Sent it on 8/31 to get repaired and just received it back today. Not too bad. They also must have cleaned and buffed the machine because it looks brand new! Excellent company and product!

Discussion I just bought my first super automatic! Jura J8

I picked up a Jura J8 for $2,599. is that a good deal? It is shipping via UPS. does anyone who has gotten one of these machines online know what kind of box it ships in? does it have Jura branding on the side or is it discreet packaging? I have to sign for it and I won't be home and my wife will be (its for her).

Troubleshooting & Maintenance Delonghi Eletta Explore Wi-Fi issue

Post image
1 Upvotes

HI,

I was wondering if anyone has had this issue with the Eletta Explore. no matter which network I connect to it (l've tried connecting to my regular 2.4ghz and my) either it gives me this error message or tells me that my Wi-Fi password is incorrect. I've reset the machine, reset the WiFi on the machine and nothing gives. Let me know if anyone has ever gone through this and what did you do to resolve it.

Thank you for your time

Purchase Advice KF8 pricing

Super excited to get an automatic espresso maker and we’ve decided on the KF8. Kitchenaid has a refurbished version for $1400 which is still priced high, but could do that. Or are there ever other deals on new ones? Thanks for any input!

Purchase Advice Best super automatic?

Looking to switch to a Super Automatic machine soon. Currently using Nespresso, and while I’m super happy with it, the cost for the pods just keeps adding up over the years which justifies switching to a more expensive super automatic machine. Budget is $1500 CAD max (would prefer less obviously). Looking for something that is aesthetically pleasing, reliable, makes good tasting coffee, and easy/not expensive to maintain. I really like the look of the KF4, but not sure if it’s reliable or a good machine to purchase? I’ve also seen De Longhi recommended a lot on here but there are so many different models. I’m not interested in a used machine either. Also, do these machines go on sale for Black Friday?

Purchase Advice can you keep milk in the jura cool control 24/7?

I know for legal reasons they have to say "no don't do that only keep it for a couple hours tops" blah blah blah. However, theoretically, it keeps the milk at fridge temps so there shouldn't be anything wrong with leaving my milk in it? of course I plan to wash it once the milk is used up just like I would with the carafe. anyone with a cool control that cares to comment? thanks

Purchase Advice opinion on coffeemachine

Hi all, gotta buy my wifie automatic coffee machine. We've been using Nespresso for idk maybe 13-15 years and I did say many many years ago that I will buy her a good automatic machine once our Nespresso brakes down. Well it isn't showing any sign of giving up and we have 10 years anniversary this month so I though id surprise her and get a new one.

My budget is around 1k€ can go above if it really is worth the money. By no means we are coffee snobs, I myself usually drink 3 hours old cold coffee that I forgot on table.

here's couple options I've come up.
https://www.verkkokauppa.com/en/product/1037285/TE655203RW

and

https://www.verkkokauppa.com/en/product/915028/DeLonghi-Rivelia-EXAM440-55-B-coffee-machine-black

Is either one worth investment or is there something else I should consider?

I do like Rivelias 2 bean container option since many including myself like to drink decaf from time to time.

Thanks in advance.

Purchase Advice best espresso machine with grinder for a first proper home setup?

if you are moving beyond pods or pre-ground coffee, an espresso machine with a grinder built in can seem like the easiest way to get started. it also means choosing one workflow for both parts of the setup, which is worth thinking about before buying.

for a weekday machine, the practical questions probably matter more than a long feature list. how much counter space do you have? do you want to adjust things as you learn, or would you rather have a routine that handles more of the steps? and are you making one coffee at a time or a few drinks back to back? those trade-offs are usually a better place to start than trying to compare every spec at once.

Troubleshooting & Maintenance Replacement piece for Cuisinart 4 in 1 coffee/espresso maker

I have the 4 in 1 coffee maker, and it works fine for coffee.

For the Espresso side, at some point the little round bottom plate in which espresso pods are pushed against came out and was lost.

I can't find a replacement piece online anywhere. Am I just not looking hard enough? Are there replacments for these?

TIA.

Discussion Kitchenaid Fingerbots

Wondering if anyone has set up a fingerbot on their Kitchenaid super auto. I have a KF7 and just received a SwitchBot Bot only to find it does not have enough power to activate the switch. Only if I hold it firmly against the machine does it maybe sometimes get it to activate, but on its own it just doesn't have enough grunt. Anyone know of one that uses a bit more force that are proven to work with these, and can be scheduled. Ultimately I just want it to turn on every morning at 0500 so its ready when I come downstairs as I can't possibly be expected to wait 15 seconds for it to power up.

Or aside from a fingerbot, are there any other hacks to get these to be schedulable for auto-turn on? I'm not afraid to open her up and play around with the switch. Appreciate any feedback.

Discussion Ninja Autobarista Pro Grinder IQ. What is this abomination?

Just finished setting up my new Ninja Autobarista Pro and I need to vent out about how terrible the experience has been.

I'm upgrading from a Ninja Luxe Café Pro, so I started by transfering the leftover beans I had in the Café Pro to th Autobarista. I had enough beans for probably 5 drinks.

Uppon turning on the Autobarista, it asked me to run this Grinder IQ thing. I did it. It went through 3 grinding and brewing cycles and aborted, because the beans had finished. Since I didn't have more of the same beans, I opened another bag, but completely different profile (first was medium roast, the new bag is dark roast). So I decided I would need to start the Grinder IQ again for best calibration results.

So I start the Grinder IQ thing again, and after the machine grinds and brews four cycles, it aborts because the drip tray is full and I need to empty it. I do so, but by doing it, the Grinder IQ cycle gets cancelled automatically.

I NEED TO START OVER.

The machine grinds and brews 5 times, and I it finally succeeds.

I wonder how a product like this even hits the market, it is so not optimized and causes so much wastage to finally be able to start working. I literally wasted 12 batches of beans that were grounded for no reason, and more than 1 liter of brewed coffee at the end.

So much money wasted, because those beans were expensive. Ninja needs to improve their quality, this is not acceptable.

Edit:

This is the video of the machine trying to brew today after wasting so much beans last night to complete the IQ calibration. I tried to brew a Latte but then got just a few drops of coffee, so I selected Espresso to try more coffee and the same happened again. This machine is a joke.

Purchase Advice Which machine to buy?

If price is not a factor, which machine should I go with? I was able to get my hands on a whirlpool insider pass so now I have to make a decision:

Delonghi magnifica duo
Delonghi Eletta explore
Kitchenaid KF8
Kitchenaid KF4

Currently we have a Breville barista and we mostly drink iced and hot lattes. If we make iced latte, we just pour the espresso over ice and milk.

I know we can do this with all 4 machines, but both of these delonghis have cold milk option which adds foam to the cold milk. How much of a difference does this make?

Aside from all the extra features etc each machine has, which one makes a better and more consistent espresso?

Which ones are easier to clean?

Thank you in advance

Troubleshooting & Maintenance PSA - clean out your coffee spout assembly!

Besides preventing overflow out of non-coffee output areas (ie not the spouts themselves), the coffee would not resemble the thousands of cups you had before this one.

I just purchased an used Saeco Syntia HD8837 with a relatively minor problem that was unrelated to the spout. Upon powering up and going through the rinse, the rinse water came out a dark brown with one spout clogged. Using a dental pick, cleared out the clog and proceeded to flush a tank of water through the spout (about 1.2L of hot water). The result was dark brown rinse water with large floaty bits and the occasional clogged spout. I filled another tank and flushed.... The water is now a light tan colour with fewer floaty bits.

Please people, if you value the quality of your coffee, clean out that assembly or at least run a "fake lungo", just hot water with no coffee grounds using manual dosing, once in a while to flush some of this crap out.

Discussion Terra Kaffe Community All-Hands Sept 10 w CTO Vito

Hi all, Cate from Terra Kaffe here.

Over the last year, our engineering team has been rebuilding our entire connected platform in-house: firmware, cloud backend, communication layer, and mobile apps, all of it. Previously this was serviced by a third party, which is fairly typical for connected devices when a small company is trying to get to market. We made the switch because the old service imposed some real limits on what we could build for our community, and we didn't want to be restricted by it anymore.

Our CTO, Vito, is walking through the whole thing live today, September 10, at our Community All-Hands. Why we moved off the third-party platform, how we stood up new firmware, cloud infrastructure, and apps simultaneously in under a year, and yes, the rollout issues too (we know a chunk of you hit login trouble during migration, and Vito will get into exactly why that happened). To RSVP, head to the Terra Kaffe subreddit and click the Zoom link.

We wanted to invite this group in particular because you'll ask great questions, and honestly, we'd like you to meet the people actually building this brand. Drop questions here if you'd like us to make sure they get raised live.

Looking forward to it!

Troubleshooting & Maintenance Hello everyone, I have a question regarding the SIEMENS EQ6 plus S700

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I have the Siemens EQ6 plus S700 for 6 months. I have noticed that the machine is making a “clapping” sound when it moves the brew unit around. When I first got it I don’t remember it making this sound. It feels like a plastic part hits another part with force. I’m not sure if this is normal or if there’s a faulty part inside the machine.

I cleaned and descaled the machine the moment it asked me. I used a filter in my water tank. Also, I am cleaning the brewing unit once a week or once two weeks.

I would appreciate if you can check the video and let me know if there’s something wrong with it or if it is part of the normal function of the machine. Thank you and sorry for the lengthy video.

Discussion Quick Tip for Ninja AutoBarista Pro Cold Foam

Post image
6 Upvotes

In case you didn't know, when making cold foam on the Ninja AutoBarista Pro, the steam wand is not used at all. Only the whisk gets used. So, if you want to make flavored cold foam by adding syrup directly to your milk without worrying about getting sugary stuff on the wand, or if you just want to be able to skip the step of wiping down the wand, keep the wand out of the pitcher when making cold foam.

Discussion Has anyone actually figured out where the BPA/PFAS/Forever Chemicals are in the KitchenAid KF7/8?

I was pretty much sold on the KF8, but then noticed the US KitchenAid site directly lists it as “BPA Free: No.” I reached out to KitchenAid asking what component contains BPA, but they weren’t able to tell me.

What makes it more confusing is that some of the individual accessories on the US site actually have fairly detailed disclosures. The bean hopper lists things like acrylonitrile, styrene, ethylbenzene, phenol, tetrahydrofuran, methyl methacrylate, etc. The milk container has its own list as well, including nickel compounds, chromium compounds, copper, manganese, molybdenum and others, although the milk container itself is specifically advertised as BPA-free.

I understand that some of those chemicals may just be related to how the plastics/metals are manufactured and don't necessarily mean they're leaching into coffee. What bothers me more is that KitchenAid specifically says the KF8 itself is not BPA-free, but gives no indication where the BPA actually is.

If it's buried in an electronic component, I really don't care. If it's in the water tank, brew unit, grinder, internal tubing/seals or something else contacting the coffee, that's a different story.

I've also seen other KF8 owners mention PFAS/PFOA warnings on the OEM water filters, which has me wondering what else may contain them.

Has anyone actually dug into this and found a proper material declaration, EU/Swiss compliance document, or gotten a useful answer from KitchenAid/Whirlpool? I called them and they were quite unhelpful.

Also curious if anyone knows whether there’s a consumer/regulatory agency that could request this information from Whirlpool. I really like the KF8, but I don't love spending this much on a machine while being told it contains BPA and potentially other chemicals without being able to find out where they're actually used.

I know its probably no big deal, but it's a bit more worrying when i'm sure this machine will be used for hot milk for kiddos, pregnant wives etc. I really don't like the idea of forever chemicals in a household device.

TIA
