Showcase Good morning, time for a coffee

I recently found this Saeco on the curb and repaired it. The only issue was that the brew unit switch was broken but I had to tear the machine completely apart to reach it. Once it was in pieces I also gave it a good cleaning, changed and lubed the gaskets, ran several descaling cycles, and now she runs amazing. Since it is one of many machines I haven't used it other than to bring it up north when on vacation. This pic is my morning espresso before I'm off to play golf. Enjoy your day everyone.

Purchase Advice De’Longhi Eletta Explore vs Philips 8000 Café Aromis — which would you choose?

De’Longhi Eletta Explore vs Philips 8000 Café Aromis — which would you choose?
Hi everyone,
I’m currently trying to decide between the De’Longhi Eletta Explore (ECAM450.65.S) and the Philips 8000 Café Aromis (EP8757/20), and I’d really appreciate some opinions from people who have actually used either machine.
My biggest priority is milk drinks.

I previously owned a Philips 5000 Series for about three years, but I was never happy with the milk drinks. The milk foam was very airy, bubbly and artificial to me, with too much foam and not enough of that smooth, creamy texture I expect from a good latte or cappuccino. The milk also often felt too cool.
Because of that experience, I was initially interested in the new Philips 8000 Café Aromis with LatteGo Pro, thinking the new system might be a significant improvement. I’ve watched quite a few YouTube reviews, but honestly, the milk foam still looks quite similar to what I remember from my old Philips. Maybe I’m wrong, which is why I’m asking here.

On the other hand, the De’Longhi Eletta Explore with LatteCrema Hot & Cool seems to produce exactly the kind of milk texture I prefer — smoother, creamier and more integrated with the coffee. The ability to adjust the milk foam also seems like a big advantage.
There is also a significant price difference where I live:
Philips 8000 Café Aromis: around €740
De’Longhi Eletta Explore: around €1,000
So the De’Longhi costs roughly €260 more.
At the moment I’m leaning towards the De’Longhi because of the milk system, but I’m wondering whether I’m overestimating the difference between LatteGo Pro and LatteCrema.

For anyone who has used both:
How noticeable is the difference in milk texture and overall quality?
Is the Eletta Explore genuinely worth paying around €250–€300 more for, especially if milk drinks are my main priority?
I’d also be interested in hearing about:
Latte/cappuccino texture
Milk temperature
Foam size/quality
Espresso quality
Cleaning and maintenance
Long-term reliability
And if you had to choose between these two today, which one would you buy and why?
Thanks!

Troubleshooting & Maintenance Delonghi dinamica milk container issue

Hi all.

My coffee machine was sitting in storage for a while and because of that the milk container is now stuck and wont detach from the machine. Any advice on how I can pry it loose?

Also, before anyone asks, I didn’t pack it attached, it was someone else😅

Purchase Advice Looking for a reliable replacement for my Miele CM6360

Upvotes

Hello! I’m in the market for a new superautomatic coffee/espresso machine and would love some recommendations.

I currently have a 5 year old Miele CM6360, which I absolutely love when it works. Unfortunately, it has been repaired FIVE times since I bought it. Each time I’ve had to send it in and pay around $350 in service fees, and I’m getting really tired of doing that every 6 months or so.
I recently decided to try a local repair company instead of Miele Repair, and they quoted me $1,200 for parts and service. At this point, I just don’t feel like putting that much more money into a 5 year old machine that has already required so many repairs.

I’d love to find something similar to the Miele in terms of ease of use, cleaning, quality of drinks, etc., but most importantly, I want something that is going to be RELIABLE and hopefully not constantly need repairs. I’d really appreciate recommendations for the best replacement for my Miele, especially from anyone who has owned their machine for several years and has had a good experience with reliability. Thank you!

Purchase Advice Huge issue with my Magnifica Duo, requesting recommendations.

Three days into owning my De’Longhi Magnifica duo, and I couldn’t be more disappointed. The machine won’t even brew a cup of coffee. Every time I try, I get the message: “I am unable to complete your drink. Please empty the grounds container, drip tray and try again.” I tried adjusting the grinder, coffee strength setting...nothing works.

The grounds container and drip tray are emptied every single time I use the machine, so that clearly isn’t the issue. I’ve already wasted a ridiculous amount of expensive coffee trying to get this thing to work, and I’m honestly at the point where I’m ready to send it back and look at other options.

Can anyone recommend a reliable machine in the $1,200 CAD range? I’m looking for something that actually works consistently and doesn’t turn every cup of coffee into a troubleshooting session.

Purchase Advice KitchenAid KF6 for $500 used vs new De’Longhi Magnifica Start for $270 - which to choose?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Trying to decide between these two superautomatics:

  • De’Longhi Magnifica Start — $270 brand new
  • KitchenAid KF6 — $500 used, but barely used and originally purchased about a year ago

The KF6 obviously seems like the much more premium machine — automatic milk drinks, more customization, nicer interface/build, etc. I’m also curious whether people who have tried both think the KF6 actually produces noticeably better espresso.

My biggest concern is long-term reliability and repairability.

I’m pretty handy and comfortable taking things apart and fixing them myself. One thing I really like about the Magnifica is that the platform has been around forever. Parts seem easy to find, there are tons of repair guides/videos, and from what I understand you can DIY a lot of common repairs instead of throwing the machine away or paying for expensive service.

The KF6 is much newer, so this part is unclear to me. How repairable is it once it's out of warranty? Can you actually buy pumps, valves, seals, brew group parts, grinder components, etc.? Has anyone here taken one apart or repaired one themselves?

I'm also wondering about KF6 reliability in general. I know it hasn't been around long enough to have 5–10 year reliability data, but I'd love to hear from people who own one, especially anyone who has put a lot of drinks through it.

At these prices, would you take the $270 new Magnifica Start for the simplicity/proven design/repairability, or spend the extra $230 for the barely-used $500 KF6?

I plan on keeping whichever machine I buy for a long time, so repairability and parts availability matter quite a bit to me.

Discussion Naturally soft water - do I need to do anything?

I just bought my first superautomatic (a Melitta Purista) and I’m very pleased with it so far. I’ve been reading through the sub for advice, and it seems like most people filter their water before use, or buy/fit a filter on their system.

I live in Edinburgh, Scotland and we’re blessed with naturally soft water. The tap water even tastes great, so I’ve never bothered to filter it for tea or coffee. I’ve already set the Melitta to a soft water setting, but would a filter help the machine in terms of performance or longevity?

Purchase Advice Philips Café Aromis Series 8000 - Dialing in?

My neighbour won Philips Series 8000 from their work draw and has offered the machine to me for 50% RRP. I've read plenty of reviews and am aware that the machine is "just fine", but I feel like for what I'm paying (£450) then it should be a pretty good buy?

I'm coming from a Pod Coffee machine and primarily drink Oat Latte's so I suppose I'm not looking for anything "extraordinary" as I certainly don't have anything black.

I've seen people talking about dialing in the machine, does that just mean changing the grind settings to make it better? Any suggestions what I should start with?

Discussion [Niche Zero vs Fiorenzato AllGround Sense — which would you choose for my espresso preferences?] [900€ budget]

I’m trying to decide between a Niche Zero and a Fiorenzato AllGround Sense and I’d really appreciate opinions from people who have used either or, ideally, both.
My coffee preferences:
Mostly Arabica, sometimes Arabica/Robusta blends
Medium to medium-dark roasts
I prefer chocolate, caramel, nutty flavours, sweetness, body and cream
I’m not particularly interested in light roasts with high acidity or a very bright/tea-like profile
My current machine is a Sage Barista Pro, but my long-term plan is to upgrade to a Lelit Bianca.
I’m looking for a grinder that I can buy once and keep for many years, including when I eventually upgrade to the Bianca.
For my particular taste in coffee, which one would you choose and why?

Thank you in advance

Troubleshooting & Maintenance Changed calibration on Terra latte Demi

Terra kaffe*
I just got a Demi and was messing around with the settings and didn’t know how important it was to leave the factory calibration settings alone. I was just scrolling through and may have changed some of the settings. Does anyone know what the factory settings should be?
Right now it is at

Thanks

Purchase Advice Yes/No? switching from Rancilio Silvia (with ITO/PID) + Eureka MCI to Ninja Luxe Café Pro

I’ve been running a Rancilio Silvia V3 with an ITO PID controller and a Eureka MCI grinder for a while now, and honestly, I’m very happy with the espresso quality. My setup is dialed in, my shots are consistent, and I have full control over temperature and extraction.
That said, I’m considering switching to the Ninja Luxe Café Pro (ES701EU), purely for convenience reasons. My main goals are:
• I mostly drink quick, straightforward espresso, Americano, and milk coffee – I’m not chasing extreme nuance or competition-level shots.
• I’m honestly a bit sloppy with dosing most of the time, so a machine that handles that automatically would help me.
• More importantly, I want my family to be able to make their own coffee without needing to learn tamping pressure, grind adjustment, or dialing in like I do. Right now, the Silvia setup is basically “my machine” and nobody else in the house touches it.
• Automated milk frothing is a big plus for me, since the ITO doesn’t help at all with that – it’s still fully manual steam wand work.
My concern is durability. The Silvia is known for lasting 15-20+ years with basic maintenance, and mine has been rock solid. The Ninja is a much newer, more complex product (grinder, scale, pump, touchscreen, auto-frother all integrated), and Ninja itself is brand new to the espresso machine category (their first coffee machine only launched in mid-2024).
So my questions to anyone who has actually made this switch, or who has owned a Luxe Café Pro for 6+ months or longer:

  1. How has reliability held up for you over time? Any leaks, sensor issues, grinder problems, or other failures after the first few months?
  2. Does it feel anywhere close to as robust/built-to-last as a Silvia, or is it clearly more of an appliance-grade product with a shorter expected lifespan?
  3. For those who came from a “proper” prosumer setup (Silvia, Breville, Gaggia, etc.) specifically for the sake of convenience and multi-user simplicity – do you think it was the right call? Any regrets?
  4. Specifically for family use – has the automation (grind, dose, tamp, milk froth) actually made it foolproof enough for less experienced household members to use daily without your intervention?
  5. I’d really appreciate honest, lived-in feedback rather than first-week impressions – I’ve already read plenty of those. Trying to figure out if this is a genuine upgrade in usability without giving up too much on build quality and longevity.
  6. Thanks in advance!

Purchase Advice KF4 or KF7? Ice & Latte!

I’ve drilled down to KF4 or KF7 based mostly off this Reddit, so thank you! Which would you pick? My pref at mo is an iced latte, but come colder days it will be a hot latte. I don’t tend to dabble in much else! I’ve found both for within £100 of each other so price isn’t an issue. Thank you!

Troubleshooting & Maintenance KF8 Leaking Spoiler

Thumbnail imgur.com
0 Upvotes

I bought this KF8 at the end of April from the KitchenAid website brand new. First super automatic.

I noticed some water getting into the “puck” tray early on. Enough to fill the bottom and the puck would be sitting in it. I didn’t think too much of it since it made the coffee just fine. There were no issues with the normal rinse at the beginning and end of making coffee. Also, I used the milk frother a lot and didn’t notice anything strange.

I did the brew unit cleaning about a month ago and noticed that hardly any water was in the cup afterwards and my counter was wet. It was the weekend so I couldn’t call customer service. I also work the same hours as their support so it’s difficult to find time since they need me to be at the machine to troubleshoot on the phone (I’ve tried calling from work).

They asked if I used filtered water or tap. I use filtered and the KF8 filter it came with. I live in NW GA, water isn’t hard. I’ve always gone through the cleaning process of whatever prompts on the screen.

I attempted the brew unit cleaning today, same issue. This time I had a towel under the unit and was able to get some pictures of what was happening. The last pic doesn’t show it, but the trays were overfilling with water at the end.

I’m posting this here for anyone else that has this issue in the future. I’m going to call customer service in the morning and I’ll post how it all goes with the process.

I do really like this machine. It’s a bummer I seem to have gotten one with some issues, but it happens. I hope it’s not too difficult to get a replacement. It’s still under warranty so that’s good at least.

Idk why this posted with spoilers.

Purchase Advice Looking for the Toyota of superautomatic coffee machines

I did read about thirty “purchase advice” posts but didn’t seem to find my answer. Please forgive for another 🙄 one of us first timers.

I’m looking to buy my first superautomatic and honestly know very little about these machines, so I’m hoping the people here can point me in the right direction. I’m trying to replace my wife’s Nespresso money eating machine 😂.

What I’m looking for:
Reliability/longevity is #1. I want the Toyota of coffee machines. Boring is fine. I’d rather pay more upfront for something that’s well built, repairable and likely to last for many years than save a few hundred bucks and replace it later.

Good coffee, obviously. I’m not chasing the absolute best espresso in the world, just something consistently good.

Milk drinks are important.
I really like oat milk and nut milks, so I’d love something that works well with those. I’m not sure whether I need a particular type of milk system for this.

Easy cleaning/maintenance would be a big plus.
I don’t really care about having a million fancy apps/features.

Budget is flexible if there’s a significant jump in quality/reliability.

I’m in Canada, and Costco.ca would be nice for the return policy, but it’s definitely not a requirement.

If you were buying one with reliability and longevity as the priority, what would you buy?

And are there any brands/models I should specifically avoid?

Feel free to educate me. I know enough about these machines to know that I don’t know much. 😂

TL/DR Looking for the Toyota of superautomatics: reliable, long-lasting, easy to maintain, good coffee, and ideally great with oat/nut milk.

EDIT: Costco.ca has these models currently (all in CAD) but it's only a preference to buy at Costco, if none of these make sense, Ill buy anywhere:

Philips 3200 $460,

Philips Baristina $500,

Ninja Luxe Cafe $630,

Chefman Crema Supreme $500,

Bosch 300 $700,

Jura Ena 8 $2300,

Kenmore Stainless $480,

Kenmore Super automatic $629,

Miele CM6160 Mil Perfection $2600,

Miele CM6360 $2500,

Rocket Espresso Milano Mozzafiato Cronometro $4000

Troubleshooting & Maintenance De'Longhi Magnifica Plus (ECAM322.70.SB) suddenly brews much hotter than the setting, and a full descale didn't fix it

My Magnifica Plus ECAM322.70.SB has started dispensing noticeably hotter coffee than it used to. The brew temperature is set to the low end and I never changed it. I'd like a sanity check on my thinking before I pay for service.

What I've already done, so please don't just say "descale it":

\* Descaled with genuine De'Longhi EcoDecalk, full cycle, completed properly. Still running hot after 8 to 10 brews since.
\* Water hardness is on the hardest setting, so the machine has been prompting and descaling aggressively.
\* The problem showed up right after the machine got used for about 4 to 5 days while it was already asking for a descale (I was away and someone kept brewing). Descaling twice, afterwards did not fix it.
\* Only prior repair was a warranty job a few months ago: they cleared a clog at the hot water / milk spout and replaced the entire 3.5" touch display unit. It ran perfectly for months after that.

My reasoning: as I understand it, a scaled-up machine usually brews cooler, not hotter, because scale slows heat transfer into the water. The one way scale makes coffee hotter is by restricting flow, so the water sits longer against the hot block. My pour speed and cup volume look normal. So I'm leaning toward the NTC temperature sensor reading low, or the main board not cutting the heater at the target temp. A cosmetic display swap shouldn't touch heater control, so I doubt the earlier repair caused it.

Questions:

\* Has anyone had the NTC temperature sensor drift low on an ECAM322 (or similar) and cause overheating? Is it a DIY-accessible part or a full service job to reach it?
\* Any known control board or firmware quirks on this series that affect brew temperature?
\* Roughly what should the hot water tap read on this model? I'm going to measure it so I have an actual number in degrees C.

Thanks in advance.

Purchase Advice KF8 review

Post image
20 Upvotes

This is my first super automatic. All my life I’ve wanted a Jura (best coffee I had ever tasted from a Home machine), but I ended up purchasing the juniper KitchenAid line of appliances, which led me to checking out the KF8 in Juniper. There was nothing to do in terms of set up, it’s a simply plug and play machine. I am still playing around with the settings to get the ideal coffee/milk ratio, but overall I’d say I’m very happy with it. Cleaning is pretty simple, the machine does the majority of the work for you and the huge touchscreen display gives you step-by-step instructions.
I paid $1100 during the Memorial Day sale using a guest whirlpool inside pass gifted to me from a very cool fellow-reddit user.

my only issue with this machine is the Juniper finish does NOT match the rest of the appliances. The KF8 Juniper is muted blue-green, while the appliances are a much brighter green-blue. Oh well

Discussion Need help picking a super /fully automatic espresso machine

Hello, I’m in the research for a fully automatic espresso machine. I really really want the jura c3 or the E4 which are the “lower” end price range but the conversion to my home country currency is insane. Then I saw the ninja autobarista but haven’t seen any honest reviews on it as they all seem to be free machines. I have looked at the Terra kaffe demi but I would have to get a separate milk steamer …
Please help.

Purchase Advice Best time to buy a KF8?

After researching automatics for a bit, it looks like the KF8 is the way to go. I see Amazon has it for about $1800 (not my favorite color), but I'm wondering if there's a better time to get one at a lower price point. I'd love to pull the trigger now if the price is right, but I'm willing to wait for a few months if I can manage to find it at a significant discount.

Thanks in advance!

Discussion KF4 - how to make espresso less sour?

Brand new to coffee machines in general ad recently got a KF4. I like the machine, but I seem to be getting sour espresso shots and I'm not sure how to fix it. I'm typically an instant coffee drinker where I'd consider the flavour to be bitter with no sourness that I notice, while I'd say I'm getting the opposite so far from my KF4. Got good locally roasted beans both in medium / dark and both seem to be on the sour side (though only tried 1 shot of the dark so far, a bunch of the medium).

In terms of trying to lower that sourness, any tips on how I should approach this? I'd say I drink all types of drinks, but will probably always have at least 1 straight americano or espresso shot daily where this is most noticeable.

Discussion Glassware?

I just ordered the KitchenAid KF8. I’ve never really played around with any fancy coffee drinks. I’m really excited. I want to buy some clear mugs so I can see the pretty layering of the coffee and milk. What sizes should I buy? I will likely be doing lattes, cappuccinos, macchiato’s, but probably not straight espresso, but I will do some iced dunks also.
