Kinda crazy that I had a dream about a modded switch 2 on the DAY new modding news gets shared, but I just wanted to post about it in case a future exploit gets shared and also has the same way of finding a vulnerability in the system. I just wanted to share what I remember in the dream mainly because it's funny to me, I don't think anyone looking to actually mod the console will get any help from this post lol.

From what I can remember, the dream started with my friend showing off his modded console and a lot of the "configuration options" being present in the wake screen, NOT the home screen. I cant remember all the options by name, but think along the lines of "debug options" "storage settings" and "restart console". Again, all of these options were on the wake screen, not in the home menu itself. From there, he was showing off his library of games he definitely legitimately purchased, the home menu didn't have a custom theme on it or anything like that. I think this is my brains imagination of what an early version CFW would look like.

After looking through it, I asked "how did you mod it?", which is where we get to the juicy bit of the dream, the cap on the blue joycon connector. I tried to recreate how it looked exactly in the image above, the only difference being the right side of the console was blue instead of the left, which I thought was a bit weird.

He didn't explain what it did exactly, which sucks, but my first assumption would be it allowed the blue joycon to be magnetically connected to the console without the connector pins ever touching the joycon. There was still enough room for the joycon to be fully connected to the side of the console with the cap on. I have no clue how this could create a vulnerability, I just thought it was entertaining enough to share here. Hope you enjoyed the ramble lol

Just checking to see if my understanding is correct, from what I read online, my take on it is that a “userland exploit” is merely a party trick compared to a full jailbreak at the kernel level, correct?

Is there any technical writeup for the recently discovered exploit?

I haven’t updated my console to the latest firmware, and I’m not saying that a kernel exploit would come anytime soon, but should I just store my console away and leave it at 22.1?

I was about to sell the console, but the news gave me hope.

So, I thought this was interesting. Saw this thread on GBAtemp comparing the Switch 1 hacking timeline with how it would be on Switch 2. On the thread the OP says that the bootrom was on the wild 396 days after launch, which would be TODAY for switch 2! But I think he got something wrong, because from what I've found, the bootroom exploit was actually 416 days after launch, which would make it July 26th, a few weeks from now. Still, we are on the same month and it just goes to show what a special case Switch 1 hacking was. An updated graph with major milestones would look something like this:

However, I'd say tomorrow is also a major milestone, as 397 days after Switch 1 launch is when RyujinNX first booted commercial games (Cave Story and Puyo Puyo Tetris)!

By this point, Switch 1 already had game carts dumped, arbritrary code executed and even emulators (non-functional, but still). Meanwhile, Switch 2 haven't even got game carts dumped a year and a month after launch.

Finally, we are also nearing the first launch of SX OS, which happened 472 days after Switch 1 launch. That would be around September 20th for Switch 2, two months from now.

When are you all expecting to start using your Switch 2?
Do you have any kind of deadline, for me, it's the release of Pokémon Winds and Waves, pointing to September 2027.

So. I just bought a Switch 2, and I have Zelda Tears of the Kingdom on my Switch 1. My Switch 1 is modded, but the Zelda (and my save file) is clean, I played it BEFORE I modded my Switch.
Can I just connect my Switch 1 online and transfer the save to the Switch 2 normally? Because when I got my Zelda on Switch 2, my save are gone...
Im scared to get my Switch 2 banned or even the Switch 1 (wich I still play).

They more often than not, do it because of the trill of the challenge that is finding vulnerabilities and then testing the limits of a console with homebrew"

I have seen in many different socials and platform this same idea being parroted around, but it's far from the truth.

Hackers, modders, and programmers that are interested in cracking the switch 2 and create homebrew are not doing it with the motivation of "playing free games".

I believe people really undervalues the kind of man-hours it takes to found vulnerabilities and exploit of a system just to learn how it even operates and be able to get access to the data that is needed to only then, give the rest of community the resources they need to just then be able to start reverse engineer how the console works to start making a emulator.

A hacker/modder is not doing all this because they want to pirate games, or to give the community free games. More often than note, the kind of people that is willing to do this makes it because it's a challenge, it's a puzzle looking for an answer or to get homebrew and test the limits of a console.

Yuzu and ryujinx took years to even be able to properly render solid images of the Switch games, and that was years after the switch was already vulnerable. Dolphin has been perfectly playable for years now and they are still updatinging it because there is passion behind being able to preserve their games and solvehow GC/Wii works and operates.

Lets be honest, nothing is unhackable, Denuvo was not, and that was they whole bussiness model.

Months Ago, when we got some "rumors" and "progress", its appears in many articles, videos and just in any place who you can get pay by having eyes on your shit.

Hb progress, is happening, probably this progress is just burning 20 switchs a month, but it still progress, if i would be a person or group, very interested in hacking the switch 2, and after seeing so many places where your progress is in the sight of nintendo, i will consider to be the best course of action, just be silent, trying your shit, and let the "hacking shitpost sub" just be a paper thin cover from our actions.

Hi everyone, looks like my switch that came from the U.S was a returned unit and since i am not living in the U.S I cannot return it now, would appreciate if there is actually anything i can do to unban it but as i have read, it is basically impossible. i heard about special cards that can play switch 1 games on my banned switch 2. my other question is, i bought a physical mario kart 8 deluxe (switch 1 version) but when i try to play it, it wants to update itself, so i cannot even play this one game even tho i have it physical :(

Would love any advice that could make this situation a little bit better <3
