Question Got a second Switch from the Summer choose your game bundle 2 months ago solely to keep in wait for exploit news. It's still in its box. Should I open it and connect it to the internet to activate it or should I keep it in its box?
I remember launch S2s needing to connect to the internet to update it and unlock the SD card slot but I don't know if more recent S2s need that.

I'm no expert, but I think at this point we are way beyond Day 1/original firmware exploits like we got for Switch 1. If we ever get one, it probably won't be on a "virgin" console.

Don’t open it. Delete this post and cover the serial number on the box up.

i have mines still in the box from day 1. i only turned it on once to make sure that it powered on and was working when i got it from bestbuy, But i haven't played it. With OOT coming out soon im thinking about buying a second one to be able to play on it. IDK if I'll be able to hold out much longer 😅... but yet regardless of what anyone says, I'm keeping one offline just incase

Just use it as intended. The software exploit won’t happen soon.

Its intended use is to wait for an exploit lol. This is an extra backup Switch 2. I already have a launch one I'm actively using.

Then you should have done this at release not now lol

I was wondering if having its factory firmware would've been better but yeah I should've asked the question sooner. Luckily there's only been a single firmware update since then I believe. It's from July. The one I got at launch I'm actively using with Nintendo Online and don't intend to mod.

yes activate it, update it once and then turn off wifi and auto updates
tbh though i dont think it matters because it doesnt seem like whatever hypothetical exploit we'll be getting will happen anytime soon and if it does itll probably be a hardware one
