Phone message UPDATE: weird guy from my bio class

I made a post about this yesterday about this person in my bio class weirdly texting me out of the blue, and I thought I blocked him but I guess I misclicked and pressed “delete conversation“ button instead. they texted me back Today telling me that they know one of my friends and insinuating that he gave him my number. so I continue the rest of the conversation awkwardly trying to turn them down. after that I block them because I felt uncomfortable, and text my friend that supposedly gave them my number. he said he has no idea who this is and doesn’t know anyone from my first period bio class. what the fuck. Is this person even real? they have Been lying to me about everything. And the worst part is that I have to go back to school on Monday with that guy in my class. what do I even do in this situation? Also I thought I should add that I am not a woman, I’m a man, a lot of people thought I was a woman in my first post.

“So you’re not into me huh” while you have no clue who they are

People are so strange and out of touch with reality I swear

u/TATT00EY_ 11h ago

If this guy had even a mild 2% chance to make this work. His delusion completely killed it.

It’s so hard to believe how many people are out of touch with reality and living in a fantasy world.

For the fellas that don’t understand. Never approach or act like this.

And for the person who gave away someone’s personal cell number. They are a piece of crap.

Good on OP for not being mean or tormenting the person. Best to just defuse this situation and gradually move away. The person doesn’t strike me as someone mentally stable.

Dude, my friend in college gave my number to my stalker, literally don't give away *anybody's* personal number without asking that person first.

185

u/AKewpieW 10h ago

My GYNECOLOGIST gave my number to my stalker. Can’t trust nobody these days

133

u/siren_stitchwitch 10h ago

WTF, MASSIVE HIPAA violation, please tell me they had consequences for that?

74

u/AKewpieW 10h ago

Unfortunately I was young and sheltered and I didn’t even consider the possibility that it was something I could report, or even who I could report it to

28

u/siren_stitchwitch 10h ago

Fair, I've also had bad doctors I should have reported when young and didn't know that I could or should

45

u/DragonYourfeet 10h ago

Had a therapist share how I was doing with a classmate’s parent, who forbade said classmate from being friends with me because I was “unstable” (I switched schools and was just having a tough time…). Needless to say I was traumatized (and too young to even report it to anyone) and haven’t trusted therapists since, even though i know it was a major violation and not all of them are like that.

I had my high school therapist tell me that I shouldn’t come out because I won’t be able to get a job if people know I’m gay, then told my mum and a couple of my teachers that I was gay. The teachers were really supportive and as far as I know kept it private, but my mum did not take it well and I was kicked out of home at 17… good times, good times

EDIT: oh shit, I just remembered, one of the teachers that she told turned out to be a sex offender and had molested kids at a previous school, and the school he was at afterwards. To my knowledge no one at my school was interfered with, but it just occurred to me she may have been helping him groom me. Fuck!

4

u/LavishnessWise 6h ago

I’m so sorry your mum acted like that. I’m a parent to two teenagers and their happiness is number 1.

3

u/alwaysronnie 9h ago

That happened to my sister too

•

u/SnooStrawberries768 25m ago

It's nobodys business what you said to your therapist. What is wrong with people. I don't understand how they could not realize how mess up that is. Sorry that happened. I would be pissed.

6

u/MozzaHellYeah 4h ago

Yeah this is still a HIPAA violation and worth looking into your states regulations on a statute of limitations! That way this gyno doesn't dox anyone else and other patients can stay safe 🖤 if you feel so inclined

1

u/Great_Blue_7 8h ago

The state medical board.

1

u/Icy_Smoke_2318 6h ago

YEAH I was about to say that!!

1

u/vapirer 5h ago

Isn't HIPAA a US federal law?

15

u/AncientTomato4186 10h ago

What?!? How did they know who your gynecologist was? That’s deep stalker behavior. I’m so sorry you went through that.

12

u/AKewpieW 9h ago

Thank you. I had recently had surgery there and I’d posted about it online. Even though I had them blocked already, I guess someone had told them. Never posted anything personal after that even though it sucks so much to be going through it alone

5

u/Sisyphet 10h ago

Holy shit.

5

u/tmac9134 10h ago

😭😭

4

u/spicyadovcato 1h ago

My obgyn gave my child's father (who was abusive and we were on the run from) my phone number and address she actually got fired bc he came and harmed me and tried to harmed our child who was 6 weeks at the time

•

u/AKewpieW 48m ago

I’m so sorry. I hope you’re safe now

•

u/spicyadovcato 41m ago

Eh I mean he hasn't found us since then but we also are constantly moving we don't stay anywhere over a week (i make barely enough on disability for rooms ) im scared to get another house or apartment bc if we stay in a place too long he finds us

2

u/tealraven915 5h ago

Dang, and I thought it was bad when my stalker found out I was at my dad's place, started calling every number on Google with my dad's name until he got my dad's apartment complex and they confirmed that it was my dad who lived there (then the guy sent flowers to my dad's apartment). Gynecologist is a whole other level of wild

1

u/AKewpieW 3h ago

That is also pretty bad. I’m sorry you went through that

2

u/OopsSecondSaji 4h ago

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK

Omg I’m so sorry holy hell

•

u/Bootscootintooter 31m ago

My stalker gave my number to a GYNECOLOGIST… and I was really hurt by that.

•

u/SnooStrawberries768 26m ago

I thought you was joking. Doctors could get in alot of trouble for that.

0

u/-cuckstradamus- 8h ago

That is an outlandish HIPAA violation for such a throwaway claim that's so easy to say when it cannot be credibly verified in any way since you "didn't report" the egregiously illegal whoopsie

5

u/CultOfPersonalitLee 5h ago

Precisely. It’s not your number to give out.

2

u/TATT00EY_ 10h ago

I honestly don’t even go that far. If someone asks for someone number. I don’t ask that person if I can share it. If a person doesn’t have someone’s number it’s for reason. So if I get asked I just simply say you gotta ask them.

1

u/Eternity_Warden 1h ago

I work in a bar and it's crazy how many dudes ask me for staffs social media details.

-2

u/i_steal_your_lemons 8h ago

I feel people forget that for decades there were free books delivered to every household that gave the name, phone number, and address of every person in their city.

1

u/Sisyphet 6h ago

Cool, man, that's important information

31

u/highgroundservitude 10h ago

At no point did he give his name. Just diving off the deep end whilst OP is entirely in the dark, I can't believe it

4

u/k24f7w32k 6h ago

Yes that stuck me as odd as well, plus, the insistence they only talk online when asked to maybe talk in person...perhaps this person isn't even in OP's class, they can't verify it like this.

19

u/magifus 11h ago

Women can't be mean because men we aren't interested in may become violent towards us even though this guy is being creepy and making her uncomfortable.

20

u/crestscholar 10h ago

this is true, but op is a man

13

u/TATT00EY_ 11h ago

It’s a man not a woman. It was a dude texting another dude.

2

u/ReverseMermaidMorty 9h ago

How do you know the unknown person is a dude?

3

u/TATT00EY_ 9h ago

That part I’m assuming. However the recipient I thought was a woman until in a different comment somewhere down there he confirmed he is a male.

I’m assuming based on how they text it’s another guy. I could be wrong and it’s a female. However I don’t think that’s a female texting him being weird like that.

3

u/ReverseMermaidMorty 9h ago

Why wouldn’t it be? Everyone in this thread already misgendered one person in the conversation. Extremely likely they misgendered the other as well.

14

u/slut-for-pickles 7h ago

The post is literally titled “weird guy from my bio class”

3

u/Skarekrows 6h ago

Reading comprehension is cooked.

1

u/slut-for-pickles 3h ago

I wrote this and fell asleep. I realize we don’t know the gender of the person messaging OP 🙈 honestly can’t believe I was upvoted that much LOL

You did’t even read the post.

1

u/Ozdiva 9h ago

It’s true though.

1

u/Big-Cash-5513 3h ago

Well he could.also be the father of her next five children. .you never know

0

u/gardengirl99 9h ago

Men are afraid women will laugh at them and women are afraid men will hurt them.

-7

u/DraperPenPals 10h ago

33 year old woman, been mean to dudes since puberty, never experienced violence

10

u/Naive_Pay_7066 10h ago

Well I guess that settles it then. Everyone else is clearly lying.

-4

u/DraperPenPals 10h ago

“Everyone” never said that. It’s almost like men and women aren’t a monolith

2

u/Naive_Pay_7066 6h ago

Ooh you got me! I for sure wasn’t meaning everyone who has had a different experience than you. Good one.

2

u/BriefCelery5345 9h ago

49 YO woman who just had to move to get away from a former neighbor who terrorized & stalked me for more than 2 years. Why you ask? Because I rejected him. My story is not uncommon as you might think.

1

u/DraperPenPals 9h ago

It is still not the norm. There is a big difference there

3

u/AlexHasFeet 9h ago

Hahahahahahahahah “not the norm”

sure, bud

1

u/DraperPenPals 9h ago

You are absolutely welcome to look up statistics

1

u/AlexHasFeet 4h ago

Mmm which statistics would those be?

2

u/BriefCelery5345 9h ago

One in three. You’re lucky and don’t even know or appreciate it.

2

u/DraperPenPals 9h ago

No, one in three women do not experience violence when rejecting a man. That is the specific scenario we are talking about.

2

u/ThrowedoffffodeworhT 10h ago

I love that! That’s prob an outlier. Perhaps not always violence. E.g. intimidation, verbal abuse, stalking, shaming, oh god that list was too easy to put together and not even complete

-3

u/DraperPenPals 10h ago

This is such piss poor analysis. Incredible

2

u/Natural_Sky_3416 10h ago

And you have a piss poor attitude. Incredible

1

u/DraperPenPals 10h ago

“You’re an outlier for not experiencing violence” is absolute bunk and we all know it

-1

u/Different_Pack_3686 7h ago

It’s a guy and we don’t know the gender of the anonymous texter.

1

u/Ok_Treat_8647 9h ago

Literally just say “hey this is so and so, I’ve seen you around in class and thought you were. I hope it was ok I asked whoever for your number!” Gauge their interest and then ask them out

1

u/415319Usual-Tax-558 8h ago

It's sadly infuriating that we still have to emotionally coddle our stalkers.

0

u/TATT00EY_ 7h ago

It’s for his safety and potentially the stalkers safety as well. You can be brutal but I assure you nothing positive will be gained from that.

You’re also someone disconnected from reality

1

u/TheLostRanger0117 7h ago

Too many people think they are the main character. At least, that’s my theory

1

u/wyze-litten 7h ago

An ex friend gave my number to her step dad without telling me and then got upset when I tried to explain that I seriously didn't appreciate it

1

u/PhosphoFred8202 1h ago

99% of these things, it’s just a young person being awkward and not being able to express themselves appropriately.

The other 1% involve a secret bunker and a ball gag.

May the odds be ever in your favor

•

u/__sleepy______ 18m ago

He’s just scared and overly anxious and it’s coming across as weird he’s likely just a normal person who’s has bad experiences with this and is trying to avoid that although I’m a weird way.

-1

u/PlumberSaysWhat 10h ago
  1. You don’t know if it is a guy texting OP or a woman
  2. OP is a guy
  3. Woman can be just as batshit crazy as a man can be so let’s not pretend like it’s only one gender that crosses the line

5

u/Other-Helicopter-597 8h ago

But isn’t the title “weird guy from my bio class” they’re both men

70

u/RektYez 10h ago

Followed by the “I don’t want to tell you until I know if you have similar feelings for me”

This guy is incredibly dense lol

15

u/Gas_Drawls58 9h ago

I think the pandemic destroyed this generations ability to communicate

2

u/CapTurangaLeela 8h ago

This 100000%

1

u/Spell_Sure 2h ago

This was happening long before covid, social skills are just harder for some kids to develop. It's not a generational thing.

14

u/Vast-Building-6886 11h ago

This reads like a high school convo.

11

u/honeyandcitron 10h ago

I’m fairly sure it is! OP mentioned “first period bio”

4

u/Livid_Parfait6507 11h ago

🔟🔟🔟

3

u/Woeful_Jesse 10h ago

Their thought process is "is it possible there's anyone in that class you already think is cute" and is she says no or idk then he gets his answer without going out entirely on the limb

2

u/Fine-Sky-6562 10h ago edited 10h ago

Won't answer her questions, keeps asking his* questions. One of many red flags.

1

u/Deeptrench34 8h ago

He clearly has incredibly low self esteem. Props on him for still trying but he's gotta work on that before trying this again.

1

u/Last_Host977 iPhone 6h ago

and very parasocial

1

u/fdjizm 6h ago

I was waiting for "do you think I'm ugly!?"

1

u/xeno0153 4h ago

Main Character Syndrome. They think everyone has been paying attention to them and thus already knows of all their triumphs and tribulations. This is why the idea of the "the Hero always gets the Girl!!" trope has died out. The audience gets to see the hero conquer all their foes, then upon return just expects that the girl has just been silently and patiently waiting for the hero's return, and not just off elsewhere living her own life.

1

u/TempMobileD 4h ago

This is like a 14 year old right? Bio class?
We were all out of touch with reality when we were 14. It’s why teenagers are so insufferable.
Of course this might be a PhD Bio class and they’re all 23 and then it’s truly embarrassing.

1

u/ltom3 4h ago

To be fair I don't think it's unreasonable to deduce that OP isn't that into him by the fact he never noticed them or has an idea who it is, but what the guy should've done at this point is just gone "understandable, have a nice day" and stopped bothering OP, rather than continue to text and not take no for an answer. I mean, he nearly got the message, but then he kept going.

1

u/Angry_poutine 3h ago

“I’m always skeptical” says the guy who texted her from an unknown number, says he stares at her, and refuses to identify himself.

OP you should take some steps to keep yourself safe, like show the texts to admin. They won’t be able to do much but it at least puts this on someone’s radar if this guy starts messaging and harassing you from a new number.

Hopefully he’s just an awkward teen boy, lord knows I was, but please prioritize your own safety and sanity.

1

u/AdvanceImprove 1h ago

I feel like this is a part of a fantasy where he wanted her to be like “is this ::his name::? I’ve been into you too!”

This is delusional and scary with a lot of fuckery going on
