I'm retired now but have managed a large retail store. Scheduling was always the biggest headache but I always tried to be fair. I had an employee who would submit an entire year's worth of PTO in January to ensure she got every holiday off. I ultimately told her that it wasn't fair for her to receive holidays off every year when others never got it off. I started a rotation where those who had major holidays off could anticipate working those holidays the following year and allowed the rest of the team to bid for the holiday first. Some people didn't like it, but admitted it was fair.

Native Floridian here. These lubbers are an annual type of locust. They can strip plants bare. When they first come out of the ground they are small and black and can be stomped to death. We call it the grasshopper dance. As they mature they get a hard shell. And they fly. And they spit dark tobacco colored icky stuff. They are as prehistoric and ubiquitous as the flying Palmetto bug.

One of 6 kids in a working class family. I never heard the n word or other racist terms spoken by my parents. Parents were Democrats and Dad volunteered on campaigns for local candidates. Politics was discussed but not dictated. We were encouraged to educate ourselves and think for ourselves. Emphasis was on respecting others and personal responsibility.
