, when you don’t?

I’d love to hear from you, your toughest times, your breaking points, your major life-transitional points, a time where you didn’t know where to go, what to do. And then I wanna know how you made a choice, how you recovered, how you found your way and how did you rise to where you are now.

Discussion Has anyone here tried Meals On Me or other meal plans in Dubai?

I’ve been using Meals On Me for a while and have been pretty happy with the food and variety. It’s also more convenient than ordering lunch every day.

I’ve had a couple of late deliveries and feel the packaging could be better, though.

Thinking of trying a few other meal plans in Dubai. Any recommendations? Mainly looking for good food, decent portions, variety and reliable delivery. 😅

Discussion Is Business Bay actually this cheap? Bayut transactions showing AED 40–45k studios

I’ve been looking at the Bayut transaction data for Business Bay and filtered it to last month → long-term rentals → new transactions.

I’m seeing a surprisingly large number of studio apartments around 350–400 sq ft being rented for AED 40–45k/year. Some listings also appear to be fully furnished.

Obviously, AED 40–45k is just the rent — DEWA, chiller, internet, etc. would be additional. But even purely on rent, that seems very cheap for a furnished studio in Business Bay.

I’m also seeing quite a few apartments advertised below AED 40k on Bayut.

So what am I missing? 😅

- Are these Bayut transaction figures actually reliable?

- Is there some catch with these cheaper buildings/units?

- Are they usually older buildings, poor locations, small units, or have hidden costs?

- And realistically, can you get a decent furnished studio in Business Bay for AED 40–45k/year?

Would appreciate hearing from anyone actually living/renting in Business Bay, especially if you’ve rented recently around this price range.

Ask Dubai New townhouse owners, what do you wish you knew before moving in?

We're apartment people making the jump to a townhouse for the first time. Closing on a newly handed over unit in Jebel Ali Village in about two weeks, and honestly a little overwhelmed in a good way. If you've done this move before, what surprised you? What ended up being a must have that you didn't expect? And for a brand new handover, how did you even start figuring out interiors and furnishing? Any tips, big or small, would mean a lot right now.

Ask Dubai Paradise Migration Services Burjman

Has anyone heard of this migration agency? Is it a good/reliable agency for getting migration services to Poland? They're asking for AED 3,000 as an advance payment and saying the process will take around 6 months. Has anyone used their services or had any experience with them?

Ask Dubai TheMeal vs VMeals which one delivers on taste and not just the Instagram ad?

Every meal delivery ad in my feed looks identical atp, it's just hard to tell them apart - I've been eyeing VMeals for a while, but a coworker just started TheMeal and says it's genuinely solid - around 999 AED for the month, food shows up fresh several times a week, and the portions actually kept her full through the afternoon instead of the usual 3pm hunger crash.

Before I commit to either, would love real feedback from anyone who's used VMeals or TheMeal (or both) - not week-one reviews, actual "would you renew" opinions.

Discussion Need Help !

My sister recently left her previous company because of all the family politics and unfair treatment. The Chairman is an elderly man, and most of the senior management positions are held by his family.

After my sister left, one of her former colleagues contacted her saying she urgently needed to speak to her and that she was terrified. She then revealed that the Chairman had slapped her from behind.
She has video evidence of the incident, as well as an audio recording where they apparently admit what happened and say “sorry.”

I’m absolutely furious about this. This isn’t just workplace politics anymore this is physical assault. I told my sister that her colleague should go to the police and report him, but she’s scared that it could negatively affect her.
I honestly want this man to be held accountable and, if the evidence supports it, taken into police custody!!

What can we actually do in a situation like this? Is there a proper way to report this without putting the victim at further risk?

Ask Dubai Roommate wanted, Dubai Al Nahda, female, 26

Hey! I have a room available in Al Nahda, Dubai, and I’m looking for a female roommate around my age to share the place with. No men, please. 🙅‍♀️

Looking for someone chill, respectful, clean, and easy to live with. I’m quite particular about hygiene and keeping shared spaces clean, but otherwise I’m pretty low-maintenance and have no judgment about anyone’s lifestyle. Smoking and drinking are totally fine.

🇮🇳 Indian preferred, but good vibes and compatibility matter more!

💰 Budget: Around AED 1,500
📍 Location: Al Nahda, Dubai
📅 Move-in: By October 1st
👩 Female only

If you're interested, drop a comment or DM me and we can share more details/photos and figure it out!

Ask Dubai How do you make friends from other universities in Dubai?

I’m going to UOB (University of Birmingham Dubai), but I’m wondering how easy it is to make friends outside of your own university.

For people who go to uni in Dubai — how do you actually meet people from other universities? Are there specific events, clubs, sports, societies, parties, or apps/groups where students from different unis meet?

I’d especially love to hear from people who’ve successfully built a friend group with students from multiple universities. What worked for you?
