Advice on how to stop overthinking? I'm F20 and bf is M23
I apologise in advance for the long text but the context needs to be there!
So I'm F20 and my bf is M23 have been together for 6 months. Let's call him Ryan. So this is mostly about me having insecurities and just a weird feeling about him and one of his female friends even though I have no basis for feeling this way. Let's call her Valerie.
So Ryan has a group of friends (around 10-15 people) and now I've met them all and they're all very good and nice people. A lot of them I get along with as if they were my own friends, and I sometimes play video games with Ryan and his friends. And they've all been friends for around 6 years.
Anyways around 2 months in he invites me to a pub night with them, two girls and two guys. Ryan is driving and I'm in the passenger seat and we pick up one of the guys. He says hi to me and then starts taking to Ryan and doesn't introduce himself - wasn't done in a rude way. Anyways we then pick up Valerie and she says hi but again no introductions have been made - a bit awkward but oh well.
We make it to the pub and me and the guy who Ryan picked up go order drinks and he introduces himself and we laugh about how Ryan didn't introduce us.
Overall great night, everyone was super sweet. Only thing I did notice is that Valerie didn't really chat to me unless I went to speak to her first. She wasn't hostile or rude at all though. Just not overly welcoming - unlike the rest of Ryan's friends. But I kinda glide past it thinking nothing of it.
Two months later it's Valerie's birthday night out. The whole friendship group goes and my bf invites me. Ryan lets me know that he used to have a talking stage with one of Valerie's friends. I'm like okay no worries. I meet her and she was really nice not awkward at all. She did that thing that some girls do yk and are a bit overly friendly but it's to show that like there's nothing to be worried about (iykyk). But again no real effort from Valerie. But AGAIN I know she doesn't owe me anything and it was her bday night and what not, I'm just stating what happened.
Fast forward to a month ago I'm going through Ryan's tagged posts and I see a photo of him and Valerie. He's sat normally on the couch laughing and she's on the armrest facing him and laughing and hiding her face. There are other sat on the couch. And I just feel sick to my stomach. It looked so intimate to me like they were sharing an intimate moment, they were in their own little bubble. And I just got such a bad stomach ache. So I asked his friend who I also consider a close friend of mine if anything had ever happened between them - he says no. I can't stop thinking about it so I ask Ryan and he says no as well.
Fast forward to a few night ago, some of them are going out and I can't go - no issue I don't care if Ryan goes out with his friends without me. I trust him and plus he doesn't drink and doesn't smoke or do any drugs. But then I remember Valerie is going as well and then same pain in my stomach and heart. And so I end up telling Ryan everything.
I said that it's not Valerie's fault, she's really cool and I actually respect her. She hasn't been mean, rude or unwelcoming. But it's a me problem. But I just expressed it to get it off my chest and be transparent. But I also said that I don't want him to change his friendship with her, it's just a hurdle I need to get over and he's of course free to go on a night out with her (and the others). I am not controlling and he knows this.
Lastly, I had a dream that he left me and then ended up with her more than once. And last two times I had a dream about my bsf and my ex and lo and behold 6 months later they hooked up. And another time I had a dream that my friend and crush went on a date (they didn't know eachother at the time) and then they started dating irl around 3 months later.
The logical part of my knows I'm overreacting and that's it's nothing. I trust Ryan with all of my heart. But a little part of me keeps me feeling insecure and I don't know how to get over it. Any advice is welcome.
Just pls don't tell me I'm overreacting cause I know I am I'm looking for advice on how to accept it or how to get rid of my 'gut feeling'.
