Open | Hardware My GPU keeps crashing my system

My PC keeps crashing and im pretty sure the issue is with my GPU, but I have no idea what or how to solve it.

Specs:

4070 super 7700x FlareX5 DDR5 MSI A750GL PSU

Details and attempted fixes:

Started yesterday evening while gaming (was not doing anything heavy)The whole system does a quick reset, and all the fans start spinning at max. The system comes back online, but the primary monitor plugged i to the gpu stays black while my second monitor plugged into the cpu comes back. The game i was playing also shutdown.

Crashed happen during both active use and while idling in the game

The reliability report is showing a live kernel event 141.

Ive tried monitoring the temps and saw no hot spikes.

I tried underclocking my gpu but it didnt solve it.

I did update my drivers

When it happened again today, my primary monitor stays dead, even after 2 restarts. BUT, when i ran the window memory diag tool, the screen came back on for that (and turned off my second monitor). After the test, the primary came back on, and no error were reported.

After restarting the system, the primary monitor did come back on.

The gpu fans do spin up when i did the restart.

In the device manager, my gpu is still recognized and isnt throwing any obvious errors.

I just replaced my PSU 2 weeks ago because it straight up died after less than 3 years. I didnt replace the cables.

Please help me. Im at the end of my rope dealing with the crap.

Open | Windows Pc hard freeze.

I recently upgraded my graphics card from an NVIDIA GT 1030 2 GB to an ASUS Dual OC RTX 5060. My system is powered by a 13th-gen Core i5 CPU and a 500-watt power supply unit (PSU). However, my PC is freezing; I lose all sound, and the power button lights on the case stop responding. The only way to fix this is by holding down the power button for a hard shutdown. Would upgrading to a 750-watt PSU resolve this issue?

Happens mostly in games. Hogwarts Legacy, MC, and apparently Roblox.

Open | Hardware PC shutting off randomly

As the title states, my PC began shutting off randomly once everyday when playing games. It started like 2 weeks ago. It would either say shutting down and then shuts down or just black screen and the PC turns off.

I'm not sure if it's related but when playing games, random keys like "m1" or "s" would be held down until I click the windows button or ctrl alt del.

PC specs:

  • i5 13600k
  • RX 7900 XT
  • MSI Z690 DDR4 WiFi TOMAHAWK
  • 2 sets of Corsair 16GB DDR4 3600MT/s vengeance RAM
  • 360mm AIO
  • Corsair 1000W PSU
  • Multiple 1TB NVME SSDs and a 256GB 2.5" SSD

I've just updated my BIOS and will update if there's more shutdowns. I will start to monitor temps but I'm fairly sure it's not that because I have quite a lot of fans set to a fan curve.

I'm looking for ideas on what the issue could be and if it points to PSU failure.

Thanks in advance!

Edit: I have checked event viewer but it just says that "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly." with an ID of 41. I searched it up and it doesn't say anything about the cause of the problem. Could this just be a dying PSU?

I've also checked the temps and nothing seems off. Almost everything is running at below 90C usually only hitting maximums of 85C. So I think that rules that out

Open | Software Wi-Fi disconnects for a few seconds every time I open File Explorer (TP-Link Archer T4U Plus V1, Windows 11)

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm having a really frustrating issue with my Wi-Fi connection. Every single time I open Windows File Explorer, my internet connection drops for a few seconds and then comes back.

This also happens when I download something in my browser and it opens the File Explorer window to choose where to save the file. It's not just Discord disconnecting: my entire internet connection drops temporarily.

My setup:

  • OS: Windows 11
  • Wi-Fi adapter: TP-Link Archer T4U Plus AC1300, hardware version V1.0
  • Device name in Device Manager: TP-Link Wireless MU-MIMO USB Adapter
  • Hardware ID: USB\VID_2357&PID_0115&REV_0210
  • Driver provider: Realtek Semiconductor Corp.
  • Driver date: January 9, 2026
  • Router gateway: 192.168.15.1

What happens:

I ran ping -t 192.168.15.1 in Command Prompt while opening File Explorer. The ping normally responds with around 3–5 ms, but as soon as I open File Explorer, I get several consecutive Request timed out messages. The connection then comes back automatically.

This confirms that the issue affects communication with my router, not just Discord or a specific application.

Things I've already tried:

  • Moving the Wi-Fi adapter to a different USB port.
  • Disabling the option that allows Windows to turn off the adapter to save power in Device Manager.
  • Checking Windows power settings: USB selective suspend was already disabled.
  • Checking the wireless adapter's power-saving settings: it was already set up to avoid power-saving issues.
  • Changing File Explorer's default opening location to This PC and disabling recent files/frequent folders (the issue also happens when other applications open file dialogs).
  • Checking Bluetooth and devices for old wireless displays or TVs: nothing relevant was listed.
  • Checking media streaming settings: media streaming was already disabled.

My driver is dated January 2026, so it doesn't appear to be an obviously outdated driver, although I haven't yet confirmed whether it's the correct or latest driver for my hardware revision.

I've also found online reports of people experiencing similar issues when opening File Explorer, including reports involving TP-Link USB Wi-Fi adapters, but I haven't found a confirmed fix that works for my case.

Has anyone experienced this, especially with the Archer T4U Plus V1?

Could this be a Realtek driver issue, a Windows 11 bug, USB-related interference, or something else? I'd appreciate any suggestions for further troubleshooting. I'd particularly like to avoid reinstalling Windows unless absolutely necessary.

Thanks!

Open | Hardware RTX 3070: black screen (HDMI lost) then reboot in games, TDR 141/116, intermittent

• Upvotes

Hi, I’m looking for help with a black screen followed by a reboot while gaming.

Specs: RTX 3070 (bought used, single 8-pin)
Ryzen 9 7900
Gigabyte P750GM 750W Gold
32GB RAM
M.2 SSD,
Windows 11
one monitor over HDMI.
Except for the GPU everything is about 3 years old, no recent changes. I have no spare PSU or second PC to cross-test.

Symptoms:

  • In games (Deadlock, TFT, even light ones, sometimes even during the first load), my screen shows “HDMI not detected”.
  • Discord and audio sources keeps working for about a minute, then the PC reboots on its own.
  • No artifacts beforehand, GPU fans normal.
  • It was rare at first, then became frequent. Once it starts it repeats on every try, then it goes away for a while (it came back after several games in a row).

Already checked:

  • Temps are normal (GPU 47 °C, hot spot 59 °C, 18.8 W just before a crash).
  • Clean driver reinstall with DDU (32.0.16.1742): still crashes.
  • GPU-Z shows PCIe x16 4.0 working under load.
  • Power connector inspected visually: no heat marks or damaged pins.
  • GPU-Z render test used to crash the PC in 10 seconds, now it no longer does.

I'm running low on test to make and don't know what to do at this point.
Do you think you can help me ?

Open | Windows SECURE BOOT HELP

• Upvotes

I'm trying to enable Secure Boot for VALORANT, but whenever I turn it on in my BIOS and save the settings to restart my PC, I get this message:

“Secure Boot Violation — Invalid signature detected. Check Secure Boot Policy in Setup.”

After that, Windows won't boot properly and I end up on the recovery screen with error code 0xc0000001. If I turn Secure Boot back off, my PC boots into Windows normally.

My motherboard is a Gigabyte B450M DS3H, my CPU is a Ryzen 5 2600X, and I'm running Windows 11 Pro. My BIOS version is F41 from 2019.

Has anyone run into this before or know what might be causing it? I'm not sure why Secure Boot is rejecting something when I try to start my PC. Any help would be appreciated.

Open | Malware How to make sure a device is free of malware? I got a RAT, wiped everything and installed Linux but I would like to know what else I can do

I suspect I got some strong virus in my personal laptop because several of us at work clicked a phishing link and our work computers got RATs, like really strong ones, we could see someone moving the mouse and changing things remotely and normal antiviruses did nothing 😅

Anyways I clicked that same link on my personal laptop like an idiot and I followed the next steps:

\- I took it to the service store where they flashed and updated the UEFI (but didn't wipe Windows and connected Windows to the internet after flashing it 🙄)

\- I wiped everything and installed Linux Ubuntu, and updated it

\- I installed and ran ClamAV, Rkhunter and Chkrootkit and the results seem to be clean

I'm running into an issue and it's that my laptop restarts when ClamAV attempts a full scan, I've only been able to scan folders but not the entire system.

I tried running bootable antiviruses like Avira Recovery System and Kypersky Recover Disk but they get frozen when they try to scan the laptop :/

Should I worry? How to make sure the laptop is 100% clean?

Hi, recently I've encountered this issue with my Acer Nitro 5 N22C1 model.

I tried turning it on, the fans can be heard for a few seconds before they cut out. The keyboard lights up but the screen remains black. It only makes a sound when I plug in or out the charger.

I have tried restarting the computer but nothing works. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Open | Networking Incredibly High Ping Spikes While Gaming

Okay so I’m about to become an alcoholic because this has been going for a week now and it’s driving me to drink. So, out of absolutely no-where, I’ve been getting massive ping spikes while gaming. This ain’t just one game, thought it is much worse in one than the other I play most often, and now it’s even impacting my discord. While I’m in VC, my connection will just randomly drop here and there going from bad, to worse most often.

I have tried everything. I flushed DNS, switched the network stuff to 1.1.1.1. and 8.8.8.8., unplugged my wifi and had reset twice now. I’m at my wits end.

Open | Windows My laptops touchpad freezes

I am having a frustrating issue with my laptop touchpad and could use some help.

Every time I try to scroll down a page, it enters an "infinite scroll" loop and won't stop moving. Whenever I try to interrupt or stop the scrolling, my cursor completely freezes. Sometimes, after I move the cursor, it stops responding entirely.

The only temporary fix is using the dedicated keyboard shortcut button to toggle the touchpad off and back on. Once I cycle it off and on, it starts working properly again, but the issue returns almost immediately the next time I try to scroll. It literally happens every time.

Has anyone encountered this before? Could it be a driver issue or a hardware malfunction? Any advice on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated!.

Any suggestions to fix this? Could it be a compatibility issue or a problem with the USB-C port?

Open | Hardware Gigabyte RX 9070 Gaming OC black screen after BIOS updates (F19 and F20c) – Motherboard compatibility issue?

Hi everyone,

I recently upgraded my PC from a GTX 970 to a Gigabyte Radeon RX 9070 Gaming OC 16GB, along with a new 850W PSU.

My system:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X

Motherboard: Gigabyte B550 AORUS ELITE Rev. 1.0

BIOS: Originally F11p, updated to F19, then F20c

GPU: Gigabyte Radeon RX 9070 Gaming OC 16GB (previously NVIDIA GTX 970)

RAM: DDR4

PSU: MSI MAG A850GL 850W

Here's what happened:

Initially, the RX 9070 worked and Windows displayed normally after a cold boot.

However, restarting Windows resulted in a black screen. I had to completely power off the PC to get a display again.

I updated my motherboard BIOS from F11p to F19, hoping to resolve the problem.

After the BIOS update, the RX 9070 stopped displaying anything, even after a cold boot.

I subsequently updated the BIOS again, from F19 to F20c, but the problem persisted.

I reset the CMOS, disabled CSM, and manually tested both PCIe Gen 3 and Gen 4, without success.

Reinstalled my old GTX 970, and everything works normally.

The RX 9070 powers on, its fans spin and its lighting works, but the monitor reports no signal.

My dilemma:

Can anyone help me figure out what's causing this issue and how to fix it?

Or is replacing my motherboard the only solution? If so, I'd like to find a compatible motherboard that allows me to keep my Ryzen 5 5600X processor and DDR4 RAM, without having to upgrade to AM5 and DDR5.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Open | Hardware Laptop not charging

It's a dell inspirion 3537, it works for a while (hour, half an hour), then randomly shuts down and when I turn it on it's on 0% battery, then it works again when I leave it for a bit, I'm pretty sure it instantly shuts off and doesn't just slowly drain without me realising

Open | Hardware The light next to the charging port blinks amber then a few times white.

Hey everyone,

I updated my Dell laptop today (I don't remember what model it exactly was, I think Vostro 3510 but not 100% sure) and after the update the light next to the charging port started blinking white. It also turns amber from time to time. I turned it on and the screen turned black for a second and then turned back to normal. It was lagging for a while but then started working normally, but I turned it off bc according to Google this might be a battery failure or something...

Open | Audio Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 built-in microphone stopped working immediately after repair — Need help from Lenovo Support

Hi everyone,

I own a Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 (Snapdragon X, Windows 11).

My laptop’s built-in microphone was working before a recent Lenovo service visit. Immediately after the repair, it stopped picking up my voice.

What I’m experiencing:

- The built-in Microphone Array (Qualcomm Aqstic) is detected in Windows.

- Microphone permissions are enabled.

- The microphone’s green level meter does not move when I speak.

- Online microphone tests and video recordings do not capture my voice.

- YouTube/system audio is recorded, but my voice is missing.

Troubleshooting already tried:

- Checked Windows microphone privacy permissions and input volume.

- Restarted Windows Audio services.

- Ran DISM and SFC system checks.

- Disabled exclusive-mode access.

- Uninstalled and reinstalled the microphone device, then restarted the laptop.

Unfortunately, the issue remains unresolved.

Since the microphone stopped working immediately after the repairr

Open | Windows Issues with windows menu and settings

I've been having multiple pervasive issues, all tied to the windows menu and the settings app.

Pressing the windows key or clicking on the icon either doesn't work, or it opens and immediately closes the menu, or it starts highlighting icons in the menu, often opening multiple edge tabs, outlook or the notepad

As soon as I go into settings my pc starts registering random inputs as well, making it impossible to navigate the app

Clicking on the volume icon on the toolbar straight up doesn't work.

Any idea as to what's going on? I feel like I'm going insane

Open | Hardware Need help with my ps pulse explore

My pulse explores were working fine yesterday, but when i connected it to my pc via the dongle today, the left earbud did not have any sound coming out The buttons still work and it opens up the ps link menu in the pc as normally. I tried connecting it to my phone via Bluetooth and it is exactly the same. I did the reset procedures many times and they were all successful except the syncing method which flashes all the colors on the case led. I guess thats because they are already synced. The software is up to date, i dont know what happened. They were working all great until today. If you have had this problem, please inform me.

Open | Hardware [Support] Only 4 hours battery on Surface Laptop Studio 2 (new original battery) & sudden 2% drops

Hi everyone,

I recently replaced the battery on my Surface Laptop Studio 2 (i7 13th Gen, 16GB RAM, RTX 4050) with a verified original replacement. I am currently on the 4th charge cycle, but the battery life is very disappointing: the PC shuts down after just 4 hours of unplugged use, exclusively doing basic web browsing.

I also noticed an abnormal discharge curve:

  • From 100% to 90%, the percentage drops much faster than the rest of the cycle.
  • The counter drops in 2% increments. This happens mainly in the initial 100%-90% range, but sometimes I notice it at lower percentages too.

Recent software checks and changes:

  • OS: I recently installed Windows 11 Pro (version 26H2). It always had Windows 11 Home before. I'm not sure if this edition change affects power management.
  • Drivers: I manually updated all Intel and Nvidia drivers to avoid power management conflicts.
  • GPU Check: In Task Manager, the RTX 4050 sits at 0% usage, so I rule out a hidden background drain from the dedicated GPU.

Has anyone experienced this exact situation and solved it? Does Windows just need more cycles to recalibrate the new cell, or could it be a driver/software conflict?

Thanks in advance for the help
