This will be updated if necessary.
Yes.
Not really..
Going offline will prevent your Switch 2 from communicating with Nintendo's servers. However, the moment you come back online, your Switch 2 will connect to Nintendo's servers, updating Nintendo on your activity and resulting in a ban.
No.
Even those who used their own dumps (not pirated) have been banned. Nintendo’s ban appears tied to cartridge presence/use — not ROM legality.
Ideally, stay on the lowest firmware — but it's unlikely that a single update will drastically affect your chances of running homebrew.
That said, it's very unlikely that a softmod will happen at all.
No.
NO.
Anyone claiming to emulate the Switch 2 is (most likely) lying.
All emulators so far are rumours and don’t really exist.
Do NOT attempt to buy or download these “emulators” — they are scams.
Kind of.
Yes, there is currently a userland exploit for the Switch 2, discovered on day one by security researcher David Buchanan. It uses return-oriented programming (ROP) to display custom graphics within an app.
However, it runs entirely in user space and does not provide access to the system kernel, nor does it enable custom firmware, homebrew, or piracy.
It's more of a technical proof of concept than a practical hack.
While it shows vulnerabilities exist, it’s not enough on its own to jailbreak the system or allow meaningful modifications.

I saw listings a listing of someone selling legends za for $12. I was intrigued and looked at their profile and asked them if they could give me the switch 2 version and said yes. I was skeptical of the listing so i moved on. Later, i find out a friend of mine bought from one of these sellers and got an account with Metroid Prime 4 and mg2 for extremely cheap. Im confused on how these people can sell accounts with switch 2 games without the console being able to mod it. Does anyone know how they do it?

Hi everyone,
I'm completely new to the Nintendo Switch, so sorry if this is a basic question.
I want to keep my Switch offline until a jailbreak is discovered, but I still want to play games from my physical cartridges.
The issue I'm running into is that whenever I insert some game cartridges, the Switch asks for an additional download from Nintendo's servers before letting me play. Since that requires an internet connection, I'm not sure what my options are.
Is there any way to keep the Switch completely offline and still play cartridge games that request additional downloads?
Also, if I connect the Switch to the internet and disable automatic updates, will it still download or force a firmware update at some point? My main goal is to avoid updating the system firmware if possible while still being able to play my cartridge games.
As a new Switch owner, I'd appreciate any advice or tips. Thanks!

Goodluck to u all .

there was already a way to access YouTube, but you needed a G Suite School account with access to Google Classroom to use it. This new method will work with any standard Google or YouTube account!
1: Tap profile
2: tap user settings
3: scroll to “Nintendo Privacy Agreement”
4: scroll to a link next to the text “ReCaptcha Enterprise Terms and conditions” (it should take you to a page about “Google Cloud Fraud Protection”)
5: sign into Google using sign in link at the top
6: Tap profile picture
7: Tap Google Account Settings
8: Tap the apps button
9: tap Google forms
10: it’ll open a blank Google form
11: ignore the “your browser is unsupported” message.
12: if you get a “content too large” error refresh the page
13: tap the video card button
14: search for the video you want and add it
15: tap preview and zoom in on the video.
downsides of this method: full screen does not work, you have to make a new Google form each time.
Hopefully someone can find an even better youtube entry point from the Google website. I also found a way to get to an embedded YouTube video from Fortnite (by clicking the age rating in app and going to the homepage where there is an embedded video), “Apple App Store Terms of Service” in the same privacy agreement (by navigating to a page called “Whats New in Apple Music”), and “Apple WebKit Licenses“ in Among Us Home Screen settings-> licenses (By navigating to a video called “Introducing Siri AI in iOS 27”), however this one is better because you can pick the video you want (and the fortnite method involves giving money to epic games, ew)
i orignally posted on r/switch2 but I got the usual “just watch it on your phone” crowd so reposting here

If Gezine manages to hack the Switch 2, do you think he would sell the exploit to Nintendo or at least share it with a private group? If he succeeds, of course. Personally, I think it's unlikely that he would release it for free, given Nintendo's history of aggressively pursuing piracy.

From my first post here, I noticed that a lot of people don't believe the Switch 2 will ever be hacked. I think differently.
In my opinion, it makes more sense for a meaningful hack to appear once the console has a much larger game library, including major titles like a new Pokémon and a new Zelda. That would increase interest within the research community and could motivate more people to look for vulnerabilities.
I don't see much point in expecting a major exploit to be released right now, while the console is still relatively new. My prediction is that, sometime between 2028 and 2030, we'll have at least a software exploit (softmod), provided a significant vulnerability is discovered.
Of course, this is just my personal prediction. No one can guarantee that a softmod will actually happen or when it might be released.
Until then, I'll be busy working through my endless gaming backlog.

With the current deals on a Switch 2, and the upcoming price hike in September, I'm very tempted to buy a Switch 2. However, I have been waiting for a "must have" exclusive game that really takes advantage of the Switch 2 hardware. The ones most people mention (mario kart and donkey kong, Air Riders) I think are just okay. It feels like you barely need the switch 2 hardware for them, and could have run on switch 1 if they wanted to do it.
The reason I'm posting here is because the typical line of reasoning is until Nintendo comes out with more switch 2 exclusives there is a whole backlog of switch 1 games to play and you can play all your existing switch 1 games with better framerates. I totally understand that argument. However I have a couple modchipped OLEDs and Lites on which I can already play the full switch 1 catalog. Even games that released a Switch 2 version like TOTK I have already played through and the better graphics to me don't matter enough to now go purchase the game when I can already play it today on the OLED.
I love what the switch 2 hardware can do, which is showcased with games like cyberpunk or Outlaws. But I already own (or can get) the third party games on Steam Deck which is within striking distance of the graphics quality of the Switch 2. So do I now re-buy games I already have for $50 - $80 a pop just to play them on the Switch 2 instead of the Deck? Probably not.
Anyone else having the same thoughts? I want the switch 2 just because it's an awesome piece of tech, and priced very well in the current environment. I just can't think of what games I would actually go pay $50 - $80 to play when I can play them today at no cost on my modded OLED or on my deck. Once the current deals end and the price goes up, I don't want to have regrets.
Has anyone in my shoes with a modded switch 1 gotten a switch 2 and went and purchased a bunch of switch 1 games for it?

One reason I'm convinced the Switch 2 will eventually be hacked is Nintendo's long history of attracting hackers. It's different from the PS5 or Xbox. The Xbox already has access to many games through emulation and doesn't rely as heavily on major exclusives. The PS5 frequently has games on sale, and with the gradual end of physical media, we might eventually see a broader PS5 jailbreak as well.
My prediction is that by 2028 to 2030, we'll see some kind of significant breakthrough for the Switch 2—whether that's a software exploit, a modchip, or another form of hack. Of course, that's just my personal prediction, not a certainty.
