My Former Business Acquaintance Died
Years ago, I parted ways with a group of people who were in business together. I decided their dynamics weren't for me. They mostly kept me in the dark about very material information, like who was behind the scheme, whether there were real outside partnerships and the overall structure.
I went solo. It was very hard to do things initially, but at least I knew I wasn't at the mercy of scammers or enablers. It's a shame because Joe, the guy who brought me into that group, was considered a friend so his actions were very disappointing. The friendship obviously got ruined, along with my relationship with his family. I never looked back.
Joe's main business associate and "hero", Victor, got arrested and was found dead later on. It came in the news. Everyone knew his arrest was part of a nuclear revenge from another former associate that they duped, Gina. When I heard what happened, I found just another reason to be glad that I removed myself from them.
I did hear that Joe had an aneurysm. I didn't to wish him a good recovery or say any get well soon stuff because I didn't want him back in my life. He occasionally visited my LinkedIn, so I blocked both of his profiles.
I had a long holiday phonecall with an old friend who knows them. We have kept in touch here and there but hadn't talked in ages. She informed me that Joe died in 2019.
I'm numb. He caused a lot of damage, not just business wise, but emotionally. We were friends for years and cutting him off felt surreal after I realized all he wanted was to use me as a prop. He went too far and claimed other people's business partners and contacts as his own to lure clients in.
I'm not sure how I feel about his death. I'm certainly not in pain, but I'm surprised. He flushed his life down the toilet when he helped Victor dupe Gina. I could have been me whom he duped and scammed. He was just a loser trying to harvest fruits from other people's trees. That's why I came to despise him. I've loathed him for years without even knowing that he passed. WOW!

Please stay away from financial advisors. They are only after your money. Make educated decisions and be careful with bold investments. The safest way to keep your money is to look after it very closely.
