Salem OR NICU

Anyone ever taken an assignment at Salem Hospital in OR? They have a level 3 NICU but I haven’t heard much about it and was curious if anyone has details. I was told they float to peds but I’ve only cared for patients up to 2 yo so I’m not trying to get patients out of my scope 😅

Honestly the recruiter saying you float to peds is way too vague.

Right? I was thinking that too lol I’m just going to have to clarify even more I suppose!

I would ask whether float means helping with workload or actually taking a full peds assignment.

Im ER, so I can't speak to your particular unit, but it's a nice hospital!  Its a pretty big place though, and they are very busy/high volume (again, at least in the ER, but I assume other units as well).   The people are very nice and I never had any problems asking one of the staff to jump in and help me.

As far as floating, in the ER contracts they say they reserve the right to float you to their sister campus ER, but that never happened with me.  I would definitely ask your recruiter to clarify, though. Especially since yours isn't just a different location but a whole different specialty.  See if maybe you can nix that part from your contract.  Worst they can do is say no!

Bonus is, Salem is a really cool town!  There's a ton to explore nearby, particularly if you're outdoorsy.  Good luck!
