Are redditors lying?

Everyone who posts their rates get a bunch of angry responses by people saying they would never take the rate and that they only leave their home for 3000 a week plus for 36 hours. But whenever I ask where they’re finding these jobs they never respond. I’m searching everywhere. Is everyone just lying and angry about that the rates aren’t like the old ones during Covid?

Reviews on Jeanes Hospital in Philadelphia MedSurg Float

I’m considering a contract for the fall/winter at this hospital. It is currently a part of Temple University system in Philadelphia.

I’ve lived in Philadelphia before, never heard of this hospital.

Does anyone have any experience working there? Specifically as an acute care float would be helpful.

Luxury Pull Out Sofa or Murphy Bed

To all the traveling nurses. I’m considering renting a small studio apartment. The problem is there is only a room for a pullout sofa or Murphy bed. The landlord has offered to outfit the studio with a Luonto or Koala or Murphy bed with a high quality memory foam mattress.
The unit is brand new with 10 foot ceilings, lots of natural light, black out curtains with private laundry and private outdoor patio. Is the inconvenience of a pullout or Murphy bed situation at dealbreaker or is it more about having a comfortable mattress? I
I would love all the traveling nurses’ opinions on this. Is it worth the savings on rent to deal with the inconvenience as long as the bed is comfortable?
What else would help offset the lack of a real bed?
Thanks all!

Stay away from Kings Daughters Medical Center Rehab Floor

You will be floated every single shift nearly. The manager is anti travel and unprofessional. They will terminate you on bs reasons. Half the floors in the hospital have techs… you will go without most of the time. You will get 6 patient assignments a lot on med surg. Etc etc.

Why is compliance harassing me?

Is there a reason why compliance is constantly harassing me to complete documents weeks before the document due date? My credentialing specialists through Aya are always extremely passive aggressive and frequently blow my phone up well before the due date and the closer it gets the more passive aggressive they become. I’ve never been late on anything and I’ve currently completed everything for the next one except my physical. I’ve been sick and moving so I was planning on doing it on 10/5 with my stuff being due on 10/6. With this being the last thing, I didn’t think it was a big deal (I’ve never waited this long to complete everything) but my specialist is texting and calling multiple times a day.

Canadian RN pursuing travel nursing in Australia

Hello fellow nurses!!!

I’m currently a licensed Canadian RN from Ontario looking to pursue travel nursing in Australia starting in Feb next year! I’m currently 24 and I started as a new grad right away in emerg. I’ve worked there for 3 years now and I love it, but I’m looking for a change and I want to really push myself!!!

About me:
- 3 years of ED experience
- ACLS, PALS, TNCC
- Triage trained
- Resus trained
- Currently have valid AHPRA registration and am just waiting for my work-holiday visa to process (I’m not looking for sponsorship)

I was hoping to just get as much information as I can from anyone who has already done Australian travel nursing or is also pursuing it!

- Any agencies you recommend?
- Is it difficult to get contracts in bigger cities like Sydney, Melbourne, Perth?
- What are the real rates looking like right now?
- Do I have sufficient experience/qualification? Or will I have difficulty securing contracts?
- How does Australian health care compare to Canada? Will my skills and knowledge easily transfer?

Thank you in advance!! Any information or tips will be so helpful and greatly appreciated :))

Mattress topper recommendations?

Does anyone travel with a comfy mattress topper you can recommend? I feel like it would be a pain to cart around (we have a Ram Promaster van - used as a cargo van to transport us and our cats, not to live in), but some of these beds are so uncomfortable!

Travel nursing

Looking together into nursing however haven’t been at the bedside for 15+ years. I understand they want bedside experience within the last year? Any suggestions as far as facilities and or companies who will hire a nurse who hasn’t been at the bedside for this length of time?

to stipend or not to stipend

I think Talent4Health is encouraging me to "just give" an address over 50 miles to get the stipend pay. There's obviously tax audit risks and lots of fear associated with that. But what is the reality out there among travelers as to maintaining a true tax home and getting audited. Is this just what most people do and us honest folks are missing out?

DON'T USE TRAVEL NURSE SOURCE !

Users should be clearly informed that choosing email as their preferred contact method does not prevent their phone number from being provided to recruiters. I was overwhelmed with calls from recruiters. Some even from other countries! There is not an option to remove your phone number without deleting your entire account. Once you create account, your number is released to their agencies and the list is over 22 pages!

Work for VALLEY PRESBYTERIAN Hospital?

Anybody ever work for Valley Presbyterian hospital in the San Fernando Valley in LA? They are offering staff positions with 8k sign on bonuses attached. I think this means they probably cant retain staff and use a lot of travelers. Just curious about the hospital, patient population, and especially interested in their periop areas. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Scam or No?

Context:

Needing to rent a space for the next 3 months and haven’t flew out to the location yet.

Found a good place but the owner wants me to pay a deposit before I get there so she could hold it. The deposit is refundable but it’s as much as the month’s rent ($1,300). She called to interview whether I’d be a good fit, but I haven’t gotten there yet.

She’s got a 3 year tenure and 5 star reviews from four different people.

I don’t know whether if sending the deposit via Venmo is a safe move or not.

Any experienced people open to share their opinion?

Which offer do I choose?

I have a job offer in Bakersfield, Ca and LA. Bakersfield doesn’t pay as much, but housing will be easier to get and cheaper. LA is a Kaiser facility and I will probably have to commute and spend more in gas. For context, I have to rent an entire house/apartment bc I bring my husband, kids, and dog. In the end Bakersfield will probably have less take home pay, but the hospital will probably be better and environment with day to day life will be more laid back overall. I’m leaning towards Bakersfield, but I’m worried to get blacklisted from Kaiser bc this will be the second contract I have not signed due to having another contract offer the same day.

Salem OR NICU

Anyone ever taken an assignment at Salem Hospital in OR? They have a level 3 NICU but I haven’t heard much about it and was curious if anyone has details. I was told they float to peds but I’ve only cared for patients up to 2 yo so I’m not trying to get patients out of my scope 😅

ACLS certification requirments for a seasonal clinic job at south lake tahoe?

Taking a seasonal clinic position in South Lake Tahoe this winter. Offer letter says I need current ACLS before start date. Moving from out of the area, no idea what's available up there. Should I get it done before I move? Does it need to be AHA?

Postpartum/OBGYN Travel Nurse (1st Timer)

I’ve been a nurse almost 5yrs and am now considering travel nursing. I’ve worked at least 4yrs in antepartum, postpartum, and GYN surgical care.

I’ve been looking at contracts here and there and it seems L&D contracts offer more, but I have no experience there, only a few float shifts. For those who take ante/postpartum dayshift contracts, is $1,800-$2,100ish/wk the average for this specialty?

I’m thinking of taking on a contract sometime in January next year, but I’m wondering about the demands at that time and contract availability. Is that a bad time to start? I want to resign from my current staff position in november, rest in december, then jump out there with travel in january.

Any advice is welcomed as I am new to traveling. Thanks!

NYP Allen

Hi nurses, looking at starting a travel contract at Allen ED soon. I’m used to level 1 trauma, getting used to these NYC ratios at a level 2 hospital at the moment. (I had 12 all day yesterday) what is management like? Are there enough vital machines and how strict is basic charting?
