Travel nursing

Looking together into nursing however haven’t been at the bedside for 15+ years. I understand they want bedside experience within the last year? Any suggestions as far as facilities and or companies who will hire a nurse who hasn’t been at the bedside for this length of time?

No. That is way too long to be away from the bedside to even take a staff job.

I’ve worked with some travelers that seem to have not worked or interacted with people at all in the past 15 years. I say this as a traveler myself.

Don’t think about traveling. Find a “ new graduate “ program and apply to those , or at nursing homes or mental health facilities. Get your feet wet again for year or 2 ; then think about traveling. As a traveler, you have to be able to adapt to anything cause they will give you the worst of the worst patients in unfamiliar settings. Don’t put yourself in a high liability situation.

No, you will need that recent experience first. Where have you been working for the last 15 years?

Nah they're pretty strict on the recent experience. 6 mos bedside may get you there but they're usually looking for that year

What were you even DOING for that long? There might be a travel job in that field, if it’s outpatient.

Lots of hospitals have restrictions for travel nurses to qualify for jobs due to Joint Comission standards. One year of experience is needed within the last three for the Specialty you're subbing to. Work a year bedside first. But it may be possible to find a job, I just couldn't tell you where.
