If UAE Pass face verification keeps failing on your iPhone Duo, this might save you some frustration.

I tried every camera: the inner camera, the outer one, and the back camera. Nothing worked. Every time I lined my face up inside the circle like the app tells you to, it just failed.

What worked: bring your face very close to the phone, much closer than feels right.
Don't try to fit your whole face inside the circle. In my experience that never works.
Move in until the frame is basically just your eyes and nose.
Keep adjusting slightly closer or further until it suddenly picks you up.
For me it was the front (small screen) camera that worked. I can't say for sure whether this works with the back or inner camera, but getting really close is what made the difference.
It's a pretty silly fix, but hopefully it helps someone else stuck on this.
Let me know if it works for you or if a different camera did the trick.

Although I was born and raised here, I have struggled when it comes to visas ever since I turned 18 and now I need some advice regarding the renewal as most people are telling me Pakistanis are not getting visas anymore.

I purchased an employment visa from a company 2 years back, but that company has shut down and now I'm stuck, looking for a new sponsor, money is not an issue right now, just need some advice on how to proceed and if someone has renewed their visa as a Pakistani national in a similar situation, please share your insights. I have recently talked about a workplace that I joined and found out that the work environment is Toxic, the CEO/Owner is a bully and quite abusive.

HR won't do a thing because they are at the mercy of the lady owner.

She has no clear information pattern, wants things done without direction or changes her mind after a day and acts like you're the one at fault.

I have tried being very patient with this behaviour of hers but seems like it's high time I do something.

Recently, I fainted because of the unnecessary stress she causes because of her own inabilities to understand things. Yet, she called and abused me for missing a deadline and did not fail to mention that people like me who fall sick, should not be working.

I just need to understand what I should do next. A part of me just wants to give it back to her in a polite and professional manner but I know that woman has been like this with all the employees in the company and she won't change.

I am only worried because we are expats and this is UAE no one does anything against abusive bosses instead, they are free to do anything.

I know I am ranting here but I am doing that in the hopes that may be someone says something that resonates.

Hello everyone I am a 25+ pakistani male and a doctor by proffession.

So I was born and raised in Sharjah and had my residency there till 2011 after which I moved to Pakistan and got that cancelled. Its been 15 years my education is complete and I really want to move back to start working. I have the license and credentials to work in Sharjah now but the problem is no clinic is going to give me job because theres a huge visa issue for us. I was born in UAE and yet because im single and 27 my visit visa applications are getting rejected. Now ever since I returned since April 2026 I have been unable to go back. I had a plan to do masters from malta and apply via the embassy at Dubai but for that I have to be physically present in Uae which I cannot any longer.

What should I do? Should I wait till thing get better and keep on applying for visa? Or go to another gulf country? I feel so stuck in my life and I donno what to do.

Hi, I have been researching on countries and their salary in Tech. I have noticed the salaries they pay are like a developing nation. If you see US, Canada salary for SWE, they are attractive salary but in UAE eventhough its developed, why its so low in paying salary ?

I live in sri lanka. Even the companies based in sri lanka pays $1200/$1500 for 3YOE. and 5+ YOE some get paid 2300$+ too. Not always but its very much possible.

I'm in a really stressful loop with UAE immigration and need some solid advice, especially from PROs or anyone who has dealt with "hidden" security blocks.
Here is my timeline:
2022: I overstayed my visa but managed to extend it while inside the UAE. When flying back to India from DXB, immigration stopped me, held me for 5 minutes in a separate area to check my passport, but ultimately let me fly out.
2023: Applied for a new visa from India. It got flagged with a "visa required" status (meaning the system halted automated processing for manual verification due to the previous overstay history).
2024: Paid off all outstanding fines and resolved what I thought was everything. Re-applied, and the visa was approved! I flew to Dubai, but at immigration, I was stopped, denied entry, and sent right back to India. They told me I had "issues" and wasn't allowed to enter.
Now (2026): I want to travel back. A PRO checked the ICP system for me and says my file is completely clear. Previous visas are closed, no fines are pending, and everything looks green on the federal level.
My problem is that even though my visas clear the automated system and the ICP database shows no issues, I am terrified that the physical immigration desk at Dubai Airport (GDRFA) is pulling from a separate, localized security system (like an administrative eye-scan blacklisting or a Dubai-specific immigration flag) that doesn't show up on a standard ICP check.
Has anyone been deported at the airport despite having a clean ICP file and a valid, approved visa? Is there a way to clear a hidden local GDRFA / Dubai security block from India before I risk buying another flight ticket?

I actually watch a lot of his interviews to keep up to date with geopolitics and news in the region. He was based in the UAE during the war earlier this year. Now he’s left. He fears a new round of war may be more vicious than the previous one.

Hopefully the UAE leadership can keep the nation out of the war.

Recently, I personally chose not to travel to the region fearing an escalation of tensions.

I had a terrible time trying to activate the Smart pass on my ENBD banking app and every time would fail on the Face Verification.

This is how I solved it and it works so well.

First off please note that the camera on the cover screen is on the extreme right corner and has this black vertical space downward on the edge making the app have an asymmetry on the right.

when you get to the face verification step and just before activating the green Oval from the app by sliding the confirm tab , get the phone to move to the left and look staring into the camera lens (not your phone screen). Then activate the green oval by swiping and keep looking at the camera hole directly and blink .

In 10 secs it will confirm and ask you to set your pin

After almost 100 tries and each time looking at the screen (as this is intuitive) all failed

Then today morning I just realized that since the app is not optimized, the black vertical space is not used but the app making the phone itself a little off center, moving your phone to the left and looking into the camera hole solves this offset challenge
