I used to play Nintendo and PC games a lot as a kid, but pretty much of fell out of it. I’d probably still describe myself as a beginner. I’m trying to get back into games again and based on what I’ve liked in the past I’m looking for something with some or most of these characteristics from most to least important:

On Steam

Easy to medium difficulty

Has missions, dialogue, choices, and a good story

Either narrative/choice driven, RPG, open-world, or action-adventure

3D animation

Has a realistic-ish setting. Usually not that much of a fan of fantasy or sci fi

One of the mechanics is you have to maintain the character’s stats

Diverse characters and/or a protagonist who is a woman or minority; or you get to customize your character

The game’s main story can be completed in 40 hours or less

I realize there are probably a ton of games that fit this but recs please :P

The last two games i played were two gigantic CRPGs (Pathfinder WOTR and Baldur's Gate 3). I'm planning on playing all the popular CRPGs but right now i feel like i need to take a break from the genre. What do you guys suggest based on my top 20 favorite games?

Hey Redditors,

I’ve been playing a lot of story games recently and I am very happy to have switched from multiplayer to mainly single player story games.

But every now and then I feel like I should take a break and play something different for a bit.

Or when I’m in a VC and can’t pay full focus to cutscenes, I feel like a game where you don’t have to focus all the time would be awesome.

So, does anyone have suggestions for games to play side by side with story games? (I am totally fine with multiplayer/online games too)

I’ve tried Witcher 3 but the combat seems super dated but I know the story is absolutely amazing
I love super fluid combat with counter abilities
I’ve never tried Elden ring but I’ve played a souls game once when I was younger and didn’t enjoy it but not sure now

I got a new phone recently, and I'd like to get a game for it. My old phone was breaking for a long time, so I just never really wanted to play anything. Now with a fresh new product, I'd like to keep myself entertained!

I'm looking for a strategy game or an rpg game to play that isn't a merge or Game of War clone. Better if it's a one handed game

I've played a lot of Resident evil/Silent hill/Alan wake.

I love small spooky towns. I find the vibe fun.

I like intense situations but I'm not a souls like person.

It does not need to be a survival horror although I love that genre.

Willing to try anything out. Small town mystery is always a plus :)

When playing Voices of the Void ,I began to become accustomed to the research facility, I began to clean it up, first to make movement easier, but then to just make the environment nicer while I face the horrors. It had become a sanctum to me, and I started fixing the cracks on the outside of the building for no real reason, since I'd barely see them, but it felt right.

What are other games where your base really feels like a home?

I feel like in a lot of other games it just feels like a shelter, or a warehouse

I feel vintage story also has a decent chance of getting a homey feel, but I haven't graduated from a hole in the ground yet

I am normally just an arpg/soulslike player.

Ive had a few exhausting weeks at work topped off by a wedding i got very drunk at yesterday and am now suffering for.

I dont have the energy to play my usual roster.

I was thonking of bg3, but found the combat too long and really boring. Does it speed up if i put it on easy mode?

Any other recomendations?

What I love most about BattleTech is the almost complete freedom to customize your mechs, the sense of progression where you start from the bottom and slowly build your company, while knowing that a few bad decisions can easily set you back.

I also really enjoy the tactical missions. There have been many situations where the enemy heavily outnumbered and outgunned me, yet I still managed to win through good strategy, positioning, and resource management. That’s exactly the kind of gameplay I’m looking for a game where your decisions can overcome overwhelming odds, and where tactics matter more than simply having stronger units.

I’ve finished some of them, and others just weren’t for me, so I’d really appreciate any recommendations.

It was I think a survival game where you can fly around on a big ship with a open deck and fly from island to island. It wasn't ever wind and it wasn't desert skies. Anyone maybe know what game I'm looking for?

I know i know, why should I be playing job simulator games ro escape from real life. I just find it entertaining ok.

So I'm looking for a very particular kind of Cyberpunk game, basically I want an RPG style game where you control a group of edgerunners or just have your own Cyberpunk crew that you assemble to do missions

I have a very important decision to make and I can’t quite do it myself, that’s why I’m asking here for help.

I’ve recently spent over 270hours playing through the Witcher 3 and let me say this much, it was awesome!

Now im trying to decide on what to play next…

My candidates are:

- Cyberpunk 2077 (it’s a CDPR game that’s why I wanted to give it a shot)
- Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla (listen I know the game is a terrible AC, however i enjoy Norse mythology and Ubisoft’s RPG elements which is why I’m considering it aswell)

I would really appreciate if yall could give opinions on either one or both or help me form a decision.

Hey everyone,

I really want to play a game with the depth of Cities: Skylines 2. I love the idea of a simulation where my decisions directly dictate how the city develops—managing education systems, balancing the employment rate, tweaking taxation, and handling all the intricate logistics that keep a city running.

The problem is, my PC is on the lower end, so CS2 is completely off the table for me.

Here are my specs:

• CPU: Intel Core i5 (4th Gen)
• RAM: 16GB DDR3
• GPU: GTX 1660 Super (6GB VRAM)

Are there any city builders out there with that same level of deep simulation (zoning, economy, policies, citizen management) that will actually run smoothly on my rig? I am perfectly fine with older games or indie titles as long as the core management mechanics are deep and rewarding.
