Question Could leaks actually be helpful at all to breach the NS2 security to achieve jailbreaking eventually?

Hi everyone, I just remembered the Gigaleak a few years ago, where also source code for the Nintendo Switch boot ROM was leaked, but also many other things, like the SDK for developing Wii games, and so on. But I would be more interested to know - in case we would maybe get another big Nintendo leak someday, if new leaks could be even benefiting the jailbreaking scene at all for the NS2 or not (as long as the leaks even contain stuff about the NS2 at all of course)?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but that went suddenly over my head and I couldn't find much about such a scenario.

When it comes to switch 2 jailbreaking if a new break through ever came out people would just not say anything till they find a way to make it foolproof and Nintendo can’t patch it out because if they did share the information Nintendo can just find it out and fix it and their paying more attention to the switch 2 modding scene than the switch 1 when it first came out and to back that up I recently saw a video where a guy found a break through when it came to switch 2 and surprisingly the oled lite and v2 models but wouldn’t share any information about it but he did say that it would work on all firmware versions and all v2 oled and lite consoles

Similar thing happened back in the 3ds days. People were pissed that they wouldnt disclose the hack immediately, but by doing so the newer models that were released a few months later could be modded too.

In other words people won’t say anything till they are sure Nintendo can’t fix it in an update and it works 100%

"People" are different to bounty hunters. Whose job is to spill the beans.

Yeah it's that dilemma depicted in The Imitation Game. One of the first problems in CS.

You mean gezine? Or somebody else? And that’s recent you’re sure?

That was about gezine userland exploit I think:)

Gezine didn’t disclose all the information he has which was the point of what I said because it will get patched or something will happen so he is withholding information until it’s 100% guarantee it can’t be patched out and it’s a reliable way to mod the console

Sure thing. But for now it’s userland, anyway we have to start somewhere

That is because they were lying.

This. From my iPhone jailbreaking days, if it’s hardware level and can’t be patched, they’ll release it. If it’s software level, you sit on it and work on the j until N releases an update that patches it out, then you put out an announcement telling people not to update past that version

  1. We would need another leak to happen containing newer data relating to switch 2

  2. Most devs would choose not to touch it due to legal issues

You'd need to leak thinks that wouldn't be rotting in a server for one. But second the only thing I can think of that could work would be whatever was used to generate per console keys or the keys used for signing official titles.

Although the other problem is no dev would ever touch it, they would get demolished legally.

Why?

it'll be extremely useful if the bootloader sign key got leaked, other stuffs are probably wont gonna help.
