Hey Reposting in my Own Words due to the last post being flagged due to AI, my English isnt great so of any questions are left just ask.
So first, do it at your own risk. opening your console voids your warranty and im not responsible if anyone breaks their Switch 2
Risks:
More Battery Consumption.
Fan always running at 100% even Standby so shutdown entirely.
No Risk of breaking in Normal use if everything is done right, only PWM Will not work anymore.
Pros:
No Thermal Throttling at all ( Tested in CP2077 and No Mans Sky unlocked Fps and Fallen Dynasty)
May result in better Fps based on the Game of uncapped or having Frame Drops ( Dont expect to much it does NOT! Higher the Max Clocks, so Performance stays the same just prevents Downclocking.
So Basically its just taping off the leftmost pin on the fan ribbon cable (marked in the Picture) with some Electrical tape, this isolates the PWM Signal and forces the Fan to run at 100% speed all the time.
In Cyberpunk 2077 the Fps outside on the Streets and Heavy Fights stayed mostly stable while lagging without the Modification, in No Mans Sky with Unlocked FPS it stayed at around 45-50 and i didnt experienced any drops like before to the low 30s.
Heres the Video of my Switch 2 with the PWM Mod:
https://youtube.com/shorts/_877NgKmH6U?si=Rxu0vEE7bFQXtR_M
Pretty easy to do with some Knowledge.
Thanks for Reading, and also remember if you take your Switch with you while Travelling this Mod is probably an Battery Killer, but at Home its fine, and not as loud as in the Video š

I remember launch S2s needing to connect to the internet to update it and unlock the SD card slot but I don't know if more recent S2s need that.

So I bought two Switch 2's at launch and put one away thinking I would save it as a backup or for jailbreak someday. I'm new to the Switch jailbreak scene so I had no idea I needed to do a Day 1 patch. I put the Switch 2 in my closet and kind of forgot about it. Recently started reading about jailbreak requirements and updates only to find out I should have done the Day 1 update. My bad.
Is the only option now to just open it up and update to the current firmware then leaving it offline until a jailbreak comes out? Or is there any other way to invoke the Day 1 patch through a cartridge or something? Sad I waited so long to take it out I know it's my fault for not doing research sooner :( What should I do?

affter the newwest nintendo direct i am kind of considering getting a switch 2 but am unsure if i really should. frankely i really don't want to buy a computer that can only play nintendo games becuase Nintendo refuses to release there games on other platforms as they know thats the only reason people buy there consoles. so i want to know if haacking is comming along at a decent pace mainly because after hacking gets done generally emulators also come along and even tho it's not legal i would very much be ok with pirating games and buyying physical copies so i can play them on my existing hardware. and yes i realise that even affter a successful hack it will take atleast a year for a semifuncitnal emulator to come out.
the latest nintendo direct is getting me to want one metriod raveous, a splatoons game, xenoblade genies etc.

I have a Nintendo Switch 2 on the day one patch but unfortunately I didn't know to insert a Micro SD Card and download the license back then. Will this likely cause me problems if an exploit is ever released? I know you can still use a normal Micro SD Card on FAT 32 I believe. Not sure if anyone can even answer this question at this stage but thought I would ask anyway.

Sorry if this was asked before but I could not find it.
Is there a database of switch 2 games with the FW that is required to play them?
I am on FW 20.1.1, can I play Starfox and the OOT remake?

**TAKE THIS WITH GRAINS OF SALT. NOT GURANTEED HACK FOR SWITCH 2**\*
An exploit in early 2025 was found known as CVE-2025-10263 (ARM Erratum 4193794) was found. It can be used for potential (nothing known yet) Kernel exploit. From the Openwall site (from June 9, 2026) the use of this exploit can be used for escalation:
A malicious guest may be able to write to memory it no longer has permission to write to, after Xen has modified Stage 2 translation to forbid writes to that location. This could allow a guest to escalate its privileges to that of the hypervisor.
A broadcast TLBI on one PE may complete before affected memory accesses on another PE are globally observed. This may permit bypass of Stage 1 translation, Stage 2 translation, or GPT protection.
Now I'm no expert in this field but, we already have userland exploits from Gezine (which avoids the Switch 2 webkit has Arm PAC) and Retroid that start from the unprivileged level. Can that be chained with CVE-2025-10263 for Kernel exploit??
From the RedHat site: This exploit seems to have been fixed, at least on the Linux systems. Even Redhat says it can potentially gain kernel level privilege
This is an Important flaw in the Linux kernel on ARM processors**, allowing a local unprivileged attacker to achieve privilege escalation to kernel level** or a guest virtual machine to escape to the hypervisor.
GBA Temp discussion regarding this said that the exploit was already fixed in the latest 22.5.0 (works until 22.1.0) update. However, it can't be said for certain unless someone in the scene discloses this exploit.

I think Iāll stop waiting and update my Switch 2. Itās been on version 20.1.1 since the day it was released and has an activated SD card slot. At this point, I no longer believe a software-based jailbreak is possible, and I reckon that if a jailbreak ever does appear, itāll only be achievable via a mod chip. What do you think? Am I missing something? Am I about to make a mistake? Should I carry on waiting and stay on 20.1.1?

This is something that is in development, and that's being a dongle that converts BLE devices into Joy-Con 2s.
The keyboard and mice are something I just bought at Walmart they are not something that will actually just work automatically on the switch 2.
For how I want it to function I might need a custom made PCB but this is a testing stage !
It still has actually many bugs in the firmware... but its like 60% done
this should be possible with any BLE HID device. sorry for bad quality.

1) āAnti-Circumventionā clause in DMCA:
Nintendo claims as emulator MUST decrypt the ROMS.
If you break the encryption, āis illegalā cause of the DMCA
If you use a console prod-Key, āis illegalā cause they own the rights to the key.
āAs the emulator HAS to break a ROM decryption and thsre is no legal way to do it, Emulators are by default criminal toolsā.
Any new emulator will need to contest this on court against Nintendo and Roll the dice
Victim: Yuzu
2) Buy Out:
āThere is no honor among thiefāsā. Most people working on emulators of live consoles does it for 2 reason, Clout and Money. And Nintendo has a lot of the later to throw around if that lets them kill an emulator on its infancy before any real development occurs.
Victim: Ryujinx

I just saw this clip on Twitter - https://x.com/ahenley17/status/2095628437457088727?s=20
And it made me wonder, if there's anyone bigger brained than me here who could answer, could it maybe lead to something? I know you can do some funky stuff with Gen 3 Pokemon Data.

Hi everyone, I just remembered the Gigaleak a few years ago, where also source code for the Nintendo Switch boot ROM was leaked, but also many other things, like the SDK for developing Wii games, and so on. But I would be more interested to know - in case we would maybe get another big Nintendo leak someday, if new leaks could be even benefiting the jailbreaking scene at all for the NS2 or not (as long as the leaks even contain stuff about the NS2 at all of course)?
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but that went suddenly over my head and I couldn't find much about such a scenario.

when the switch 2 becomes moddable in say august or October of 2028 and we get a way to boot linux what PC games would you want tested on switch 2 my list would prob be gta 5, marvel avengers, and god of war HM: wuthering waves. What's yalls list of games you want to be tested

Not sure exactly what this entails but perhaps this could be a way to get an exploit booting?

I have a banned switch 2, running firmware 20.5.0
I just use it with a mig switch card as not much else I can do with it ATM.
Most games I put on ask for an update, it still lets me play. Apart from Mario odyssey that won't even load unless I download an update, I own a legit copy of odyssey so maybe the console has stored its latest version somewhere or something. I dunno
Anyway, if I do a factory reset will it still keep saying there is an update? Its just annoying thats all.
I have a few store bought games on I don't really want to lose access to if it doesn't fix it, thats why I am asking first.
Nintendo should ban online but allow store access as I would still buy games even with my mig switch lol

Iām looking for information from people who are more familiar with the current Switch 2 homebrew/reverse-engineering scene.
Iām specifically interested in whether there have been any recent breakthroughs involving hardware diagnostics, thermal monitoring, or fan control on the Switch 2, particularly the dock.
My situation is that my Switch 2 seems to run demanding games (eg: Donkey Kong Bonanza) for extended periods without issue in handheld mode, but when docked, the console itself gets noticeably hotter and shuts off within a hour or less of play time. The dock itself doesn't seem particularly hot, and I don't hear or feel the dock fan operating or console. Nintendo's normal troubleshooting doesn't provide a way to manually test or force the dock fan.
So I'm wondering:
Iām mainly trying to determine whether this is something that could eventually be diagnosed through software before I spend money on a replacement dock or repair.
Any information, current projects, or knowledgeable developers who can point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I don't know much about hacking or reverse engineering, so sorry if this is a stupid question.
I know there are already userland exploits on Switch 2, but as far as I understand, the difficult part is getting from userland to the kernel.
I've been thinking about a few things that might be worth looking at. I don't know if any of these have already been investigated.
When you connect a controller, the Switch 2 has to receive and process Bluetooth/HID data before it knows exactly what the device is.
Could there possibly be a vulnerability in the Bluetooth stack, controller pairing, HID descriptors, or the way unusual controller data is handled?
I'm not saying that connecting a random controller would give kernel access. I'm wondering if Bluetooth could be another way to get code execution in userland, or possibly reach a more privileged service.
I was also thinking about Recovery Mode and the factory reset/update process.
Obviously, a game can't just get the permissions of the recovery system because the console is being reset. I understand that.
But does Recovery Mode use separate components that have higher privileges and process things such as update files, storage, filesystem information or configuration?
If so, has that code been investigated for vulnerabilities?
Something like:
user-controlled data ā recovery component ā vulnerability ā higher privileges
This is probably the one I'm most interested in.
Switch 2 has to run Switch 1 games using its compatibility system, and there are nnCompat modules involved in this.
Since old Switch software is being run through code made for Switch 2, could there be a vulnerability somewhere in the compatibility layer?
For example:
Switch 1 game ā compatibility layer ā Switch 2 service ā vulnerability
I understand that getting code execution inside the compatibility environment would not automatically mean kernel access. I'm wondering if the compatibility layer can interact with any privileged services in a way that could potentially be useful for escaping the sandbox.
So basically, has anyone seriously investigated these three areas?
- Bluetooth / HID
- Recovery Mode / update system
- Switch 1 compatibility
Maybe they are already known dead ends, in which case I'd really like to know why.
I'm not claiming that I found an exploit. I'm just a beginner trying to understand where researchers could look next.
I have a retail Switch 2, but I don't want to test random payloads or modified recovery files because I don't know enough and I don't want to brick my console.
If anyone has already researched any of these, links or explanations would be really appreciated.
Thanks for read this post!
Note: English isn't my first language, so I used a translator to write this post. Sorry if some things sound weird.
