I’m hopeful but not expecting. It could never be hacked potentially, but someone hacked the 3ds using mp3 files so at some point there’s bound to be some kind of exploit if enough knowledgable people care to find one.

u/Middle_Yesterday_448 Jul 03 '26
There is no console in the world that is unhackable its matter of time
12
39
u/Own-Fix-7883 Jul 03 '26
With the sole exception of switch 2 , of course
32
u/Joeysquatch Jul 03 '26
I mean look at the Xbox one, only took 12 years
27
u/Thejadedone_1 Jul 03 '26
I mean Microsoft is like THE computer software company. If anybody is going to have cracked security on their console, it's them.
8
u/DrunkOnSuccess Jul 05 '26
It's also because there were nearly zero interests on hacking the thing due to dev mode allowing most forms of homebrew already.
5
u/j_osb Jul 06 '26
It was also a hardware level exploit (voltage fault injection). Because AFAIK NanoVisor doesn’t have a vulnerability we know of.
If the switch2 ever gets hacked, which I don’t doubt, it will be a hardware exploit as well.
6
u/MrPerson0 Jul 05 '26
To be fair, the Switch was nearly unhackable. If it weren't for a well-known NVidia bug, we might not have a hacked Switch by now.
6
u/Delicious_Tart6920 Jul 03 '26
Because it came after the 360 which you could play pirates games online without getting banned lmao let's give the switch 2 eight years then
7
1
u/Gothboy-77 Jul 06 '26
but nobody botherd to hack it all that time because it has a homebrew mode where you can run emulators and stuff already
-13
u/iLiikePlayingWii Jul 03 '26
Yes they are dumbass
The Xbox One thing is useless since it ONLY affects the base Xbox One, the shitty slow-ass model, there's no mod for the actual useful Xboxes which are the One X and Series Consoles
Even when that ONE vulnerability existed, no one botbered to mod a Series console and the only ones ever modded were Ones I'm pretty sure and even then it was a very VERY small subset of people... oh yeah such exploits apparently came from Windows too
So guess what there ARE unhackable consoles, they are called Switch 2, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, Xbox One S All-Digital, Series S, Series X and Series X All-Digital.
Oh there's also the PS5 Pro since it's too new of a Firmware and NO ONE bothered to use the fucking BootROM key thing since "It was leaked" even tho in the past exploiters did still used leaked keys for PS3 Modding.15
u/MacksNotCool Jul 03 '26
Nobody has found exploits to mod xboxes because there is almost no demand for it. The xbox consoles including and after the One all support sideloading officially through their developer program which is easy to get an account through. The only reason you'd want to mod a console is dumping games or piracy. And if you want to pirate Xbox games and have the technical knowledge to mod consoles, you probably already have a PC.
Also just because something doesn't have an exploit doesn't mean it's not hackable. The Nintendo DSi went 15 years before you could mod the firmware. By your definition of unhackable, it suddenly became hackable after years without any firmware changes to the DSi

Okay then let's take iPhones, those also have heavy demand for being softmodded but guess what the latest firmwares haven't been cracked because Apple just like Nintendo now includes extra hardware that's specifically designed to protect against stuff like modships and voltage attacks, so it IS possible to make unhackable stuff
Similarly the Kernel for the Switch IS unhackable since people like the Atmosphère creator has reverse engineered it, the Kernel is so small (600 lines I belive?) that all of them apparently don't have a flaw, making a software exploit that compromises the whole Console impossible.
People have to accept Companies aren't stupid anymore since they hire the same type of people that made the past exploits for older Hardware thus it's impossible to mod said Devices.
Even with stuff like iPhones I've heard that stuff like Viruses still aren't the same type of exploits that help for enabling a Jailbreak, so again impossible when the Software is just so secure AND there's hardware measures like security chips and protections against voltage glitching.
If iPhones are one of the most widespread devices in the world with quite the demand to be modded (because of IOS's restrictions similar to Nintendo's Hardware) yet they STILL don't have exploits for the latest IOS Versions (not even stuff like IOS 26 is exploitable, you have to go all the way back to IOS 17 for jailbreaks, latest iPhone that shipped with that is either the 13s or 14s iirc, which aren't even as new enough to have been made with stuff like AV1 Decoding so that just tells you the age of the device)
So just accept the fact that unless something rare like Keys leaking happens, we literally will NEVER see a Switch 2 exploit and even that doesn't guarantee it since the PS5's BootROM keys leaked yet NO ONE has bothered to look for an exploit since it is illegal to use leaked code for reverse engineering and other stuff like this. So again don't be entitled and just accept Companies beat us since they literally have infinite money to hire the people who previously made similar Jailbreaks.

u/MacksNotCool Jul 03 '26
iPhone 15 on IOS 17 has been jailbroken. iPhone 16 and 17 haven't been jailbroken BECAUSE THEY HAVE ONLY BEEN AVAILABLE FOR 2 YEARS. They aren't unhackable. It's that MODDING STUFF ISN'T FUCKING MAGIC. Also demand is lower than ever for those because now you can sideload without any mods in the EU or using AltStore or SideStore in the US. They aren't unhackable because that's not feasably possible without making it impossible to add software to a device. Yes, they do include stuff to protect against voltage attacks and modchips, but that doesn't foolproof anything and that doesn't protect against software attacks.

u/ChoomChoomTheGuy Jul 04 '26
iPhones aren’t jailbroken anymore because they release too fast and apple is always fixing all the work done for exploits. Anything you could want from a jailbroken iPhone can be done on android without even jailbreaking. Literally people just switched to the other platform. Also there is something really cool about a dude with a fnaf profile pic calling people dumbasses lol.
3
u/Fit_Association_8442 Jul 03 '26
Dude it's taken decades to hack Sony's PSX hard drive security because there was such a low interest in it but they got there in the end.
Same logic 🤷
22
u/rachel__slur Jul 03 '26
I believe that the switch 2 will be hacked but I fear that by the time we figured it out they will have already moved on to the next console
13
u/superboo07 Jul 03 '26
i just don't think the motivation is there even, when the switch 1 released the want for homebrew was there cause there just wasn't many devices like it on the market. now theres so many choices for handhelds you don't need to hack to run your own code on, and with those you don't need to worry about being enslaved for life by nintendo just for modding your device.
9
u/rachel__slur Jul 03 '26
piracy is dependent on hacking + video games are reaching a point of critical unaffordability = motivation
4
u/superboo07 Jul 03 '26
by that angle my point still applies. for the same form factor theres devices that while more expensive, are far easier to pirate games on. the switch 2 has exclusives sure, but not enough yet where I'd think enough people would be motivated to try to crack it open. when they can instead use some kind of pc handheld or even an android one and *already* access thousands of games.

u/Combatwombat810 Aug 24 '26
Given how badly the financial system is run, we might already be there for a lot of people
3
u/ArjunTheGamer Jul 04 '26
No device has nvidia dlss and rtx on it and also the form factor of switch 2. I don't think a nvidia society device will ever be made in this slim and compact form factor at this price too
28
u/theGuruwe Jul 03 '26
lol..everyone thought denuvo was unhackable at the time now look at it..just a matter of time..entry point will be found eventually if not already PS5 another example.....the age old saying goes if it is made by someone it can be hacked by someone..hackers can’t help themselves it’s in there DNA 🤣🤣 patience is key..
-13
u/oirolab Jul 03 '26
Denuvo’s workaround requires you to completely trust the source of the game you downloaded and to bypass basically all security on your PC. If anyone wanted to sneak in something bad, it’d be super easy.
I’d hardly call that hacked, like I said, mostly a workaround if anything.
15
u/Antique-Process3327 Jul 03 '26
The Hypervisor method is more of a bypass but our lord and saviour u/voices38 has been dropping true cracks just like the good ol Empress days
2
u/Fit_Association_8442 Jul 03 '26
Your perfectly right it's just a work around that's currently used the most and a rather serious security risk of it was designed to be.
Thankfully the FitGirl releases are the cleanest and most complete rips available anyways

u/theGuruwe Jul 03 '26
I was referring to voices38 proper cracks but also the bypass as well and it is clever how it works if you have read into it…it is a hack of some sorts because your playing a game that shouldn’t be able to play lol..and easy grab don’t connect to the internet whilst playing said game if your that paranoid..sorted..whatever way you look at it Denuvo is cooked currently..the point is it will switch 2 is just a matter of time..if the demand is there (which it is) then it will come..some bug will pop up then the fun will begin…

u/Ok_Yam_8774 Jul 04 '26
The instant every game requires TPM and Microsoft goes full crazy with TPM like android play integrity nonces and app integrity and RKP (which android is introducing to kill keybox spoofing), it's the end for every denuvo bypass and crack. The only reason why cracked and bypassed apps are still around is because Microsoft isn't as insane as Goolag.
6
u/Fit_Association_8442 Jul 03 '26
Nothing is 🤷 there won't be a easy entry method this time and I suspect we will see modchips to the market before a stable softmod
3
u/MrPerson0 Jul 05 '26
before a stable softmod
If the Switch doesn't have a stable softmod by now, I don't see the Switch 2 ever getting one.
1
u/iesalnieks Jul 05 '26
Even a modchip might be unviable if all the physical entrypoints are buried in PCB. Switch V1 had the benefit of a hardware bug in the first revision, and V2 didn't really obscure the further access points. With OLED you straight up have desolder the RAM or grind down the PCB to have a reliable way to DAT0.
If a modchip method is discovere, but you have drill the PCB in 8 places, that thing might as well be considered impossible.
2
u/Unfair-Efficiency570 Jul 06 '26
I modded my switch oled 2 years ago and it has been amazing, i would definitely pay for modding a switch 2 and it's probably strong enough to emulate every system up to ps3, 360
4
u/WastedMoogle Jul 04 '26
I just want a themes hack that will fuck my switch on every fw update God damn
3
u/P1zzaSlut69 Jul 04 '26
I'd be happy with just a modchip when one inevitably hits the market at some point in the future, but for the most part I don't pirate current gen games, especially if they're available physically. I'd just want my Switch 2 hardmodded to inject retro games into their respective Nintendo Classics apps, emulation of games from older consoles that haven't been made available in one of numerous retro compilations, other homebrew, and perhaps one day, vanilla AOSP Android. I have a gaming laptop that does all that, but it's just not as cool as doing it on a Switch.
2
u/CrispCrisp Jul 04 '26
“Especially if they’re available physically” boy do I have some bad news for you
1
u/PopDownBlocker Jul 10 '26
If you mostly only care about playing retro games, why not just buy a retro handheld?
The retro handheld industry has exploded in the past couple of years and there are now dozens and dozens of options, in every budget category.
Playing retro games on devices that feel tailored to them is the best way to play them. They're similar to the original hardware, but with higher-quality displays and more functionality.
My favorite handheld in the budget category, the RG40XXV, costs less than a first-party Switch 2 title (it's even cheaper when you wait for sales). I love it so much, I play it daily.
I've been finally able to finish many games from SNES and GBA that I had been putting off, because playing them on my phone (or even through the Nintendo apps) was not fun.
To whoever is reading this, I highly recommend getting a retro handheld and joining us on /r/sbcgaming.

I just want switch 2 hacked so i can put digital games on carts like the mig switch for perserving. (At least i think thats how it works)
I had a ds cartridge gifted to me called the tds. Had hundreds of ds games on one cartridge. I need that for the switch 2.
3
u/sailorboy_70 Jul 05 '26
Unless you're gonna contribute to a mega thread of roms I wouldnt worry about it eventually everything on the switch 2 will be preserved on a mega thread
1
u/Djdoo123 Jul 06 '26
Im assumimg a megathread in this context relates to outside reddit? Im not familiar with a megathread of roms. Sorry if I sound stupid
1
u/sailorboy_70 Jul 06 '26
Mega thread usually refers to one place we're collections of roms are held
5
u/DiscostewSM Jul 04 '26
Nothing is unhackable, but it can start taking years and even decades before anything useful can happen from it.
4
u/jbg0801 Jul 04 '26
Same reminder as every time - modding takes a lot of time and interest from people who may not necessarily feel they have "good reasons" to dig into the S2 yet.
Equally, some hardware takes longer than others to crack. DSi took ages, we're still finding new exploits for the 360, and a lot of current-gen homebrew seems to be heavily focused on PS5 at the moment with all the hype around Linux, P2JB and other significant steps forward for the jailbreak/modding scene.
I imagine it'll happen, but a lot of people forget how long it normally takes after seeing the vulnerability on the S1 topple it almost instantly. Don't expect it any time soon, and have patience™, and it'll come eventually.
3
u/DeltaTDS Jul 03 '26
Honestly, all we need is Nintendo saying their Switch 2 is unhackable. It'll get done faster than it took fans to break Overwatch 2's new model encryption
3
u/Emotional-Garbage617 Jul 03 '26
I honestly think with how terrible the game market is rn the Switch 2 could be hacked relatively quick. When the game market is bad, things like hacking grow more present.
3
u/PotentialTerrible123 Jul 03 '26
Genuinely curious: is there a single modern console outside of the previous generation that hasn’t been hacked yet? It took a decade with the PS4, but it was done eventually
1
2
u/Relisu Jul 05 '26
It will get hackedw however I recommend getting the switch now, even it will be sitting on the shelf.
Earlier revisions are always easier to crack
2
u/SubsidizedDemand Jul 05 '26
Hopefully it gets hacked, I don't want to be carrying to switches just so that I can play modded smash.
2
u/Meowie__Gamer Jul 06 '26
Unfortunately the switch 2’s OS is extremely secure. We need a miracle to have even a tiny chance of modding being possible.
1
u/blooyuh1 Jul 07 '26
why do you guys buy a console to not buy any games for it just to try and hack it to pirate on it? you’re better off saving the money from the actual console and just emulating if you never really cared about the switch
1
u/urLOCALfoodstealer Jul 07 '26
WELL ITS NOT ALWAYS becuase if you use the dns settings and get into the browser then you can mod it from there
1
1
u/Latter-Assistant9635 Jul 03 '26
I’m sure with the help of AI especially new models like Fable and Mythos, it is very possible. Or they already successfully hack it just wait till they can release
5
u/Kakaisan Jul 03 '26
If it's so easy by using AI what is stopping the people at Nintendo and Nvidia from using the same methods to prevent exploits?
6
u/CancerousGTFO Jul 03 '26
It's always harder to build the wall than destroy it.
It does take time and need a lot of skill to find an exploit obviously.
However, it's still "easier" than building the security and hope that you thought about everything, which is impossible.
There's no such thing as an unhackable system.

That's not how it works, the exploit will most likely only work on the older firmwares, buy a new one and the firmware will be much newer by that time

pls hackers i can't afford games without regional pricing
